About this property

House Paysanne (RdCh)

Ideal for a holiday with family or friends, located in the Drôme Provençale at the foot of Mont Ventoux, Mollans is halfway between Vaison la Romaine (10 km) and Buis les Baronnies (10 km). Mollans- Sur- Ouvèze is an ancient fortified town with a castle, which has now become a peaceful and pretty village with twelve fountains, including the listed ‘aux dauphins’ fountain, 250 m from the house. The house is on the edge of the village, in a quiet street with little traffic, in 2000 m2 of wooded grounds, on the ground floor of a stone house surrounded by lime trees (the first floor is also available for seasonal rental, with a completely independent entrance and outdoor areas). Nearby (5 minutes' walk) you'll find a supermarket, an organic shop, bakeries, a butcher's, wine, cereal and pottery shops, two bars on either side of the bridge dating from the Middle Ages, a restaurant, and on the outskirts of the village in the direction of Entrechaux, a farm selling organic vegetables and fruit as well as a number of local products. A speciality of Mollans, the local variety ‘coco de Mollans’, a small white bean, is part of French gastronomy (used by Alain Ducasse in a menu) ‘Limousin Lamb, haricot de mouton stew-style with “Cocos de Mollans” white beans’.
The accommodation
The arrival is autonomous: you will find the keys on the spot and give it back when leaving. Il will be reachable by phone, and a person can help you in the village.
The house comprises three bedrooms (bedroom 1 to the north/west with a 160x200 bed, bedroom 2 to the south with two 90x200 beds, bedroom 3 to the north with a 140x190 bed), a separate south/east kitchen, a south/north-facing living/dining room with fireplace (woodburner) and north-facing terrace, and a bathroom with WC, washbasin and bath.
Outside, you'll find garden furniture including tables, chairs, deckchairs and a hammock, as well as a barbecue.
Two parking spaces are available in the garden to the north, as well as a private area to the east in front of the entrance and a private courtyard to the south. Please note that the entrance to the property may be difficult for wide and/or long cars. I advise you to look at the last photos in the presentation to check accessibility. If you can't get into the grounds, you can park at the village entrance 300 m away.
Many activities are possible: you can go for a walk directly from the house all around Mollans, go to the climbing sites, climb the hill towards Montagne de Bluye, or go further towards Buis or the Dentelles de Montmirail where there are many possibilities.
Several bathing sites (Toulourenc and Ouvèze) are accessible between 10 minutes and 20/25 minutes by car, or you can walk straight down from the house to the banks of the Ouvèze for a cool dip. Rock-climbing enthusiasts will be delighted by the renowned sites of Mollans, Buis les Baronnies and the Toulourenc gorges, and the guide office in Buis will be happy to offer you a wide range of options (via Ferrata). The descent of the gorges du Toulourenc is a great success. In terms of culture, the Vaison la Romaine festival and the Avignon festival (60 km away) will delight you. Many musical evenings are organised in the region during the summer, as well as various exhibitions. Gourmets will love the markets (Tuesday in Vaison, Wednesday and Saturday in Buis, Thursday in Nyons), and visits to wine cellars (Côtes du Rhone). Finally, of course, the Ventoux attracts many cyclists, and you can also go horse-riding.
The surrounding villages are all beautiful and well worth a visit (Puymeras, Faucon, Séguret, Gigondas, etc.).
Other comments
We accept dogs, but we expect their owners to respect a few relatively simple rules: they are not allowed on the sofa or armchair or in bed. And last but not least, please pick up after your dog!
