Sun light, views, comfort and the Castle at your feet

Alfama 5 is on the first floor (no lift) of an old building recently fully refurbished.
Renovation was complete and carefully accomplished: pre-existing old materials like the wooden floor and ceilings were incorporated with the new. Apartment has now a modern and well equipped kitchen and a full bathroom, functional bedrooms with large closets and air conditioning (heat and cold) in the living room.
Decoration is sober in a cheerful family style that makes the flat very cozy.

The apartment can accommodate up to 4 people with full comfort. It is composed of a living room and dinning area, modern kitchen and two bedrooms with double beds. A full bathroom and a small storage room complete the apartment.
Alfama 5 has a small balcony and two large windows that let in lots of sunlight. Balcony faces the little square in front of the entrance to the Castle with really nice views and the Castle is literally at your feet.

Everything about our stay was wonderful. We got our exercise walking up and down the hill which was needed with all the great food we ate.

Location was good but be aware it is near the top of the area ( have to go back uphill at the end of a day) and that you are right outside the castle which means noisy line ups all day and stores below open until 11:00pm

Beautiful spot with great amenities right in the heart of all the action. Busy during th day but very quiet at night. Steep steps to get in. Check in very easy. Our host was communicative, informative and so welcoming. We loved our time here! Gorgeous views, great access to public transit. One of the best experiences I've ever had with a short term rental. They even provide a drawn map with recommendations which was nice because we did little research before.Very minor opportunities for improvement:Instructions for the washer would be helpful. We had a lot of trouble figuring out the settings and getting it to complete cycles.The hair dryer is a little broken. It works but appears to be melted. Most people bring their own but I had skipped it to save space. The heater in one of the rooms had a smoky smell so we opted not to use it.

Four of us stayed for 4 nights. Plenty of space and privacy, excellent facilities, including toiletries and laundry tablets. We loved the location of the property, opposite St George Castle entrance. Great to people-watch from the two large balcony windows. Easy communication with host who organised transfers for us to/from airport.

Nice Place in a Good Location

We enjoyed our stay in this very livable space - kitchen, laundry, multiple spaces for spreading out and relaxing. The location is good for exploring. It's bit noisy at night with local peacocks (who live at the castle next door) and humans - making bird sounds and rolling out recycling. Overall happy with the stay!

I loved the location of the accommodation, and we were happy to walk everywhere - but I had no idea how steep the streets would be and how slippery the cobbles were in the torrential rain we encountered. The apartment was not updated in the way I have come to expect and not having a way of drying our wet clothing except for the line hanging over the street made life a little difficult. There was also a noise problem from the apartments above and below. But having said all of that I loved being there - it is so old and so Portuguese - narrow streets, cobblestones, tiny shops, narrow staircase and all! I would not have changed any of it.

Great location!

Situated right beside Castle St. Jorge is perfect location in the Alfama district. Clean, bright and spacious enough for 4 people. Great communication with our host, Mario. Surprisingly quiet given the foot traffic through the streets. Very comfortable stay.

The location was great, the apartment was clean and the host was amazing. The only issue was that we could hear everything that was going on in the apartment upstairs, as if there was no sound proofing. There was a lot of noises during the night or early in the morning, so we did not sleep well at all during our stay.
