About this property
Villa Montale Historical Apartment I Limoni
Summary:
The I Limoni flat sits inside historic Villa Montale, an elegant 19th-century residence on a panoramic hillside in Fegina, Monterosso al Mare — the villa was once home to poet Eugenio Montale, winner of the 1975 Nobel Prize in Literature. Interiors with original frescoes, Genoese mosaic floors and refined furnishings evoking 19th-century noble style. A welcome package awaits, designed for our large villas: trofie pasta, pesto, a bottle of local wine and taggiasca olives, plus milk, orange juice and some seasonal fruit already in the fridge — the first evening's dinner is almost ready. 150 sqm, first floor, sleeps up to 11.
The Space:
5 bedrooms: 4 doubles (some with sea views, others over the garden) and 1 room with 2 single beds plus a single pouf bed. 3 modern bathrooms with showers. Fully equipped kitchen (gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso, toaster, washing machine). Air conditioning in every bedroom and the living room. Garden shared with the villa's other apartments, with a dedicated area for the I Limoni flat with a table and chairs. Chef-at-Home service and Ligurian pasta and pesto classes available on request.
Guest Access:
First floor, no lift. Paid parking.
The Neighborhood:
On the panoramic hillside of Fegina, Monterosso al Mare, inside historic Villa Montale.
Getting Around:
Paid parking available.
Other Things to Note:
Special rules: no parties over Christmas, New Year or other periods; during the Christmas holidays, families only, no groups of young people. Small dogs only, on a lead in communal areas, not on beds or sofas. Heating switched off from 1 April to 1 November.
We leave a few breakfast basics in the kitchen for your first morning (croissants, biscuits, jam, tea, coffee, portioned powdered milk, sugar); where a kitchen is available, also our award-winning extra virgin olive oil from a local producer whose mill and honey production can be visited on one of our experiences, plus salt and washing-up liquid, and washing machine/dishwasher pods where fitted. Bed and bath linen included, with shower gel, conditioner, body wash and hand soap. Professional cleaning.
Our concierge office in Vernazza is open 9:30am–7:00pm from 1 March to 31 October; outside this period the office is closed, with presence available on request. We're always happy to welcome guests staying in any of the other villages too, whether for a quick hello or for advice on local experiences and activities.

Interaction with Guests:
⚠ ASSISTED CHECK-IN ONLY — no self check-in available. Our team welcomes guests in person at the agreed time. Standard hours 3:00pm–7:00pm; late check-in 7:00pm–8:00pm carries a €50 supplement, 8:00pm–10:00pm carries an €80 supplement; no check-in possible after 10:00pm — past this hour car parks close, night trains are rare and often delayed or cancelled, and the villages fall quiet with no one around who could really help anyway: far better to plan a calm arrival the next day.

We really enjoyed our time here. The apartment was clean and well kept. The welcome package Bianca had graciously put together for us was perfect - eggs, bread, jam, orange juice and more. Beautiful city and beautiful home, we are so glad we stayed here

All the best,

Such a beautiful apartment with breathtaking views and great location! The apartment was fully stocked and the “welcome basket” - was thoughtful, robust and unexpected but greatly appreciated! Loved being able to stay in such a remarkable and historic home!
It was fabulous. Everything we needed. We particularly appreciated having the pasta dinner you left for us to cook. And the breakfast items as well. The home is beautiful and well equipped. Location was in the heart of Ravello. We loved staying in Ravello and visiting the rest of Cinque Terre via hiking and train. Just lovely
Our trip to Cinque Terre was like a beautiful dream.
The accommodations were not as described - they were even BETTER!
The generosity of the Property Manager and the wonderful fruit and goodies that were left for us to settle in and prepare a wonderful breakfast on our first morning in the apartment was so perfect.
I will definitely come again in the future and will tell all my friends about this wonderful retreat.
Thank you again!
Lisa
This place was the perfect place for our family of 7. We had plenty of room and bathroom space. The staff that met us were lovely. We had a little language barrier but we used Google translate and all our questions were answered. We also used WhatsApp to communicate and they had quick responses. They left us a beautiful bounty of snacks and breakfast items that actually lasted our entire stay. The only thing we would say negative is that please let them know when you arrive. Do not go straightto the place. The address is wrong and you do not want to walk up the huge hillside with your luggage. Maps takes you up the large hill but it is actually close to the bottom. Great location. We would highly recommend.
Overall the place was nice. It fit all of us. The two downsides were:
1. You cannot purchase additional pods for the coffee maker. We checked every grocery store. There were 10 of us so we only had enough for the first morning. They really should have a coffee maker that does not use pods.
2. The hot water heater was big enough to allow everyone a shower.

Disliked: Listing accuracy
Our stay in Cinque Terra
Very good location with nice views. However, the property was tired with a lot unstable and worn furniture, and no working television. For the price we paid, we were very disappointed.
