Cas Cielo - this seaside cottage may be on a cliff but it's also off...the...charts!

Wow...Your beach is right below you...cliff-high, sweet water cocktail pool...Patio, covered deck, cliff side 'meditation' spots, hammocks over the beach, custom sunbeds...And sunsets over the Caribbean 365-sets a year! Nice palapa on the beach!

Surrounded by mother nature...Her waves, rays and breezes, her sights, sounds and textures...Pelicans, herons, egrets, flamingos, trupials, parrots, bananakeets, sparrows, ospreys, frigates - these are your neighbors. SCUBA? Snorkeling? World Class!...People come from all over the world to dive in your backyard.

You ever see the Milky Way belt at night...Over the sea, listening to the waves and feeling the breezes? Yep, that's what I'm talking about. The constellations Orion and Scorpio transversing the night sky? A full moon setting over the Caribbean? Please. Private. Quiet. Natural. Pretty please.

It's the real deal! Our reputation is built on delivering smiles on arrival! Also ensured is a genuine get-back-to-nature experience where you can focus on each other in a very soothing and uniquely gorgeous environment.

The cottage itself is built on simple, efficient outdoor living ideas but comes with over the top amenities.

Folding doors open directly to the bedroom (no tv...You know what to do about that. There will never be a tv but there is fast and free wi-fi) and you can enjoy the surf sounds, breezes and views directly from the king-sized, custom bed. Or, you can enjoy the natural views from the 4-foot porthole window!

The deck is 450ft2 and has a covered dining and lounging area with two areas for sunbeds and an uncovered area with a pair of anti-gravity chairs.. Stepping down from the deck you can go LEFT to the beach (1 minute walk through the bush-bush) or enjoy resting and sipping for a while in the hammock over the beach... You can go diving, snorkeling, floating, sipping, kissing...There are no neighbors going south for about a mile of coastline! But, if you want you can swim to global top-ten Cas Abou beach (about 20 minute slow swim) and grab a sandwich and a beer, maybe a massage and then rent a kayak or paddleboard and go exploring! Enjoy the best outdoor shower on the dushi island-nation of Curacao! Bonbini! B-i-n-g-o - you're on holiday with somebody you love!

OR you can take a RIGHT and hit the fresh water cocktail pool, sun lounge and terraced gardens! That's gets pretty addictive...Head down the path to 2 separate and private cliff side areas for meals, sips and lounging. Take your pick! The sunset over the sea is spectacular and the cliffs changing from gray to gold is complete nonsense! The moon show?! WOW (still reading?)

I suppose you might want to fire up the gas grill at some point for a nice lomito!

Inside the bathroom is just off the bedroom with simple toilet, shower and sink. The outside shower is an artful, natural paradise.

The kitchen comes fully equipped with a big fridge/freezer, 4 burner gas stove-top, drip-coffee maker, toaster, blender, rice cooker, counter-top oven/microwave and all the pots and pans you (or, the chef!) need.

Folks, it's a simple, comfortable place designed with love and attention to detail...In perhaps the best setting on the entire island!

We’ve been renting vacation homes for over 15 years, and Casa Cielo is easily one of the most amazing we’ve ever stayed in. I’ll admit, I had a few concerns going in — I wasn’t sure if the house or pool would be big enough, if the pool would be too warm, or if it might feel too far from things to do. But every single worry melted away the moment we arrived.The house is private, peaceful, and thoughtfully laid out. The pool was the perfect size and temperature, and the whole property felt safe and secluded — just what we needed. Don and Angie, the house managers, were kind, helpful, and incredibly responsive throughout our stay.If you're on the fence, don’t be. Casa Cielo is a gem — we’re already dreaming of coming back.

