Old-world charm, quiet, sunny and established in a very protected environment. Perfect for a stay in the countryside with friends and childrens. The house is 15 minutes from « Les Antilles » of Jonzac Cognac and Saintes, 40 min from the beach and 1 hour drive from La Rochelle, Ile de Ré and Bordeaux. Pons, a pretty Medieval town is at less 5 minute drive. This beautiful Charentaise farmhouse of the 19th century has been fully renovated by an architect in 2010 and is located in an charming hamlet between Avy and Pons. The ground floor is made of : 2 bedrooms with charming and original furniture, a fully renovated and furnished american style kitchen of 30 m2 and dining room of 60m2 with two fireplaces, ceilings and original wooden floors. 1 Bath Room and 1 WC are also available on the Ground Floor. The 1st Floor is made of : 1 Dormitory of 60 m2 with two double bed, a single bet and a futon, a bathroom, a WC and a bedroom with double bed. Beams and stone walls. Facing south, all rooms are very bright all day. Very quiet on 6000m2 of land fully fenced and with lime and centenary pine trees on the front; Road and forest access. Original and ventage furniture. Barbecue available, garden furniture at disposal. Bicycles at disposal.

Beautiful, tranquil and homely

We have enjoyed the most memorable and beautiful experience here. Our host could not have been more helpful and caring. This house has a wonderful, happy, family feel, from the moment we walked in it was like the house wanted us to have a great holiday. It was perfect in every way, and especially for autumn with the open fire. It was cosy in the evenings and bright and airy during the day. We would definitely like to return here.

Nicest Place I've Stayed - Anywhere.

Wonderful house with lovely garden in idyllic location. Everything about the house was almost perfect. Particularly the newly refurbished 'suite' on the upper floor with lovely shower room and bedroom. The property was clean and well maintained. Customer service provided by Nicolas, the owner (now resident in Paris) and by his father who lives near by was second to none. His father even took us to the nearest supermarket on the first day and waited to take us back to the house. He also lent us a mobile phone as we were having a little trouble with ours. The location was also excellent with many lovely places (Pons, Saintes, Congnac, Royan, Rocheford, La Rochelle) only a short drive away. I would be more than happy to stay here again and probably will at the first opportunity and would be more than happy to recommend this to friends (in fact, I already have)! In short, we had a lovely relaxing holiday in a lovely place and fantastic value for money.

Marvelous countryside house

The perfect place for a quiet and relaxed family vacation in the French countryside away from the big crowds, yet close enough to visit the sights and amenities of Charente-Maritime and the surrounding departements. The old farm house is very well equipped and nicely renovated. And the HUGE garden is perfect for children to play in while the grown-ups enjoy their free time making BBQs or having drinks under the big lime tree in front of the house. A short list of what we also liked about the house: the ambience lighting in the garden the well maintained Weber barbeque grill the modern bathrooms the fly screen in front of all windows the extra refrigerator in the basement the many deck chairs available All in all, us and our two kids have spent two wonderful weeks in the house together with our friends/neighbors and their children and there was nothing to complain. Also, Nicolas (the owner) was very helpful and very dedicated from the very beginning to fullfil our needs and wishes. Thank you Nicolas for a great two weeks in south-western France!

a perfect place for a careless and relaxed holiday

We, a family with 5 children age 2-14) have stayed in this dream house for 3 weeks in August 2016. The house proved to be a perfect place for a careless and relaxed summer holiday: its thick walls and shades ensured cool temperatures inside. The adjustable screens conveniently ensured a good night’s sleep. The gigantic garden with flower beds, swing chairs, hammock, weber bbq and beach chairs for the necessary rest and relaxation for all. We enjoyed the climate in the region (25-35 degrees throughout, only half a day of rain!), visits to Cognac, Saintes, Bordeaux (miroir d’eau!), Royan, Rochefort and La Rochelle (a bit too touristy in high season) and Talmont. The Chateau des Enigmes with a 3 hour treasure hunt was enjoyed by all (only 3 kilometers away),the Water paradise in Jonzac and the wonderful, clean and convenient beaches along the Gironde (very safe waters for small children!). The house is fully equipped for all your needs and you can enjoy your breakfast, aperitif and /or diners in the shade of the magnificent Linden tree (lindeboom/ tilleul). Thank you Nicolas Gallot for letting us stay in your house, we will be back to enjoy it more soon! And again our deepest gratitude to your parents who are truly wonderful people.

