Family-Friendly Caribbean Villa with Private Pool in Lance Aux Épines, Grenada

That's nice we are glad to know that you enjoyed your stay with us.

We thoroughly enjoyed hosting you and your wife. For the first time since we have been offering the property to holiday makers we also had a cat to come stay there too! Our staff were taken aback at how big Ernie your cat was when he arrived. I hope Ernie got to enjoy the property too.

That's nice... We loved having you all to stay and of course we do hope that you will be back to Grenada again and that we can have you as our returned guests too.....

Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review. It was a real pleasure hosting you and your friends and I’m delighted that the villa made such a strong first impression on arrival. I’m especially pleased that you enjoyed the pool and courtyard space.....it’s something many guests highlight as a standout feature, offering a private and relaxing environment at any time of day. It’s also great to hear your appreciation of the villa’s traditional Grenadian style, which we’ve carefully maintained to give guests an authentic experience, while still providing all the comforts needed for a relaxing stay. Your comments on the kitchen facilities, air conditioning, and house systems are much appreciated. We work hard to ensure the villa is well-equipped and that guests have clear guidance so their stay runs smoothly, even during periods such as the low season when island-wide utilities can occasionally be affected. Thank you also for your kind words about the team I’ll be sure to pass these on. We aim to provide a welcoming and supportive experience from start to finish, so it’s very rewarding to hear this reflected in your stay. I’m glad you enjoyed the peaceful location and were able to make the most of the local area, including your visit to the University Club always a great choice! A particular favourite spot of mine too..... We truly appreciate your recommendation and your 10/10 rating. Feedback like yours is invaluable for future guests looking for a well-equipped, comfortable villa in a quiet and authentic setting at excellent value. You would be very welcome back anytime.

Thanks for the review. It was a pleasure having you stay. My staff thought you were lovely guests to look after during your short stay there

Thanks for the review and your endorsement as to the house and our pool being clean, and it somewhat negates the previous review we had from the guests before your actual arrival. As owners, we strive to make everyones stay a comfortable one and that’s why we provide a cleaning service in between the week. I wouldn't dream of renting an unclean property to anyone.... Yes, the internet breakdown was unforeseen but thanks to our provider eventually sending a technician to investigate the breakdown we wouldn’t have been none the wiser that our lovely mango tree was the cause.. I hope it didn’t spoil your stay on the island and at the property. Once again huge apologies for the limited service you had in your first week. Thankfully, the tree continued to thrive and bear lots of mangoes but we must pollard it this November to stop it from overtaking all of the communication wires.

Hi Sally. Thank you for this review and we are delighted to know that you enjoyed your stay in Grenada and that the property met with your expectations. My staff loved having you both to stay too. One thing though in terms of the importance of a car hire. It isn't essential, but it is helpful. We do have a bus system that comes in and out of Lance Aux Epines, which is mainly for the people that work within the area alongside that of the students who live in the area too. Janet uses that in order to get to the house in the morning. It was kind of you to drop her whilst you were there. Agreeably a car hire is always bonus, but any potential renter reading this review who doesn't drive or doesn't want to rent a vehicle, it is possible to use our local bus system along with that of our taxi service that is run by Natalie and her brother Roger and all the other taxi's that can be ordered to ferry one around or across the island

Thank you for your feedback. I’m pleased that you enjoyed the location, the quiet surroundings, the pool and the regular housekeeping service. As with many traditional Caribbean homes, the villa is designed with louvre windows to maximise natural sea breezes and natural ventilation rather than relying heavily on the air conditioning units. This architectural style is typical of coastal properties on the island and allows the house to benefit from the cooling trade winds. The villa is maintained on an ongoing basis by our local team and any maintenance matters raised during your stay were addressed promptly. During your stay a few maintenance matters were raised and were addressed as quickly as possible. The television in the living room is a brand new unit and was fully operational, but user error may have occurred if you did not follow the instructions in our Property Information Booklet. A microwave was also provided within 24 hours of your request, although the kitchen is fully equipped with several other appliances suitable for heating food and drinks. The hot water heater in the kitchen required a specialist part which had to be air-freighted to the island before installation, and the water pump, which had been recently serviced — unfortunately failed after a temporary government water shutdown in the area. This was repaired promptly once the issue occurred. Following your comments about bedding comfort, additional new pillows were provided during your stay in an effort to improve your sleeping experience. As with most tropical environments, occasional insects such as centipedes, cockroaches can sometimes appear despite regular pest-control treatments, particularly in homes designed with open ventilation. You stayed at the villa for over 40 days and also hosted visiting friends for part of that time too and throughout the stay we did our best to address the concerns that were raised and to make improvements where possible. Although refunds are not normally provided for comfort-related concerns, I nevertheless offered a discretionary refund as a gesture of goodwill. The property was fully operational at the time of your departure. I’m sorry that the villa ultimately did not align with your expectations for accommodation. The property tends to suit guests who appreciate the relaxed character of traditional Caribbean homes, natural sea breezes and a peaceful coastal setting close to the sea.

Thanks for your nice review. Glad you enjoyed your months stay at the villa and were happy with the little upgrades we made to make our guests even more comfortable during their stay. And yes, we replaced the bath!