We live in Aruba, we have traveled to Curacao many times over. We were looking for a secluded property to spend our 25th anniversary.Location and privacy is over 5 stars, this is exactly what we were looking for. However, the description and the amenities fall short of this secluded property.The unit is basically a small one bedroom studio, with open concept floor plan. There is no cooking exhaust hut, kitchen appliances are also old and run down,all the cooking fumes and odors spread out all the way to the sleeping area. It is unbearably hot to cook in the kitchen. When it is time to turn in and switch the AC on, it takes forever to cool down the room to acceptable temperature.It reads the AC unit cools down the room fast, it is an old unit, and it really struggles to cool down the room within at least 2 hours. We learned this the hard way on our first night.If you want privacy, an exceptional view and eat out for all your meals, then this is the place for you.We wanted to stay there as much as possible, cooking included and that did not work out for us...

40th Birthday Getaway!

Breath taking views and endless ocean life! If you are looking to truly unplug from the daily grand, then Cas Cielo at Cas Abou is THE place for you. This property had everything we needed to have a quiet, relaxing, romantic week away. By far my best birthday yet! We will definitely be return guests. Thank you for the memories!

Wonderful Seaside Stay

My husband and I traveled to Curaçao to celebrate my birthday. We had a wonderful stay at Don's bungalow along the sea. We were in regular communication with Don, our host, which was an added comfort. The place was as expected, secluded, quiet and breathtaking views which included daily sunsets. We enjoyed everything about the property, including the artistic flare, landscaping, pool and friendly iguanas.

Don and Angie have created something truly special here. The cliff top views are breathtaking. The plunge pool was perfect to relax in. The outdoor shower was a nice touch. Our favorite parts of our stay were taking a hike with Angie and snorkeling to Cas Abao beach! 10/10 would recommend.

Did Not Disappoint!

We wanted warm sun, cool breezes, and soft sand and Curaçao did not disappoint, BUT, Cas Cielo exceeded our expectations. Don, our host, created a Caribbean dream cottage. Every glance about this refuge brought another creative montage to our eyes. Seashells, stained glass, driftwood, coral, and more, adorned this charming abode. Below at ocean’s Edge was an enchanted little beach. There was a plunge pool and cozy seating areas all with an unobstructed view of the aqua & navy sea. We explored the island and visited several beaches, each more enjoyable than the last. Don steered us towards various restaurants, all with their own idea of Curacao-style. Everyone we met were friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend a trip to Curaçao and to Don’s unique and lovely living quarters.

Beautiful Getaway

We loved our trip to curaçao! There is a million dollar view from the deck of cas cielo which is truly amazing! The short path from the deck to the beach allows for a quick dip in the sea or a prolonged snorkel around the corner to the lovely beach at cas abou. Seaside Don who operates the cottage is very easy to work with, communicates well, and sends very good info regarding island activities while you are there including snorkeling, restaurants, and hiking. The kitchen is well equipped. For food but especially wine I would drive the 25 minutes to the Carrefour as they have just about everything you will need to drink from white burgundies to Rhones to Bordeaux. We also purchased fresh fish on the roadside which was delicious. I would also mention to birdwatchers that it is easy to see lots of wild flamingos in curaçao (most near Jan Kok) but also many bird species right there on the deck of cas cielo. What a great stay! And don’t forget to do a little cliff jumping at westpunt…

A little piece of Paradise

Our vacation began smoothly with our reception at the airport from Angie , and became awe inspired when we entered Cas Cielo!! Our own private hide away, perched above an un believably blue serene ocean!! We loved sipping our morning coffee on the lower patio, saying good morning to the iguanas, walking down to our own coral and sand beach, and snorkeling in the crystal clear water! Cottage had everything we needed (including A/C) and particularly enjoyed gazing out the huge round iguana window, watching hummingbirds during the day and watching the moon glide by at night. Don ensured our trip went well, even informing us about the local market meeting on the first Sunday of the month, where we got some delicious local food, and saw beautiful handmade artwork and decorative articles. It was over all too soon. We would highly recommend this secluded site for travelers who want to get off the grid and explore a diverse island culture. Thanks so much Don and Angie!!!! Beautiful experience.....

