17th Century cottage with mountain views on the outskirts of Cardiff
A 2 bedroom 17th century cottage that has been renovated to a high standard. Situated on the side of Caerphilly mountain, the property has been lovingly restored to offer a sitting room with log burner, fully fitted kitchen with integrated washing machine, dish washer and fridge freezer and dining room. There is a free view flat screen TV in the sitting room. The main bedroom has patio doors leading onto a large private balcony where you can enjoy the spectacular views. Great for walkers. Car is not essential as there is a bus stop 10 yards away. The city of Cardiff is just 15 minutes away. Country pubs in walking distance, 3 golf courses within 5 minutes and the historic 12 century castle situated in Caerphilly town. There is horse riding, bowling, cinemas and zip wire fun all situated nearby. The property benefits from central heating and off road parking. The property is on a MAIN ROAD, with easy access to Cardiff, Caerphilly and surrounding areas. At present there is a small seating area at the rear of the property. The remainder of the land consists of wild flowers, trees and lovely views. There is also a clothes line. Please note that there is an 18th Century graveyard next to the property and a main road to the front of the property so traffic noise is possible. This property is strictly no smoking and is not suitable for pets.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cute little cottage. Everything we needed and some very welcome touches like bread and tea coffee. Located on a very busy road made it a little hectic pulling into and out of the driveway for me, but was generally quiet at night. Great location to everything. Would definitely recommend to others.
What a hidden little gem of a holiday let Chapel House is with a great location for exploring south wales, two balconies with amazing views of caerphilly and surrounding hills, the cottage itself is lovely inside all mod cons and ver comfortable

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Disliked: Location
The outside of the property was a little run down however inside the property was very clean and comfortable, the only issues we found were the door to the bathroom from the double bedroom was broken along with the toilet seat that would slip off when you sat on it. Views from the balcony were lovely. The property is on a fairly busy main road but this wasn’t a huge issue for us. Think the outside areas could do with a little attention! Overall very clean and well equipped!
The cottage is well equipped and suited us for a short stay in the area. It doesn't look much from the outside, especially with the chapel next door being empty, but don't let that deter as the inside has been tastefully renovated. There are nice towels and bed linen. Overall a comfortable place to stay.

Our family loved the Chapel house. Clean and comfortable with everything we needed.
This thoughtfully restored cottage made a wonderful home away from home for our winter holidays. The views of nearby Caerphilly were very pretty and we enjoyed walks in the countryside and exploring the town. Being Christmas time we appreciated special touches like decorations and a welcome basket of food.

We are delighted that you enjoyed Christmas at Chapel House. Thank you for the illustrated poem you left in the guest book- it made us smile. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Best Wishes, Laura & David
A clean, well present led cottage that was perfect for our needs in attending an event in Cardiff.
Met by host on arrival with some milk and bread. Fab.
Property exactly as described, well equipped and was cosy and welcoming. Exceptional views from the terrasses. The birdsong was amazing. Ideally situated to visit Caerphilly and its castle as well as visits to Cardiff and beyond. Excellent communication with the owner from the beginning. Would not hesitate to book this property again if we are in the area
Chapel House is cozy and comfortable. The location is close to the Caerphilly center and was a great base for us to explore Wales. The parking was sometimes a little intense but even though the road in front of the house was often busy the house itself is well insulated and very quiet. Laura the host was very nice and responsive. Overall a great stay and we recommend.
So much better than a hotel due to it’s rustic
but modern charm. Close to Careaphilly
and anywhere in the area. Stayed 11 nights
and never slept better. Very clean and well
maintained property with great views.
Lastly Laura was very accessible for questions
and wanted us enjoy our stay while celebrating
our grandsons wedding.

Really good condition and helpful hosts
Great welcome pack with essentials. House is in really good condition with everything you need for your stay. I would recommend having a car if you stay here. Great views as well (when it's not raining). We have a 4 year old and a 10 month old and it was suitable for them with supervision. Would recommend and Would stay again.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Chapel House. Thank you for your lovely review . We look forward to welcoming you again soon. Kind Regards, Laura & David
Great little house with wonderful views. The house was very clean, modern and full of character. We came on a very cold wet evening so getting the log fire on was a real pleasure. There is a little road noise at rush hour like the description says but it would only be a problem for the lightest of sleepers
Laura was very quick to respond to the initial booking and checking in with us that we had all that we needed during our stay. The bread milk and Welsh cakes were very much appreciated.. The cottage is beautifully down out inside. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to use. We loved the wood burner. and there were some gorgeous views from the two balconies at the back of the property. The main bedroom was spacious with a comfy bed. good bedside lighting and the balcony opening onto a Mountain View . The second bedroom overlooked the road and had two single beds - a brighter table lamp would be a good addition. It was great to have the bathroom positioned between the two bedrooms giving an ensuite option to both. The WiFi was good, but we did have a small problem with getting the Netflix to work. Laura said that she would look into it.. We had a really enjoyable stay and will definitely come again when we are next in the area.
Great homely cottage. Easy access location. Easy 25mins to Cardiff city centre. Clean with cosy bedrooms. Fantastic pubs within 2minute drive, takeaways 5 minute drive. Instant communication with owner Laura. Road can get noisy till 11 at night, but didn't affect our sleep. Just have to bear in mind infants need to stay in bedroom away from roadside. Modern amenities and a warm welcome. Would definitely return.

About the host
Hosted by Laura Morris-Lloyd
We have been married for 33 years and have 3 children. We are both lecturers in the education system. Having renovated our own home we take a keen interest in old unloved properties and bringing them back to life once more.
Why they chose this property
I fell in love with Chapel House as soon as I saw the original bread oven and the Christmas tree in the garden. David, on the other hand, took a little more persuading. I watched Homes under the Hammer before attending the auction with my daughter and came home that evening as the proud owner of this wonderful property. However, it needed a lot of TLC. Over the following 18 months we replaced the roof, installed a log burner, central heating and complete rewiring to create a luxurious place to stay. We thought long and hard about the best layout for a holiday let and are very proud of the end result.
What makes this property unique
The stunning views of Caerphilly mountain and the surrounding area can be enjoyed from the personal balcony, leading from the main bedroom. There are numerous walks/activities in the area, many of which are detailed on Caerphilly town is just 15 minutes walk or you can catch the bus which will get you there in 5 minutes. The bus stop for Caerphilly is located directly opposite the front door of Chapel House.
Caerphilly Castle Like the famous cheese, the castle has long been synonymous with Caerphilly. This 12th century castle, surrounded by a series of moats and watery islands was the brainchild of Gilbert ‘the Red’ de Clare, a redheaded nobleman of Norman descent. He also built the original Castell Coch, ‘Red Castle’, located the other side of Caerphilly mountain.
Cardiff is only 15minutes away by car, bus or train.
