The apartment, only a few steps from the majestic castle of Guarene, lays on top the hill of the heart of the charming perfectly preserved village of GUARENE, overviewing the town of ALBA ( only 5 km! ) famous for oustanding wines and white truffles. ALBA is visited all year long by thousands of gourmet-tourists from all over the world.
The apartment is perfectly refurbished to offer an elegant and quiet staying. There are 2 connected bedrooms, convenient for a family group, a wide and panoramic living room with Kitchen corner, an imposing fire place and 4 windows, a hallway, bathroom with shower. The park with century old trees, flowers all year long, seasonal friuts, is open to guests to offer quiet relax in the nature with solarium, kids-payground. The all property is fenced and inside its wide courtyard free covered parking is secured. The confortable apartment has a panoramic view over the green hills of Roero and the Alps.
Free wine-tasting with each week-staying. Restaurant reservations, tours, visits to wine and cheese farmers are provided under request. Friendly and relaxed incounters with guesta are available about art, painting and local typical cuisine.
The owner is a qualified artist-painter with Atelier inside the house, open for visits.
The village of Guarene is part of the wine hills of Langhe and Roero, near the Mediterranean sea (1,5 hours motorway), the Alps skying resorts (2 hours), the historical towns of Turin (45 minutes), Asti (20 minutes), Cuneo (50 minutes), Genova (1,5 hours), Saluzzo (45 minutes).

Fantastic stay!

We loved our stay in Guarene- our hosts were welcoming and so helpful arranging wine tasting, lovely dinners and pointing out local points of interest. We had fun walking into the village and meeting locals (also very friendly). The apartment was so comfy and in particular the bed was heavenly! We split out time maki the ng meals in the apartment and eating at the local eateries. Highly recommend!

The best of Alba

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were treated like family. The accommodations were lovely and spacious and the breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. We also hired the owner to take us wine tasting and he knew the best wineries in the area. We highly recommended this property for a night or a month's stay. We are planning to return. L. Johnson

The Most Incredible Stay with the Most Gracious Hosts

We could not have imagined a better place to stay in all of Italy than with Gianni and Maria Victoria. Everything was perfect, from a welcoming homemade pot of coffee upon our arrival, to the dinner and tasting reservations made for us to smooth our travel plans, to the absolutely beautiful location and grounds of the lodging itself. The thoughtful discussions on art, culture, and piloting were the cherry on top of an incredible visit. I could not recommend this very special location in Guarene more highly to travelers looking to experience Alba and Piemontese culture as the locals do.

Charming and beautiful vacation spot, gracious hosts!

My family and I recently stayed at the apartment as a way to see Piedmont. None of us had ever been to the area before and Maria was exceptionally helpful in setting up numerous wine tastings and restaurant reservations for us. While we had an idea of some of the places we wanted to visit, the restaurants that Maria and Gianni recommended were incredible, and I'm not sure we would have found them on our own. Our hosts were very friendly and did everything they could to make sure we had a great trip. We had a lovely apertif with them on our first day in their garden and were invited to view some of Gianni's art in his home studio. The apartment was a perfect home base for seeing Barolo, Alba and Barbaresco but we could also enjoy a night in when we pleased. We certainly will be staying again next time we are in the area, thank you!!

Peaceful and Beautiful, Great Hosts and Location!

We stayed with Gianni and Maria Vittoria in October for a week. We very much enjoyed our stay, great apartment with amenities, excellent location for venturing to Alba, Barolo, Barbaresco and other small towns in the area. The location is very private with private parking, and the town of Guarene is small and quiet with a couple of nice places to get coffee and the Castle of Guarene for drinks, spa day, or dinner. The apartment is quiet at night with a beautiful garden to enjoy in the days. Above all, Gianni and Maria Vittoria's hospitality made our trip very special. They gave us lots of advice on, and helped us to book, restaurants in the area. We did a wine tour with Gianni that was one of the highlights of our trip! They were so gracious and welcoming and did everything they could to make our stay amazing. We would highly recommend!

So warm and welcoming

We had a wonderful stay with Gianni and Maria Vittoria at their lovely home in Guarene. Firstly, Guarene was even better than we had anticipated - high up on a hill with the small winding streets and welcoming people. It is close to Alba, which was our favorite town to visit. The property has an amazing view of the surroundings from their beautiful garden - and the apartment, separate from the main house, was just right for the 4 of us. When we arrived, our hosts provided a basket of fresh fruit, bread, cheese and meat (as well as some wine!) for us to enjoy while we settled in. Gianni provided a tour of his art studio and the garden - and our kids loved it all! We also relied on them for recommendations for things to do and restaurants to go to - they didn't disappoint. When we had an issue with our next destination, they extended our stay with no issues. We were so lucky to have found this place in Guarene and are looking forward to going back to visit again soon!