This place is perfect for a private getaway with your spouse. Privacy was key for us and we had plenty. The room itself was very comfortable with A/C which allowed us to sleep well, next to a fully stocked kitchen that allowed us to cook our own meals a couple times. We simply used the rental car and drove about 30 minutes into town to a supermarket and purchased what we needed for the week. The room opens up to very nice outdoor living area with tables and chairs, the little pool and of course the outdoor shower under the trees. The best part was walking down to the little beach area where we spent most of our time. The ocean was calm and we took the opportunity to snorkel and swim along the rocky coast. You must have water shoes as the beach is full of shells, and very little sand. Day or night, the water was just like bath water, and the nights were very beautiful. There was some construction next door to the adjoining property which means Don will have another place to rent soon! We might just have to come back.

Paradise part 2

We stayed at Cas Cielo for the 2nd part of our 8 day vacation. The first 4 were spent at the White Cottage on the same property. Our stay here was just a memorable as the first! We loved the different levels to enjoy our breakfasts and dinners. It was great to relax watching nature at its' finest. Iguanas, Pelicans, Dolphins, and Trupials to name a few.The view was breath taking and we were rewarded with one of our most beautiful sunsets ever. We also hiked one day with Angie and Golan to The Blue Room. A must for all who stay here! After the Blue Room, Angie hiked back with us to Santa Pretu, the black sand beach, where we enjoyed some amazing snorkeling! Back home each day to enjoy our small pool overlooking the ocean and outdoor shower. This cottage also has steps to a private beach with a palpa hut for shade. We also enjoyed the snorkeling here to the left of the cottage. Saw many beautiful fish and an octopus! The water is so clear here that you can almost see fish from the balcony areas! Truly an amazing stay - as always Don and Angie were quick to respond to any question leading up to and during our time in Curacao ~we hope to return!

Nature at your doorstep with 5 * comfort

We stayed for our third stay at Casa Cielo and celebrated our 30 th wedding anniversary. Our fourth stay is already planned for 2016! What more do we need to say, we never go back to a place a second time, but have become kind of addicted. You may ask why..... And here are our addictions, every time we come: Firstly, Don and his little crew are wonderful hosts, always careful to ensure that you are getting the best out of your holiday, always there if you need anything, valuable infos on what's new, where to go during the day and, evening. Don and Angie are two wonderful people and you go home with tears in your eyes as you say goodbye to friends. Casa Cielo is a small cottage right next to the sea. It is perched on an approc. 5 m high cliff with views to the left of the nearly private little beach and out front over the Curacao blue waters and, over to the right, all shades of the artists pallet of blues - from aquamarine, turquise, Blue Curacao (by the way, sip a cocktail mixed with the drink of the Island in your own little pool, over looking all those different hues of blue, who wouldn't want to savour this little piece of Paradise for ever?) The cottage has a large double bed with a mosquito net and rather comfortable mattrass. The kitchen is very well equipped and the small shower/toilet more than adequate. But why the indoors, when the outdoor life is way of the Island. A very comfy sofa area with a professional barbeque grill are on the first level of the deck ( doors to the bedroom open fully onto the deck and sea views), a hand crafted wooden double sunbed aswell as a table with two chairs invite you to sit for hours on end enjoying the views, the many different birds who land practically in the trees next to the deck and sing their chorus of "Food glorious Food", just hoping to get your fruit tidbits. The next level is beautifully landscaped with again sun loungers, chairs, table, palappa and the small private pool. One level further doen, you literally sit over the cliff and are in the first row, so to say. The small almost private beach is accessible via the bush next to the cottage, a minutes walk down and splish splash.... But these are not the only reasons to come to see Curacao. The people are incredibly friendly and great fun to be with, this end of the Island literally in the middle of nature and away from the maddening crowds. There are several really good places to eat out.Or take a massage on the deck with Anouk, who is lovely.

