Great place to stay. Highly recommend.

Our extended family loved the house. Great location - town is within walking distance plus we were close to Cadillac for our pontooning outing. We would definitely stay there again.

Location!

We stayed here with our wedding party . There was plenty of room for all of us. Being downtown and across from Lake Missaukee was perfect. We could come and go with ease and walk to all of the stores.

Loved this house. It was so close to everything. The house was great for our family.

This was the cleanest house I have rented. Kudos to cleaning people. The house was in the center of the activities and the fireworks and parade were awesome. We were so close to the action. The owner was very attentive to answering questions. Hope to rent again.

Great house with great location

The house was lovely and perfect size for our large group. The street to cross to get to the beach was incredibly busy with no crosswalk. The beach was nice and a great spot for all ages. Lake City is a cute little town. There was no grill for the property as had been previously listed.

The Castle House

We loved staying here. I loved learning some of the history behind the house. My four year old has endearingly nicknamed it the Castle House. We were a big family and learned that another big family was raised in that house too. The hot water for showers and dishes never ran out. It was a blessing.

Adorable and cozy

The house is old, but well maintained and updated. The kitchen was very well stocked. The beds were comfortable. No AC, but the window fans provided and ceiling fans did a great job of keeping the house cool. Located right at the edge of town, we walked to restaurants and shops. The lake is directly across the street so we were able to walk there also. Erica was nice enough to allow us an early check in too!

Tastefully decorated, spacious and vintage property

Erica's home is vintage Victorian, quite tastefully decorated and updated and clean. With 4 bedrooms, and 2 full remodeled baths, it is spacious enough for several couples, or large families. Kitchen is fully and nicely stocked, and traditional dining room great for 10 around the table. Fully enclosed, gated back deck allows kids to have enclosed space, and adults to view sunsets over the lake. Great selection of beach toys, beach chairs and a wagon in the garage. Higgins Lake -- Caribbean-like swimming lake -- is 20 minutes away for excellent boating or pontooning; Traverse City about an hour drive. Fire pit in side yard, and movable deck chairs for using it. Ardis Library -- almost next door and named for the original owners of the home -- provides PCs, tapes, books, and something for adults and youngsters to do on a rainy day. The ladies there know the Ardis family. The only downside is that road behind the property -- running through Lake City -- is busier than we imagined. (Property is in town.) Front porch a quieter alternative to the back deck at times. Large driveway accommodates 4 cars easily. Nearby state park beach on the lake (5 minutes) provides a more secluded alternative to crossing the road to the public beach. We had four couples and two young grandchildren, and the home was very adequate.

Perfect setting

This cozy family home created the perfect place for us to gather with our kids and grandkids. We had just the right amount of room, the amenities were great for us, we could walk to the beach and the town. We could walk or bike to supper, ice cream (they really are the biggest cones) and groceries. The home was well supplied with the essentials plus good books and other thoughtful items. The personal family pictures and history of the home and original family were nice touches. Thanks for our memories.

Great Home for Families - Awesome Location

This is our second year at this location and really enjoy its easy access to downtown and the public beach. We are able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. We have family close by and it allows us our own space. We stay with 8 total, 4 adults and 4 kids, and it is just enough space. The below are not reasons we would not stay again but would make the stay more enjoyable overall. Thank you again for another amazing 4th! Some things this stay that we wish the owner would address for future stays. One, the screen back door doesn't lock as it appears bent so with young kids it was a little concerning. We wish the back window would be fixed so it would allow air flow. A window fan for each room would be amazing as we had to bring our own up, and even ceiling fans in each bedroom. For our 9 day stay we barely had enough towels for each of us staying with having to use the same ones the entire time. They also had stains on them which I know our clean but just would feel better without stains. Also, having the fridge and pantry empty of prior food so we could fit in our own groceries would be nice.

Perfect for our fishing weekend at the lake!

We were a group of older guys on an annual weekend fishing trip. The house was absolutely perfect. Right across the highway from the lake and close to town. Everything we needed for cooking meals was available in the kitchen and there were plenty of sleeping space for the entire group. If you don't mind traffic noise it would be a beautiful spot for a summer getaway.

Amazing weekend

This was an adorable house! We had such an amazing girls weekend! The house was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. Close to everything on Main Street and just across the street from the beach. The noise from the traffic was a little irritating, but the amazing house made up for that. Erica was extremely helpful when we couldn’t get the tv to work and walked us through an entire reset over the phone. It was a great weekend and a beautiful home.

Wonderful house for family gatherings

The house is spacious and well-appointed! Wonderful deck overlooking the lake, with gorgeous sunsets. The only drawback is the very busy road separating the house and beach. Made it hard to hold conversations on the deck at times. Other than that, we loved the house.

Family Vacation

Beautiful, charming Victorian home. Close to lake front, beach, town. Enjoyed tennis and basketball courts. Only negative was the road right in front of property. We were unable to even sit on the lake side porch the traffic was so busy and LOUD.

Great stay!

We enjoyed our stay. Our family was in town for a wedding. Very familiar with Lake City as our family owns a second home a few miles outside of town. Very nice home with a lot of history. Would love to stay there again some day.

Great property, location.

I came with my nieces and nephews and we enjoyed our stay tremendously. The house was beautiful and updated. We had a small power issue that was quickly resolved by the property owners. They were so amazing and were quick to solve the issue! My older nieces claimed the house is haunted as we had a few instances of items falling in the kitchen on our last evening lol. Great location to the beach and downtown area, also the neighbors were the nicest couple! We had a great time for sure!

Really enjoyed our stay at this location! Lots of space and everything that we could have ever needed was provided! Only minor complaint was how loud and how much traffic noise there was at times but definitely worth the stay and would recommend this to anyone!

Busy Road

The house was beautiful and comfortable and we very much enjoyed our stay. We didn't realize there was no A/C but we were fine the first two nights. The third night got a bit uncomfortable, but it was still a good trip. The road between the house and the beach was pretty busy, and cars don't seem to mind the speed limit.