Nicest hosts with an awesome property!

We highly recommend staying with Gianni and Maria! They are wonderful hosts. They met us to check-in and show us around the property. They are available when needed, but otherwise are occupied with their daily projects. We enjoyed looking at Gianni's paintings and loved hearing about the rich history of the home and grounds. They made excellent suggestions for nearby restaurants and wine tasting options. They even helped us make dinner reservations. The breakfast spread is very good, including their home made jam and fresh breakfast cakes. Maria even taught us how to make tasty coffee in a Bialetti pot. As far as the accommodations go, I slept like a baby. It is quiet on their property and the new mattress was wonderful. The unit was clean and well appointed. The view out of the living room windows was beautiful, looking down the hillside and across the valley. Driving was not a problem in this area of Italy and the property has on-site secured parking. The town of Alba is just a few minute drive away. La Morra is close by which had a nice wine tasting on the weekend of the Barola 2015 vintage. (Gianni's suggestion on a rainy day.) We have rented many properties in the past, and this is the only one where we left feeling that we have new friends in another country. Unterkunft und Umgebung sehr zu empfehlen!!! Sehr gastfreundliche Familie. Einziger Wehrmutstropfen: Die Küche, nichts für Leute die kochen wollen. Passt gar nicht zur sonst noblen Gesamteinrichtung der Anlage.

Fantastic experience

My wife, a friend and I just spent an unforgettable week at Hazelnut Valley. The location is very convenient as it is in the center of the Langhe offering many opportunities to explore this lovely area. From our living area and the gardens below we were treated to an amazing view of the snow capped Alps. The accommodations are very comfortable. And Gianni and Maria Vittoria were the perfect hosts anticipating all our needs and providing advise on nearby activities. All with the most friendly and warm attitudes. This is a place worth revisiting.

Lovely Property and Exceptional Hosts

This is an wonderful historic property with extremely caring and gracious hosts, Gianni and Maria. The property has been in the family for five generations. The garden is beautiful, with so many fruit trees and flowers. The property also has amazing views of the hills and vineyards. We stayed in one of the upstairs apartments and loved looking out the window at the glorious views. The apartment is furnished with some lovely antiques and the bed was heavenly. We also really liked having secure private parking. Gianni is a very talented artist and has a gallery in his home. He welcomed us and we so enjoyed his work. Maria also serves gourmet breakfasts which I have no doubt are delicious. We’re not big breakfast eaters so didn’t chose this option. The owners are truly exceptional. They were so kind. They welcomed us with a bit of wine and cheese and shared useful information about the area. Most importantly they helped me when I became seriously ill and needed immediate medical care. My husband called them to find out where to go to the emergency room and they instead had their personal physician come meet us at the apartment. He examined me and gave me prescriptions. While waiting for him Maria made me tea and Gianni located the closest 24 hour pharmacy. Truly warm, caring, helpful hosts. I cannot thank them enough. Just a short walk down the street there is a spot to go for coffee or pick up some lunch. Guarene is a charming small hilltop village. We walked to a local restaurant and wine bar called Imperfetta, which was in a renovated 16th century building; the space was used as the Count’s meeting hall. The food was outstanding and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this property. It’s beautiful and You will not find kinder hosts. Thank you Gianni and Maria for everything!

A Unique and Very Special Experience

My wife and I have been renting VRBO and HomeAway properties for several years. We have always had wonderful experiences. The Guarene property, however, is in a unique category all its own. Unlike other properties we have rented, this apartment was just across a courtyard from the owners’ home. Upon arriving we were greeted by Maria Vittoria and Gianni, who invited us to share an aperativo with them that evening. This warm and gracious couple then offered to arrange dinner reservations and appointments for winery tours for us. We accepted their offer and were very pleased we did. We dined each evening at a restaurant we would never have known about otherwise; each restaurant was special and fabulous in its own way. We also were able to visit wineries we would never have encountered on our own. Our apartment was very clean, commodious, comfortable, and well appointed, and the owners warm and generous hospitality made our visit to the region very special indeed. We will most definitely return, and can recommend this property to anyone interested in exploring the region.