Wow.. wow.. wow!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Don's cottages in Cas Abou. This was the perfect location to stay in Curacao to be able to explore he whole island for the week. We woke up every morning in a comfy bed with spectacular views right from the (optional open air) bedroom. Relaxed on the cliff side patio to enjoy the stars at night. Hung out with super cool wildlife right on the porch (iguanas, smaller lizards, exotic birds, And hermit crabs at night!) They have gorgeous art work, decor, corals, and succulents all over each of their cottages for eye candy. A kick ass plunge pool, outdoor shower and the private access to our own little hidden beach was a mega plus. Everyday we floated around in the cove and used the house gear to snorkel all around the house reef. We swam/snorkeled around the corner to the gorgeous Cas Abou beach and over to Playa Largo exploring some of the coolest and healthiest reefs and fish ever!!!! Besides the kickass accomodations... The highlight of staying with our Super Hosts Don and Angie were that they are the coolest people ever! They were always available via email/Whatsapp, and provided us with a wealth of information and recommendations for living it up in Curacao. This place and our hosts did not disappoint, worth every penny.

The property at Cas Cielo is truly one of a kind. The privacy, charm, and proximity to the ocean and beach are second to none. Don was a fantastic host, alongside Angie. He made himself available to answer questions and provided an extensive curated list of recommendations that included everything from directions and markets, to snorkel hotspots and the best local eateries. The property was extremely comfortable with all the necessary amenities, every kitchen appliance, a quality grill, firm bed, an indoor and outdoor fan, and much more. There were even coolers and beach equipment! You can tell that Don has placed a lot of care into building out this private oasis over the course of his ownership. Would absolutely come back!

The perfect oasis overlooking the pristine waters of Curacao. Our hosts were wonderful, and the space is magical. Outdoor shower, plunge pool, supreme views. Would highly recommend.

Sunset paradise on the turquoise sea

Of all the places I stayed over many many years of travel this cottage is the most beautiful, the most serene, the most private. You know that scene at the end of Ocean’s Eleven where the crew is gazing at the fountain outside of the Bellagio and they’re just collectively exhaling and being in the moment? This place is a lot like that, but with a Caribbean backdrop instead of Vegas. Visit it; cook, drink a little too much, get a sunburn, snorkel with the fishies. It might just be the best time of your life.

Honeymoon Stay

What an amazing place! We wanted to be off the beaten path and we found an island paradise. Don and Angie were both amazing, recommending things and communicating brilliantly. We look forward to going back!

Just Awesome!!

This was a fabulous vacation. The property was incredible. We have never seen an ocean so calm and water so clear, and all of it right outside your back door. Very safe, and the people were very nice. We did our Scuba Diving on the reef just beyond the cottage. We spent so much time in the plunge pool just enjoying the ocean view. The stars we saw at night from the pool were mind-blowing. Don was the best, the information packet he gave is the most comprehensive I have seen. Every restaurant he recommended had great food and service. We are already planning our next trip back to Curacao and we will be staying at one of Don's places for sure.

Pictures do not do it justice!

This place is the Heaven on Earth! The pictures and videos shared online do not do it justice! A true gem to reconnect with each other and embrace the unique nature around you. Don and Angie were exemplary hosts who always responded very quickly and shared any information we needed in great detail. They were very friendly and helpful. The house is very private, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Everything was as advertised and better than expected. The stunning private beach, heavenly scenery, as well as the close proximity (5 minute drive or so) to Cas Abao - the most beautiful beach we found on the island - makes it an unmatched location. If you want to have a unique stay which you may not find anywhere else on Earth, do not look further.

After living 9 years in China, including 2 years as a Peace Corps volunteer...I wanted a change. I came to Curacao to teach history and philosophy, opened a small shop and started a small business managing properties. This is the only property I've ever bought. I've had a back ache for 15 years building the cottages as a labor of love but now, the labor is 99% finished! Just the love remains and I have a lot of fun with the details that make it a truly special place. Introducing new friends to our island and especially to the natural areas of Banda Abou is a real pleasure for me!
