Castello di Montegufoni is an exclusive location to spend wonderful holidays in the heart of Chianti Region.
Dating back to the 12th century and restored in the 17th century by the noble family of Acciaioli, the Castle has a magnificent tower built on the model of the one of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
Montegufoni Castle is part of a large estate comprising vineyards and olive trees and is surrounded by the beautiful Chianti landscape. In the castle there are 39 apartments and a large garden with a nice swimming pool: the perfect spot to relax and have fun with your family and friends.
The Chianti Region is one of the most renowned charming area in Italy for its cultural, historical and enogastronomic traditions. This luxurious Castle offers to our guests incredible holiday experiences (on request) such as cooking lessons, event location, guided tours and more!

Distances from the villa: the small village of Montagnana V.P. with food shops 1 km, Montespertoli with all kinds of shops approx. 5 km, Florence 20 km, Pisa approx. 70 km.
A bus stop with busses to Florence is only a few meters from the castle away. Bikes and scooters for rent are available in Montespertoli.

At guests’ disposal: large and very charming terraced park furnished with garden furniture and table tennis, beautiful Italian gardens (dating back to the 18th century) with lemon trees and swimming-pool (12 x 6 m - open from 01/04 to 31/10). Reception open from 9.00 to 12.30 and from 14.30 to 18.30. The outbuildings of the castle as well were restored and turned into charming apartments. The castle is run by the Posarelli family. A nice restaurant offering nice recipes of the local Chianti tradition is open every night (from April to October except on Tuesdays). Laundry with shared washing-machine (€ 4,- / per washing). WI-FI internet connection available in some apartment, in the reception and restaurant area.

Extra services: on request possibility of renting a baby bed (€ 50,- / per week) and an extra bed (€ 100,- / per week) both payable locally.

wonderful premises, lovely pool and grounds, several excellent places to eat within 30 minutes walk but as property recommend, a car is needed to explore further afield. We stayed there for a week and and were quite fascinated: The castle is set in a wondeful landscape. The pool is nice, the restauarnt was great. Check - in and chek-out were without problems. The appartment was nice. You definetly need a car - but then Florence, Siena and Pisa are within easy reach.

Very friendly personnel, very helpful with all questions. The property was beautiful and well kept. Our stay was the perfect size, the only thing we missed was more storage room in the bathrooms and more comfortable chairs at the pool. But this can be overlooked. Nice central location of the castle and the restaurant was very nice. We dined at the restaurant one evening but when we came to the dessert more than half of them were no longer available so we didn’t eat one. Overall a very pleasant stay, can recommend!

There is much to say here, but I will start with this: Read the fine print. We were not aware until we arrived that this facility did not provide the bare essentials. We had purchased quite a bit of food for our 4 days here, yet it wasn’t until we checked in that we found out they don’t provide any types of dish soap, napkins, paper towels, or even more than one small roll of TP. Their attitude is that you should treat it like camping and pack in the supplies you will need. The check in counter was only open from 9am to 5 pm, so if you need something outside of those times, it will need to wait until the next day. I will say that the staff was very friendly and accommodated our requests for extra fans (because there was no A/C and it was very HOT) and extra pillows. Also, you will need insect repellent and anti-itch cream, because the mosquitoes here are relentless and plentiful. On a positive note, the landscape is breathtaking, and we met some nice guests at the pool. The castle (if you’re lucky enough to get a room in that part of it) was very interesting and spooky, with lots of places to explore. We stayed in the “villas” which were detached and a few hundred yards from the main facility, with far less charm and intrigue. Overall, I would recommend it, as long as you temper your expectations and know going in that it is a 1000 year old castle, and you will live similarly to those folks.

Die Ferienwohnung war sehr gepflegt und sauber. Die ganze Anlage ist sehr gepflegt und schön. Es gibt auch ein sehr gutes Restaurant. Mit dem Auto erreicht man in einer halben Stunde einen Park and Ride - Parkplatz nach Florenz. Ein sehr empfehlenswertes Domizil.

The facility is very old but well worth the stay in a 800 year old plus castle. The restaurant service delicious meal and the whole staff are very friendly and helpful. If you don’t stay here you will miss a great opportunity to stay in such a historical place

Participating in a weddi g was a great experience and the castle is very interesting with many places to explore. It is nice to cool down in the pool and it is possible although sometimes a little difficult to get around with a stroller. The experience would have been better though if the rooms had aircondition. Very difficult to sleep in 30 degrees at night. Although, the rooms have great space and the baths and toilets are very fine. The restaurant at the castle is not worth it. Better to prepare food yourself or go to other restaurants in bearbejde towns or the hotel up the hill.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Castillo di Montegufoni! The Valencia and Stefania were incredibly helpful and accommodating and the restaurant was fabulous. We ate in the restaurant three nights during our stay because it was that good! Our group stayed in a 3-bedroom apartment which was charming, clean and comfortable. The grounds are lovely and the castle is close to several very good wineries. I wish I could have stayed longer! I hope to come back next fall.

The apartment was perfect. The area and nature are amazing. We were 4 adults and 2 children. 3 bedrooms suits well for such a big company. We were suprised that heating costs additional money. It was not indicated in our reservation. And it was our first time when heating was included in the cost of apartment. The apartment is situated near by the castle. You can visit the castle while check-in and check-out. Anyway our stay was really nice.