I'm very surprised by all your negative comments and that you didn't enjoy your stay at the villa or like the property. I am sorry to hear that as this is not how we wish our guests to feel whilst we accommodate them. I will reply to some of your complaints to set the record straight. Regarding our electrical equipment and the NO CIRCUIT BREAKER. You are incorrect!! In the laundry room there is a very up to date Circuit Breaker - replaced last year. No electrical company would supply electricity without one. The wires you are referring to are outside in the garden are either connected to the Grenlec pole or our cable service. They are no where near any human. You would need a huge ladder to reach them. I investigated the leak by the day bed and corrected that, as it was caused by excessive rain and leaves blocking the down pipe. We also needed to cap the end too. That's been taken care of. The weather during your stay (hurricane season) wasn’t exactly full of sunny days so maybe that gave you such a negative attitude towards our property. In terms of the pool steps & tiles. I was sorry your partner injured himself (triggered by an old injury).. How he did that getting into the pool still puzzled me but you reassured me at the time that he was fine. I’ve had two major knee ops and yes, I do slide into the pool and use the steps to climb out. You didn't explain to me that one of the threads were loose and required tightening up. I would have attended to that immediately. It has since been tightened up. The tiles at the rim of the pool aren’t dirty. These are exposed to the sun so they are faded and stained by the water and the sun. We have replaced the top rows of the tiles with new glass blue ones. There are no leeches in Grenada. Crabs and other crawling creatures maybe......what you most likely saw were earth worms. But being we are close to the sea and we have an indoor garden its impossible to manage all beasts. Some of the other complaints you have made (closing wardrobe door) was user error; the shower was hair blocking the waste which could easily have been rectified had you drawn our maids attention to it. As to cleanliness. I refute that. I have since added a video to our profile that shows the interior of our property and the condition that we keep it at. We don't offer 5 star service, but our staff maintain and keep the property extremely clean so I am at a lost to respond to that complaint other than why did you write and ask her NOT to come into the villa and clean during your two week stay and also complain constantly about a previous villa that you stayed at especially as to the maid there too who was only trying to do her job, if you felt the villa wasn't up to your standard of cleanliness?

Thank you Elissa for your kind review. We are happy to know you enjoyed the house and your break away in Grenada too. You managed to see and do quite a bit in your short stay with us. Couldn't resist getting you in some local brews and some English breakfast food for your husband. I thought it was all appropriate considering things and considering your stay was over the holiday season too. We hope to see you again sometime.

Thank you for your nice review and we are happy to know that you enjoyed yourself. I am sure that your children would have lots of fun at the house. The pool is a great attraction. Nice tip about massages from the School for the Blind. I was not aware of that and will certainly seek them out for a massage next time I am there on the island.

We were sorry things went wrong during this guests stay. Such a breakdown at the house is unprecedented in the 15 years since operating holiday rentals. We take this matter seriously. I understand the guests comments. They've paid lots of money to go the West Indies, rent a house and expect everything to be in working order. My management team on the ground were derelict in their duties, they did not attend to matters carefully. The buck stops with the owners. I made a personal visit Oct witnessed, discovered for myself, discussed matters with team, staff as why the house was not in the ship shape order. They clearly took their eyes off the ball. From hence forward the housekeeper will ensure everything is in working order prior to occupancy. On arrival guests will be guided through a check list before handing over keys.Repairs & changes to the property, I personally managed, fixed, installed: a brand new hot water heater, a new gas water heater, a more efficient modem, migrated from an existing internet provider to a system that offers faster speeds less interruptions/service breakdowns. Nothing wrong with the TV or the cable service. The guests changed the tv settings. Likewise the overhead remote control fan. That worked perfectly. Both user error. 3 fans (cylinder style) purchased new, January 16 none are/were covered in dust. A/c units were available! All a/c units in perfect working order. 1 standing fan for use outside (patio area) is a little marked but in perfectly good working order and is provided to blow away any irritating mossies. Repainted. Top loader washing machine & cooker. Cooked lots of meals and used the washing machine daily. Advice to all guests is don't use for fine clothes as the wash and spin cycle is so heavy duty. I personally oversaw all the repairs and the damage caused by the water leak. Our plumber remains uncertain why it leaked!! The new one is sited elsewhere, in the event of an overflow. We refunded their money, sent a case of Prosecco, flowers and chocolates as a means to appease.... As owners we strive to provide guests with a property that is highly functional and in good working order. We are not cynical owners and wish only to make our guests happy and comfortable. It is not in our interest to make them miserable as that has a negative effect on our future bookings... To prevent this ever happening again we've engaged an on-sight manager locally to prevent any management team oversight or breakdown.

That's nice that you enjoyed your stay in Grenada and I'm pleased that you were comfortable at the house too. We make every effort to ensure that our guests are comfortable and safe at the house. I love the University Club house too, more for the easy access to their lovely beach, the fact that you can get a drink there and even have an olympic swim too. Natalie will be chuffed to pieces to know how much you appreciated her, she is such a lovely person and works really hard taking care of our guests as well as her day job... We hope you'll make another visit to the island one day again....

We loved having you stay. You were wonderful guests. And yes Janet keeps house and makes everything sparkle and clean. I would be lost with out her. Its also nice when guests appreciate the hard work that our staff does to make the guests stay a really comfortable one

Glad to hear that you all had a good time in Grenada and that you were very comfortable at the house being that this was your first time to the island...
