Great September Week

Really nice house. Very happy with it and would stay here again. Garden was bigger than the pictures made out. Table tennis in the garage was a real bonus. Listing could be improved, to mention the 5 bedrooms better. 3 twin rooms - one of each floor. 2 double/king, both on middle floor. Top floor has 1 twin and 1 lounge. Perhaps having single beds that could be easily pushed together to form a double would be helpful. Kitchen was well stocked with everything needed - except a pizza cutter.

Perfektes Domizil

Spacious modern lodge set in attractive private grounds in Strathpeffer.

Sleeps ten comfortably with lots of living space. Looks quite new. Furniture from IKEA. For a high end holiday let, I’d look for more attention to detail, including kitchen equipment, and top level cleaning. The outside of the house and windows could do with attention. There’s a table tennis table in the garage: why not also provide serviceable bats and remove some junk? There is an attractive private lawn and patio. One downside for us was the strimming and lawn mowing at 9am on Sunday morning. Why not do that on the changeover day?

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. The comment about the exterior paintwork is confusing as it has recently been repainted in a grey colour. We do need to get the pictures updated though. Your points about the kitchen equipment and the table tennis bats etc are noted and we will get these resolved as soon as possible.

Less than Enthused!

When the 8 of us arrived from Edinburgh for a 5 day stay, there was leftover food in the sink, the top shelf of the dishwasher had dirty silverware in it that needed to be washed, there were wet towels hung over the drying rack, the master bath had mold in it, the washing machine didn’t work, and we constantly had to push the “boost” button in order to have hot water for showers. I called the caretaker and owner regarding some of these issues and they offered to launder our clothes because we had a strict itinerary that we needed to adhere to and no outfits to wear because we had planned to do laundry the day we arrived. Well, our clothes had been washed by the caretaker, but was brought back to us at 10:30pm wet in bags, and we had to wake up to catch a ferry to Orkney at 4:30am! 😱 We had to make a shower schedule (4 people to shower in the evening, and 4 people to shower in the morning) because the hot/warm waterheater would shut off and we were stuck taking cold showers practically our entire stay! In the end, a new washer was delivered in the late afternoon prior to our departure date and we were able to wash a load of clothes prior to heading back to Edinburgh. All in all, we loved visiting the quaint towns and beautiful sites, but am not sure I would want to stay there again.

I am sorry that you had a number of issues during your stay. When you reported to us on arrival that the washing machine wasn't working we got an engineer round the next day. It was beyond economical repair so a new one was installed (the owner travelled 400 miles to sort this out as quickly as possible) The caretaker, very generously, offered to take your clothes away to wash. An offer you declined, then later changed your mind before giving the cleaner 8 bags of washing! She returned them wet (due to your time restraints) on the understanding that you would dry them in the tumble drier provided. It is unfortunate that you didn't inform us of the problem with the hot water as this would have been easily rectified by changing the timer settings. I'm glad though that you enjoyed Scotland and apologise that your visit to the lodge was problematic. We did try our best to get the problems with the washing machine resolved as quickly as possible but understand your frustrations at having nothing clean to wear.

Very nice and comfortable house

We stayed with 9 people in the Peffer Lodge. We very much enjoyed our stay. The house is comfortable with a good equiped kitchen with a large table to sit and eat and a nice and cosy living room. All the bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable to. On the third floor there is another sitting room we used as an extra bedroom. The garden is great and big. Strathpeffer is a nice little town. We used the house as a base from where we went to different parts of North West Scotland and Cairngcom to watch birds.
