Great Stay at Cuil Lodge
We really enjoyed our stay at Cuild Lodge. The bed in the master bedroom is really big and very comfortable, and I hear the others beds were good too although the mattress in the kids bed is a little lumpy twhich my 4 year old daughter wouldn't sleep on. The house is spacious, and the 2 on-suite rooms were a nice plus. We were running short on towels and Mellisa was able to provide us with extras the next day. Great location, beautiful scenery. We had a great time.

Cuil Lodge - Disappointing.
The property is shabby and lacking an acceptable level of cleanliness. Basic housekeeping sadly lacking, eg broken or missing lightbulbs in lamps, dirty table mats, furniture dusty or dirty, paintwork dirty. 6 guests; 5 kitchen chairs, master bedroom; one bath towel. Entrance to the house is a disgrace. Litter and debris lying around the exterior of the property. A broken - down car in the garden. I have written to the owner but have had no response. Lovely location and Kilmelford is beautiful but our accommodation was really disappointing.

Lovely house with period features, great location, and very helpful owners
We stayed at the house over new year and loved it. The house has been renovated but still has period features which give it character. The living room is a lovely cosy room to sit in with the open fire and the Christmas tree was a nice touch. Everything you need is in the house for self catering, and the location is great with the village hotel opposite which serves lovely food. Village shop is also on the doorstep. The owners were very friendly and helpful and we would happily stay here again.

Bellissima casa nella tranquillità scozzese
Casa molto ben servita e confortevole. Non manca proprio nulla, sembra di stare a casa propria. Veramente consigliata!

My husband, Alasdair and I and our 1 year daughter Lottie, moved to Kilmelford in 1995. Kilmelford is where Alasdair and his family have been here since 1854.
Cuil Lodge was the old fishing lodge for Glenmore Estate and 50 years ago one set of Alasdair's grandparents sold it to the other grandparents and they lived there until Alasdair's grannie died aged 96.
The house has a lot of history and last year we decided to upgrade and renovate it which was great fun!
We re-insulated the walls, put in a new heating system, new kitchen and 2 ensuite bathrooms. I did all the painting so sorry about the wonky lines!
We live nearby in Alasdair's family home, Glenmore House, with our 3 children, Lottie, Angus and Imogen. We do B&B there in case you need another night or treat yourself to breakfast one morning!

Why they chose this property

The area is incredibly beautiful , safe and quiet. You can really get away from the rigours and stresses of everyday life.
It is a lovely old house with great character - old wooden beams and lovely woodwork in the hall and staircase and bannisters but we have renovated and modernised it. So the best of both worlds.
Alasdair's granny was a keen gardener. It is a mature garden and you can enjoy the azaleas, rhododendrons, bluebells, daffodils and snowdrops at different times of the year.

What makes this property unique

Cuil Lodge is an old house with lots of charm but with modern amentiies.

It is next to a Village shop/cafe/post office and opposite the local hotel/pub where they serve a mean pint and good pub food.