Stunning comfortable family home

We were given a warm friendly welcome from owner Nicolas who showed us around his lovely homely farmhouse. The house looked stunning in the warm Charentes sunshine and is set in magnificent gardens filled with flowers and a fascinating variety of trees including cherry, apple, fig, olive, chestnut etc, etc. The top of the garden has space for games and would be great for kids. Although the house could sleep 10 we were only 3, my husband and I and our adult daughter. Our daughter had the upstairs with a lovely double room and modern fitted shower room and WC. Despite the warm weather even the upstairs was cool and comfortable. We had the downstairs bedroom, ideal for me as I have mobility issues and there is also a lovely shower room with large cubicle and separate WC. Although we had everything we needed downstairs I could still manage the wide stairs to the first floor. Larger parties should note that access to one of the downstairs doubles is through the other bedroom. The lounge has a comfy large leather suite and we really felt at home every evening. There is a large supermarket 10mins drive away and the historic town of Pons is on your doorstep. The Roman town of Saintes is a fantastic place to visit and is 20 mins away. Nicolas lives in Paris but his parents live close by in Berteau and we had their number for any problems. A lovely relaxing place to stay. The yellow cherries fresh from the tree were delicious.

Nous avons passé une semaine formidable dans cette belle maison entourée d’un immense terrain, parfait pour se retrouver en famille. Les enfants ont adoré faire du vélo, jouer à cache-cache, jouer au ping-pong, cueillir des prunes et des poires (les adultes aussi)…La maison est proche des commerces, elle est très spacieuse, idéale pour les grandes familles comme la nôtre, chacun y a trouvé sa place. Le dortoir a fait l'unanimité chez les enfants qui y ont partagé de vrais moments de complicité. Mentions spéciales pour les hamacs disposés dans le jardin et la cuisine d’été, parfaitement équipée, a été un vrai plus pour nos barbecues en famille.Petit conseil: pensez à prendre de quoi vous protéger contre les moustiques, qui sont bien présents en soirée à l’extérieur et à l’intérieur de la maison. Un grand merci à Nicolas et ses parents pour leur accueil et leur disponibilité. Nous gardons un excellent souvenir de ce séjour et recommandons vivement cette adresse à tous ceux qui cherchent calme, espace et convivialité.

Eine Oase der Erholung

Sehr kleiner aber ruhiger Ort ,abseits vom Massentourismus perfekt zur Erholung .Das sehr gut ausgebaute Bauernhaus bietet alles was man für einen angenehmen Urlaub benötigt. Besonderste schön ist der riesige Garten mit der Bepflanzung . Der Vermieter Nicolas ist ein perfekter Gastgeber denn mit seinen vielen Tips konnten wir die Region Charente- Maritime schätzen und kennenlernen auch der Empfang war sehr herzlich und freundlich. Dank Nicolas und seinem Haus war es ein perfekter Urlaub in Frankreich

Magnifique propriété

Ancienne bâtisse typique de la Charente, restaurée de façon harmonieuse. Nicolas, le propriétaire, est à l'écoute et bienveillant ses hôtes. Cette maison est spacieuse et respecte bien le descriptif de l'annonce. Parfaitement équipée, que ce soit au niveau des sanitaires, de la cuisine, du séjour etc..Nous avons passé un séjour très agréable, la maison est située dans un cadre magnifiquement arboré et fleuri. Un merveilleux sejour

Une maison de famille magnifique, un terrain immense. Un tilleul qui offre de l'ombre la quasi integralite de la journee pour rester a table .. Ce parasol ne s'envole pas, lui ! Des velos, des balançoires.. Des coins paisibles.. Un banc isole.. Des balades en foret.. Des chouettes, des biches.. La mer a 40 minutes.. Un accueil formidable, tant a notre arrivee qu'a notre départ. Avec des echanges et info de la part de Nicolas au cours de notre sejour pour s'assurer que tout allait bien avec la chaleur des derniers jours. Et ce petit plus qui a son importance : les moustiquaires sur mesure aux fenêtres ! Du genie ☝ Tout existe dans cette maison pour que l'on s'y sente bien et qu'on veuille y revenir. Merci pour cette belle et dernière semaine de nos vacances en Charente-Maritime.