A Perfect Stay

In september 2016 we stayed for seven nights at Hazelnut Valley. We really liked the appartment we stayed in. It was a bright, spacious and stylish furnished appartment. Situated in the quite peaceful little village of Guarene it was a good starting point for exploring the surroundings. The property has also a big and fine garden where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful view. For the owners, Maria and Gianni; they were very friendly and thoughtful. Thinking about bringing your restaurantguide?; don't. Maria and Gianni have lots of good restaurant and other tips( wine tasting at Paola Massa!) Overall we can recommend Hazelnut Valley and hope to visit it again.

Guarene is a lovely little village perched up on a hill overlooking a valley of vineyards; a town right out of the movie A Room With a View. The apartment, within this historic house, is so lovely, with two bedrooms and a living room; decorated to fit perfectly with the bucolic setting and historic architecture. Gianni and Maria Vittoria are the best hosts—warm, helpful and absolutely lovely, as is their son. They made our stay so comfortable, welcoming us with an apperif and great conversation. They reserved at the best places to eat and visit, and were available at anytime to help us find our way around. We wished we could have stayed longer to settle into life in this beautiful place. Hopefully, we can return sometime soon to enjoy this piece of paradise.

Chez Gianni et Maria Vittoria

Avons séjourné dans les 2 appartements, tous 2 agréables à vivre. Gianni nous a amené dès le 1er jour chez un paysan local qui nous a préparé un panier de légumes de qualité (patates, aubergines, courgettes, ...) à un prix dérisoire, ce qui nous a permis de cuisiner des produits locaux durant tout notre séjour. Maria Vittoria et Gianni étaient à tout moment disponibles par un coup de sonnette, ils ont pu répondre à toutes nos attentes, leurs recommandations pour les dégustations de vins ainsi que pour les restaurants nous ont surpris en bien. Un grand jardin très bien entretenu a fait le bonheur de nos 2 filles, la grande a même pu s'initier au toboggan. Si on recherche le calme de la campagne à 5 minutes d'Alba, à 15 minutes de Barolo, centré dans les vignes du Roero et du Langhe, ce B&B est idéal. J'aurais voulu amener un commentaire négatif pour équilibrer cette appréciation, mais vraiment je ne trouve pas.

A Guarene questa bellissima casa ci ha sorpresi positivamente perchè ci siamo trovati in una proprietà grandissima ed in un alloggio molto ampio, curatissimo nei articolari, pulitissimo, comodo e confortevole. I proprietari simpaticissimi e cordiali, molto attenti e premurosi, ci hanno accolti con un brindisi di benvenuto con stuzzichini, seduti nel sole nell'ampio parco che sembra ad un vero orto botanico con i suoi mille fiori e alberi di ogni specie, anche secolari .Sembrava di essere parte della famiglia ! Il proprietario è un famoso pittore e ci ha accolti nel suo studio privato in un atmosfera incredibile , tra bellissimi quadri e colori di ogni genere, veramente un'esperienza da non perdere. La vista che si gode dall'appartamento e dalla vastissima terrazza del parco è stupenda, sulle colline e sulle Alpi. Al tramonto del sole, ogni sera, ci siamo rilassati comodamente sulle sdraio per goderci con una buona bottiglia di vino lo spettacolo per noi inusuale del sole rossissimo che moriva dietro alle montagne. Ottime le colazioni servite nella cantina antica e suggestiva, con tutto quello che si può desiderare ed immaginar di tipico della zona, quasi un pranzo...e, speciali la torta fatta e servita calda di forno e la tradizionale albarella di pesche sciroppate deliziosa, tutte cose preparate dalla stessa proprietaria. secondo la tradizione locale. Abbiamo apprezzato molto l'atmosfera e la serenità quieta e tranquilla della proprietà immersa nel verde. Torneremo presto per più tempo con tutta la famiglia. Consigliabile di certo !

"L'ago nel pagliaio" - Eine Wohlfühloase, von der lebendigen Herzlichkeit der Gastgeber Maria V. und Gianni G., die uns liebevoll umsorgten geprägt. "soggiorno che consiglio sicuramente; il posto è da sogno, corrisponde alle caratteristiche indicate ed accessoriata; l''abitazione è molto curata, ristrutturata di recente e pulitissima; si trova in un contesto geografico di assoluta tranquillità, ai piedi del castello di Guarene; la vista verso le colline è splendida; vi si accede facilmente e dispone di due comodi posti auto; i proprietari sono persone squisite e mettono a disposizione anche le bici per percorsi ciclo turistici che loro stessi sapranno consigliarvi; unico difetto: quando la vacanza finisce e si deve rientrare!."
