PATSIANOS is an authentic village with its kafeneion, bakery, street vendors, fishmongers, greengrocers, and grocers all set up shop daily right outside the house, but there are also many small supermarkets in Frangokastello that stay open until 10 p.m.
A PASTORAL ATMOSPHERE with olive groves surrounding the village and the bells of sheep ringing here and there.
The blue sea stretches out before your eyes from the house, and the shady sandy beaches lined with tamarisk trees await you.
You can rent the main apartment for 4 people with 2 bedrooms, and if there are more of you, you can book an adjacent extra bedroom (sleeps 2) with a private bathroom and toilet.(Check rates for 2 bedrooms with the owner)
The beaches of Frangokastello are well-suited for children; they have a gentle slope and no dangerous currents. However, there are also rocky coves for fishermen or those who want to go snorkelling.
Several hiking trails are available nearby: the Kallikratis, Imbros, and Aradena Gorges.
The house is located in the small traditional village of Patsianos, which is very peaceful.
In a small village far from the crowds, our house welcomes you with its terrace: a 180-degree view of the Libyan Sea as well as the islands of Gavdos and Paximadia.
You’ll find two bedrooms, each with a 140-bed, and a bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower. The large living room, featuring traditional architecture (stone arch), includes a cosy reading nook and a kitchenette.
Outside, connected to the terrace, is a third bedroom equipped with two 80-cm beds that can be joined to form a 160-cm double bed, along with its own bathroom featuring a walk-in shower and toilet.
The Libyan Sea, which laps the southeastern coast, is 800 metres away, with sandy beaches, waterfront taverns, or rocky shores and underwater landscapes to explore.
And right behind the house, the trail begins its ascent to the Kallikratis Plateau and its gorges that plunge down towards the sea (KALLIKRATIS, ASFENDOU, IMBROS)—perfect for hiking enthusiasts.
There are numerous historical sites nearby: Byzantine churches and Roman ruins.
FRANGOKASTELLO and its legendary castle are 1 km away; CHANIA and its Venetian harbour are 80 km away; and RETHYMNON and its fortress are 42 km away. If you’d like to visit the Samaria Gorge, nothing could be easier—it begins in Sfakia, which is 12 km away, and you can take a boat to Loutro, Agia Roumeli, and Gavdos.Thrill-seekers can try bungee jumping off the Aradena Bridge, the highest in Europe (summer only).
