About this property
Private House with Fantastic Views off Home Stretch Trail
Timberframe house on Bear Peak side of Killington Ski Area has everything you need for a quiet mountain side vacation any time of year. Located off a long private driveway on a steep wooded lot, you will feel like you are living in a treehouse. Just a three minute walk from driveway to Homestretch ski trail, the house is easy to ski from and ski to. Be on the slopes in no time and stop by the house for lunch. In early or late season, the house is a short drive to Bear Mountain base and 10 minutes to the Killington base area. Winter views through large picture windows are spectacular with sight-lines to the south, Bear Peak and Skye Peak. The summer is perfect for hiking, and mountain biking. The Skyeship Gondola mid-station access road leads right from the house and leads to mountain biking and hiking trails. Swimming, kayaking, rafting, and golf are all near by. Fall is the time to see the leaves turning color.
Built on a slope, the house is accessed through a set of stairs leading down from the driveway. Entry is through a mud room ideal for putting boots on and off and hanging outdoor clothing. The main floor has a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, living room and large half bath. The living room has a wood-stove and large HDTV. The main level has sliders to decks off the living room and off the dining room. The master bedroom is one floor up with a king bed and large picture windows. The second floor also includes a full bathroom with double vanities as well as an area under the eave with a twin bed. The third floor is a loft area with two queen beds. Two more bedrooms, both with queen beds, a family room and another full bath are on the lower level.
Purchased in 2013, the house has undergone extensive renovations to include new insulation, windows, siding, deck, appliances, electric service, wood stove, furniture, beds & mattresses, carpet, and tile floors. A new 6 person hot-tub was added in 2014.
Note that access to the house is on mountain roads which can be slippery in winter. All wheel or front wheel drive are highly recommended for winter months. The house has many stairs, loft area and decks which may pose safety hazards to small children. Open loft area and interior wood doors and walls do not provide sound insulation.
Cleaning is included in rate.
