Beautiful Cabin Surrounded By Lake Views And Forest In The North Woods Of Wi
If you are looking to get away to the sun dappled north Wisconsin woods for a family vacation, friend get-together or private retreat, wake up in our cozy cabin on the lake. This is a pristine place to get away and relax, boat, fish, swim, kayak, paddle board or take a walk or boat ride to watch the sun set over the water.
The cabin has been designed with many amenities and places to gather with loved ones, and friends, including the living area, kitchen and extended deck. There are three bedrooms with queen size beds, and 1 bedroom with 2 twin beds. There are many scenic areas outside for tents or campers.
The kitchen has brand new appliances including an induction stove, convection oven, microwave, refrigerator with ice/water dispenser, plus a small mini fridge under the counter.
The basement kitchenette, also has a refrigerator, and both kitchens are stocked with many handy cooking utensils.
There is a gas grill with an outside burner, as well as a electric smoker available to use. We have a fire pit and fish cleaning station outside as well as plenty of parking.
We have a large area to sit down by the lake, or in the lake on benches that can be put in the water. Upper Eau Claire Lake is a chain of lakes with so much to do. There are many smaller lakes that can be accessed with a pontoon boat, or kayak or paddle board. There is an island with a sandbar just across the lake with level camping/campfire area, as well as a panoramic lookout area on top of the hill which is only accessible by boat - great place to hang out and read, throw a ball to the dog or play in the water.
Loon Landing is a stargazers dream as the secluded location makes for a clear view of the night sky. In the Fall, the views are sublime with many fun places to hike and see the leaves change color, like Copper Falls, or Bayfield.
In the winter, everything becomes still. The views of the lake are breathtaking as the barren snow covered ice surrounds you on all sides. The scene is truly majestic, and one you must see to believe. With so many fun ice activities including ice skating, hiking across the lake or ice fishing, our cabin is a winter wonderland. The inside will be kept cozy warm with a wood burning stove as well as hydronic heat.
We are centrally located to so many other fun things in Northwest Wisconsin such as Bayfield (< 1 hr), or Copper Falls (< 1 hr), Hayward (30 min), Cable (20 min), Superior/Duluth (1 hr). You can tube down the Namekagon River, or kayak the Brule River, just a short ride away with rentals available. Closer by the cabin hang out and swim at the falls between Middle and Lower Eau Claire Lakes, or hit one of the local golf courses. There are also many snowmobile and ATV trails around the area, as well as a shooting range five miles away.

It was a wonderful stay with family and friends! The property is great for families, and the setting is idyllic. Compliments to the host. We look forward to returning!
The cabin was beautiful and the lake was amazing! The cabin has everything you need and then some! Our favorite spots were the back deck and the two lazy boy chairs facing the lake as the sun went down.
The home was beautiful. We were under the impression we could bring our own pontoon but there isn't enough dock space. So we had to spend more and rent the pontoon that was there and it was a huge waste of money. Very old and run down. But like I said, the home was beautiful, had everything you'd need.
Beautiful and comfortable stay! We had plenty of space for the 9 of us(all adults). We had 3 boats and were able to fit them all on the dock comfortably. Definitely will be staying here again!
We needed a large house to fit our immediate family to be close by to our sons in law’s where his wedding was being held. This house fit us all (12 adults)with extra room to spare. It was good being all together as we were there to celebrate family and also make cherished memories to get us through some upcoming difficult times. The house is the best stocked home any of us has ever been in. The owners of this home have thought of everything to allow you to enjoy your time. It was so truly appreciated!

Wonderful space, peaceful and beautiful
We used this cabin as home base for a family reunion where we had three cabins. It has a great, well stocked kitchen and plenty of seating space between kitchen, dining room and deck. A good variety of spaces, group and private. Thanks so much for helping us make memories.

Martha,
I am so glad our place worked out for you and your family. Thanks also for sending the picture of your group enjoying your time together. It is good to see. Anytime we can help you out again, let us know.

Beautiful home. Lots of space for all of us. The lake has wonderful clear water. The dock is on a sandy beach that rapidly gives way to a 20 foot drop off which my teenagers loved for jumping off the dock. Would love to stay here again.

Like a second home
This was our second stay and it was just as great as the first. The weather was hit and miss, but when the sun was out, we were on the deck, on the dock or taking a relaxing walk on the quiet street. Close enough to gas/ convenience if needed. The house is so comfortable, spacious and clean. Owners are easy to reach and very accommodating.

