Nice little studio, welcoming owners, good location

Great little studio. Warm, clean, but with a background smell of dog? Masked with a spray we had to turn off due to allergies. No oven but we managed ok.Caught out with request to pay for power used.

Comfortable with a great view of the wildlife

The Studio was well-equipped although a tight fit in places like the kitchen and toilet. The lounge, TV viewing area and bed were good although we did not use the TV. There were plenty of books and games to use during the stay. The conservatory area was very good with lovely picture windows offering views over the neighbouring farmer's field which offered a variety of wildlife, including Muntjac deer, golden pheasant, rabbits and a multitude of smaller birds Parking was on the street right outside the entry gates which was adequate as the road was never busy. The location was nice but a little out-of-the-way and definitely needed a vehicle to get there. But it was all beautiful countryside. Was able to get to lots of places in Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex during our stay of 4 nights. Access to the internet provided more of a challenge - my phone could not pick it up at all, my computer managed to get a weak signal. Our hosts were very pleasant and accommodating.

a lovely place

We had a very good break. The property is all you need -- didn't turn on the tv once, just sat in the conservatory in the evenings and watched the wild life. This in an excellent place to recharge your batteries.

Peaceful stay, close to nature

My partner and booked weekend away and stayed two nights at Kanes place. She welcomed us on arrival which was lovely. She provided tips on the area based on our questions. We loved this cozy cottage. It’s perfect for a couple. Everything was super clean and tidy and we had all we needed for weekend stay. All is as described in the listing. We ate out one night at the Boarding house, highly recommend (was recommended by Jane). We walked Ali g tiny country road to the restaurant which was a pleasant 35 or so minute walk. Cafe/lunch place right across also service brunch all day, only open Thursday to Sunday. Favourite part of the stay was sitting outside having breakfast or coffee and watching and listening to the wildlife. Although the property is along the road there is minimal traffic so didn’t bother us. We saw a muntjac twice one morning, plus lots of rabbits and various birds, including a woodpecker. Highly recommended.

Perfect little retreat

A wonderful little cottage that was cleverly designed and decorated. It was peaceful and tranquil and ideal spot to watch birds and wildlife from the conservatory whilst having breakfast. Useful information provided about local tourist spots and the history of the cottage and village. A very enjoyable stay.

Best cottage

We booked this accommodation several days before we went; this has to be one of the cutest places I’ve ever stayed. It’s small but perfectly placed the owner has paid so much attention to detail. Additional plus points there was teas/coffees/milk/biscuits/filtered water in a jug ready for our arrival. We really appreciated this ad we didn’t have everything with us. Furthermore this is the cleanest place I’ve stayed in, I felt as though I was at home and that no other guests have stayed here before, this made massive different to my comfort. The conservatory has great views of the fields and wonderful for bird watchers. The gardens at the back has beautiful Japanese acres which I live amongst olive trees. But to top it up the host is just the best, Jane was there to meet us when we arrived, then a day later she checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying our stay. I would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this property. Thank you so Jane ☺️

About the host

Hosted by Paul and Jane Parry

Host profile image
Life-long lovers of Suffolk, Jane and Paul moved to the area over twelve years ago. It was the amazing variety of landscape that drew them – from wild, never-ending shore lines and estuaries, to wetlands teeming with wild life. Time-warped little villages off the beaten track sit in lush hedgerow- lined country and flower rich meadows. There is art, music and theatre aplenty for those who need a change from field and beach. Come and stay in their small (but perfectly formed!) and beautifully appointed Beck Cottage Studio in one such lovely village. It‘s perfect for a short break or a week or two at any time of the year. Our cottage is adjacent to the Studio and we take great pleasure in greeting our guests where possible. We are on hand should the need arise.

Why they chose this property

We love the history of our house and Studio and living in this delightful rural village. No.33 formed part of the village smithy with No.32, Forge House, Old Forge Cottage and dates back to the late 18th and early 19th century. Part of our house was at one time a shop and sold petrol. We enjoy the lovely walks here.

What makes this property unique

Relaxing in the conservatory looking out over trees and fields watching the wild life. A small, friendly village with interesting walks through pretty countryside and an ancient church. Our local pub, the Wissett Plough, is now the Jungle Room, a welcoming cafe and bar open at weekends 9.30-3pm.