Séjour merveilleux dans cette magnifique propriété

Semaine de vacances très agréable avec nos enfants et nos amis. Nous avons profité de cette maison de famille typique, chaleureuse et accueillante, très bien équipée et décorée, offrant un très bon niveau de confort, rien ne manque. Le jardin est somptueux, paysager, arboré et fleuri. De longues heures passées dans le hamac et les transats. Les vélos mis à disposition nous ont permis de découvrir la campagne et le ville de Pons toute proche. Énormément de possibilités au départ de la location pour découvrir la Charente Maritime. Un grand merci à Nicolas et à ses parents pour leur accueil et leur gentillesse, ils ont été à notre écoute tout en restant discrets. On recommande !

Nous avons passé 15 jours dans la maison. Elle est parfaite pour deux familles avec enfants comme nous, le dortoir à l'étage pour les enfants c'est parfait et les deux salles de bains indispensable pour 9. La maison est très propre, très bien équipée, spacieuse, chaleureuse et joliment décorée. Le jardin est magnifique, nous avons passé des moments inoubliables sous le tilleul. Il y a tout ce dont vous avez besoin dans la maison pour vous amuser : les jeux, livres et jouets pour les enfants, les vélos, jeux d'extérieur, balançoire, etc. et pour vous détendre : transats, hamac, chiliennes, etc. Nous avons apprécié le calme qui nous a permis de nombreuses grasses matinées et la fraicheur de la maison malgré les températures. M. et Mme Gallot sont fort sympathiques et très flexibles quant aux heures d'arrivée et de départ. La région est magnifique, il y a beaucoup de choses à découvrir sans avoir à parcourir de longues distances. Les commerces sont également rapidement accessibles en voiture. Les enfants nous demandent déjà d'y retourner !

Un séjour magique pour les enfants et les parents! Une belle demeure spacieuse pour 10 personnes dont 3 enfants en bas âge, un extérieur arboré et clos avec beaucoup d'espace et d'activités proposées par le propriétaire. Rien ne manquait. Maison magnifique dans un superbe cadre !

Nous avons passé un superbe weekend dans cette maison magnifique ! L'organisation de l'arrivée est très flexible, idem pour le départ, Nicolas a été rempli de petites attentions pour nous, et a tout fait pour que notre séjour se déroule à merveille ! Merci énormément à lui !! La maison est spacieuse, sur un immense jardin, avec tout pour ne pas s'ennuyer (vélos, transats, panier de basket, barbecue...), idéal tant pour se reposer, que pour passer un weekend entre amis/en famille ! Les lits et canapés sont très confortables pour se reposer, la cuisine complète, avec énormément d'accessoires, les salles de bains sont spacieuses et très agréables à utiliser ! Aux alentours, il y a tout pour passer un bon séjour (La Rochelle à une heure, Cognac, Royan, Pons... à proximité), Supermarché et Gare à moins de 10 minutes en voiture, base de loisirs avec kayaks, jeux... à 5 minutes, Enormément de chemins pour se balader à pied, en courant ou en vélo à proximité immédiate de la maison, tant en forêt, qu'au milieu des champs Nous avons passé 3 jours et 3 nuits dans la maison, mais avons été très tristes de la quitter... A réserver sans aucune hésitation pour passer un séjour entre amis / en famille, et visiter la Charente !!

Lieu super pour un séjour en famille

Nous avons adoré cette maison, superbement mise en valeur, taillée pour les séjours familiaux, son magnifique jardin, mais également sa localisation idéale pour rayonner sur toutes les Charentes, à une heure de voiture maximum, entre terre et mer. I’m 46 years-Old and I’ve been living in Paris since 20 years. I was born in Charente-Maritime. The house is my grand-mother house I bought back when she died. I’ve been renovating it during 5 years with an architect support with the goal of bringing back the orignial set-up and style nased on the knowledge and picture I had. It is my holiday house which enables me to keep the link with my origin and where I can enjoy gardenning. I rent it because I’m keen to share my love of this place.

Why they chose this property

Old-world family Farm house of the 19th century fully renovated in 2010 in an hamlet at less than 5 minutes drive of PONS ans 15 min from Jonzac, Saintes and Cognac ; 200 m2 available with vintage and original funiture associated with modern confort including internet free access. Facing south, this sunny and confortable house is located on 6000 m2 garden fenced and safe with direct access to the forest. You will be at the heart of the exceptional patrimoine of the Saintonge with its numerous roman churches you access by car or VTT. Cognac and its caves, Saintes, Ile de Ré, Ile d’Aix , Marennes, Royan are all of less than one hour drive. If you come in May and June you will enjoy the beautifull roses « Pierre de Ronsard » on the front.