Thank you Michelle! You and your family are welcome anytime. I am glad that you can be comfortable and enjoy the beautiful property and lake as we do. Ann & Ted
We loved our stay at this beautiful cabin in Barnes! We have family that lives down the road, so it worked out perfectly to be able to comfortably have our own space and still spend time with family. Our two dogs loved being able to sunbathe on the deck. The cabin stayed nice and cool, even on a hot day. We loved our stay and hope to be able to visit again. Owners were very responsive to any questions we had. Snatch this place up if you get the opportunity!
Peaceful and private is the best description for this location. When we arrive at a vrbo the very first thing I always do is skip by the cabin and dash down to the lake... We were pleasantly surprised when we looked around and didn't see any other docks- both neighbors are far away allowing plenty of privacy- which we really appreciate! The lodge is perfect and Ann was an outstanding host-- we loved it so much we stayed a few additional days!
Thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay at Loon Landing Cabin. Despite cooler than normal temperatures, we enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and the indoor wood burning stove kept us quite cozy. Beautiful lake to pontoon around, large deck to enjoy breakfast outdoors and soak in the lake views while reading a book from nearly any room in the home- or by the fire pit or down on the dock. Loon Landing Cabin is gorgeous, well stocked with any amenity imaginable and the decor delights any lover of Loons (my favorite bird!) Truly a peaceful, serene and secluded property and thus my reason for calling it paradise!

We are so glad that you took full advantage of what Loon Landing has to offer! Thanks so much for your review Bev! (my kids have a thing to count the Loons in and around the cabin - I think we were up to 350, but there is more now:) Take Care

Large Family Getaway
This is a very nice, large cabin for a big family. The lake is stunning; incredibly clear and not busy. The fish didn't bite as much as we would have liked and the sun disappeared too early in the week, but overall it is was extremely relaxing. All that attended enjoyed themselves and made it 'their' vacation. Traveling up to Bayfield and then over to the Apostle Islands was a day excursion and well worth it. Also, a trip into Hayward included lunch and a visit to the biggest candy store our nieces have seen. Ann, the owner, is prompt, professional and very easy to work with. One to remember!

Thank you for sharing your review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay.
Beautiful set up with most amenities needed and then some. Thought rental a/c but did not; not a big deal for most of our stay but if had remained hot and humid we would’ve had to get creative. Swimming area was sandy with steep drop off which worked well for our teens. Kayaks and paddle board added to fun. All the cooking supplies needed are available & plenty of plates, glasses, utensils, etc. Bedding very comfortable. WiFi good but we were too busy outside at fire pit or at lake. Definitely will consider staying again!
Our family was looking for a new location to work from home and do remote learning. We found this location and would highly recommend to anyone for a winter retreat. We snow shoed and cross country skied on the frozen lake and grounds. Our corgi's loved running and playing in the snow.
Ann is a great host and although we only had a few needs to text her on she responded immediately and was super helpful.
The house has a fantastic layout that gave everyone room to work remote. The wifi was great for our entire stay to Zoom and Skype.
The house faces the east and the natural sunlight was impressive. The kitchen had all the amenities to let us cook anything and enjoy it like we were home.
This was a fantastic break. We highly recommend this property. We hope to come again. Thanks Ann

Cabin Sweet Cabin.
We truly enjoyed a week in June with 7 adults and 2 children. The cabin was meticulous, organized and very clean. The beds were comfortable and the amenities endless. If there was something you forgot, it was available. The views out every window was calming regardless of the weather.
We brought our own fishing boat but did enjoy using one of the kayaks. The water was beautiful although the fish avoided us. We had 3 days of overcast/clouds/random rain showers. The deck is large enough for all of us to enjoy together that included many chairs and padding. The kitchen island also provided space for many to be together while cooking. We did use the grill one night and decided we should have used it more. Parking was convenient for 3 vehicles.
We will certainly return.

Thank you Michelle! We would be very happy to have your group again someday. Have a wonderful year.
We stayed here in June 2016 and again in June 2023. Both stays were great. All the amenities are provided, plus things you might not even think about. For a few days we had 4 recent High School graduates. They used the large map in the dining room to map out their paddle each day, going to as many lakes as possible. The teens also ventured to Hayward and Duluth. Part of our trip was with our parents (ages 72-81). We enjoyed several pontoon boat rides. (Tip for older people and the pontoon boat: Have them drive to the boat ramp and meet them there for easier boarding/onboarding. That dock is level with the pontoon and no stairs are needed.) For us middle aged folk, we also ventured to Hayward and Duluth as well as paddling to as many lakes as possible. The kitchen island is always a great gathering place for eating and talking. The dinning room table saw many game nights and the patio was used morning, noon and night. After 2016 we hoped to come back and I'm so glad we were able to make it happen!

It was a great week at a great cabin!
We were a party of 8 consisting of 4 grandparents, my brother-in-law, my husband, my 10 year old daughter and myself. My mom said that she could tell that the owners actually use the cabin because of the little things (night lights, kitchen utensils, etc.).
My husband, child and I spent a lot of time in the kayaks and on the paddle board. We rented a 3rd kayak from Jack’s in Trego so that the three of us could paddle as a family. We also brought our canoe for longer paddles. The grandmas even paddled to the island with us! We visited the island twice exploring both ends. We paddled to Birch and Robinson Lakes. Paddling under the bridge and exploring between lakes was fun. We also canoed to Smith and Shunenberg Lakes. The smaller lakes are an adventure!
We used the pontoon and fishing boats. It was nice to explore the lake with a motor! The boat covers were a little tricky to maneuver but we managed and got better at it. Ann was very accommodating when I shared my concerns and mentioned they are working on a different system. The grandparents explored coves for fishing. They also golfed in Hayward and said it was the most beautiful course they’ve ever golfed. We drove to the lock and dam between Lower and Middle Eau Claire Lakes. We raised and lower the water in the manual lock. Grandparents went fishing there too. We did some biking and found some very scenic loops. We took a day trip to Duluth. Eating and Grandma’s, touring the Maritime Museum and exploring Canal Park is always a fun time. On one rainy afternoon we visited the shops in Hayward.
There are great views from the entire cabin and the deck is amazing. The cabin was stocked with all of the essentials and was clean and inviting when we arrived. Access to the cabin, garage and boat keys was easy and well planned. The large dining room table was perfect for a game of Monopoly (supplied, as well as other games). Evening baseball games were regularly on the tv. The wifi worked great. My daughter brought Just Dance for the Wii (other Wii games are supplied) and we boogied in the downstairs. Even the downstairs living room has great views!
During the drive home I asked my husband if there was anything different than he expected from the listing. We both agreed that the cabin was as anticipated and even better.
Communication with Ann before and during our stay was quick and helpful. We hope to stay at Loon Landing Cabin again in the near future!

Thank you Jennifer! We appreciate your feedback and your sharing everything that you took advantage of while you were visiting. We could not be happier that you took full advantage of the cabin, and what is there, inside and outside. We always say that we are sharing our 'home away from home.' We want it is comfortable for you as it is for us. It is a wonderful Family gathering place and that is what we strive for since our kids and ourselves have built amazing memories here. We look forward to you booking with us again someday soon.
Enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday at the cabin. Plenty of space for all of us, exceptionally well stocked kitchen…overall beautiful property. Would definitely recommend for any season.
We enjoyed swimming and fishing in the clear water. The pontoon rental was a bonus. Cabin was spacious, very well equipped and extra clean. Highly recommend, especially for a large family.
Many thanks to Ann and Ted for hosting us at their beautiful home! Everything about this rental far exceeded our expectations. Grandkids and daughter loved the kayaks. Exceptional, hope to return next year! Warm regards, Pam and Mark
Everything was what we expected and more except we did not realize there wasn't a beach. Not sure if I missed that or it wasn't mentioned. Overall that was minor. Children loved the dock and jumping into water.. I enjoyed the beauty of the sky/water and trees. We also saw a lot of wild animals including a bear on lake road. I would like to stay on the Upper Eau Claire lake from JUne-September!

About the host
Hosted by Owner/Property Manager
Ted and I have been married since 1988 and have three kids who have grown up spending vacations at this cabin since they were born. Family gatherings with cousins, Aunts and Uncles and friends (+friends of friends) have become a time honored tradition with our favorite memories being made here. We come from East Troy, Wisconsin where we both went to High School, went away to college and came back to raise our family and run our engineering business, and our new gastro-brewery (2018). We are very active in our community and love to get away to "our cabin".
Why they chose this property
Ted and Ann purchased this property in 2015 from Ann's parents who bought it in 1992. The entire cabin was remodeled in 2007 adding a walk-out basement, a laundry area, more bedrooms, bigger living area and large kitchen with plenty of cupboard and counter space. The deck was expanded in 2015 to accommodate our guests.
What makes this property unique
We love this area and our location on the lake. We are on a peninsula with lake views from the sitting/reading area all around. We are in a secluded location and have a beautiful point with fire pit to look out at the lake. With a few easy steps you are on a sandy beach, with access to a beautiful island on the lake as well as many sandbars. The lake is incredibly clean and quiet for a lake this size with access by kayak and paddle board to many side lakes. There are also great fishing spots all around our little bay as well as many areas on this lake.
