About this property

Luxury one-bedroom apartment (sleeps up to 4)

Sleep in the hugely comfortable, lavender-scented bed in this sunny apartment fitted out to the highest standard - and so centrally situated that you can walk, in 10-15 minutes, to Buckingham Palace.. Our aim has been to create a top-quality-boutique-hotel-experience in a unique self-catering apartment - while fitting it out for families, including with young children.

PLEASE NOTE - the reason there are no recent reviews for this apartment is that it has been on a long-term-rental throughout the pandemic period and is only becoming available for holiday rentals again from August 2022.

This lovely apartment here is situated on the second floor of a Victorian period house (built in 1855). The apartment is interior-designed in soft grey, 'cashmere’ and mauve. The ‘mood’ lighting includes background light sources, which can be set to rotate as colour-change (see the photographs).

With large traditional (yet brand new) double-glazed sash windows to front and rear, this bright apartment is flooded with light. South-facing into the afternoon sun, the spacious living/dining/sitting room is fitted with every convenience: unlimited Broadband; underfloor heating; substantial wall-hung SMART TVs (there’s one in the bedroom, too) wired into the WiFi network and with pre-paid access to Netflix; USB ports in power sockets; fold-out end-tables to each side of the custom-made sofa bed so you can ‘lounge’ while working at your laptop; a mango-wood dining table and four matching dining chairs (you can use this table as a desk); a stream-lined, well-fitted kitchen with all modern conveniences; ‘art’ photographs on the walls..

A cot and high-chair (clip-on to the dining table) are provided - and the apartment sleeps four adults comfortably. Two sleep in the bedroom, where again there is ‘mood’ and colour-change lighting, a phone-charger/radio/alarm clock and USB charging points to each side of the bed. The mattress (150 cm – 5’0” – wide) is ‘bespoke’: firm and supportive while, at the same time, allowing the sleepers to feel as if they are floating on a cloud. In this cozy bedroom, a ‘hidden’ dressing table with hairdryer, as well as two concealed drawer units, clothes-hanging-space (more in the large cupboards in the sitting room), make the most of every inch of space.

Another two people are accommodated in the sitting room on the highest quality double sofa bed . Our ‘Bedeck’ bed-linen is of the highest hotel quality.

The bathroom is small but perfectly fitted, with a powerful shower over the bath, and atmospheric lighting and discrete ‘grab handles’ to make the bathing experience safe and secure for older guests. We also provide high quality bath-and-shower products, with two deep, fluffy towels and a face-cloth for each guest, as well as make-up remover pads and cotton-wool-balls.

We believe we have thought of everything for your comfort (although we always welcome further suggestions!) The underfloor heating in the sitting room can be boosted by the central heating system, and there is a heated towel rail in the bathroom, and cooling fans for the summer months in both main rooms. A groceries-hamper, together with fresh bread, milk and butter, welcomes you. In the kitchen, dishwasher and washing machine tablets sit beside the relevant machines; a bone china dinner service, wine glasses and champagne flutes and a very good range of cookware and other food preparation tools make ‘eating in’ a delight. We even leave jotters, pens and pencils to capture sudden thoughts – or shopping lists . . .

Cleaning and maintenance are to the highest standard. This is a real home-from-home with every detail attended to by the owners, who keep a sharp eye on the whole operation and are on hand to deal with any issue immediately. For bookings longer than ten days, we provide interim clean/linen/towel change free of charge,

The street in which the house is located is in the sought-after ‘Pimlico Grid’ – a grid of residential streets laid down by the planner Thomas Cubitt beginning in 1825, and now protected as the Pimlico Conservation Area, and subject to elaborate traffic-flow-measures to inhibit through-traffic. The apartment is whisper-quiet.

Within the Pimlico Village, in the district of Westminster (Zone 1), the apartment is a few minutes’ walk from excellent supermarkets, some of them open 24/7 and wonderful restaurants. The transport links are amazing. There are taxis galore and you are under ten minutes’ walk to Victoria Mainline Station and to the nearest Underground (‘Tube’) station (Victoria Underground in Victoria Mainline Station). The best bus in London stops just before Victoria Station: the No24, which carries you past the Westminster Cathedral, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, No 10 Downing Street (the residence of the Prime Minister), Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery, on its short ride into the West End, Covent Garden and ‘theatre land’.

Victoria Coach Station is just five minutes’ walk away with coaches providing quick and easy links to London airports and ferrying you away from London into the wider countryside, to the ferry terminals and even onto Mainland Europe. At Victoria Coach Station you will also find a range of car-hire companies. From Pimlico, if you hire a car, there is easy access to the A3, leading out of London. For visitors from Europe, St Pancras International Station (where the Eurostar ‘docks’) is a 10 minute direct tube ride away, from Victoria Underground Station.

More specifically, ‘the Alderney” is a minute's WALK from a gastro pub and a FIVE MINUTE WALK to a host of other great restaurants and coffee shops, the local stores of all kinds (from nail-bars to hardware shops), banks, phone shops, post-office, supermarkets and specialist delicatessens, a cab rank, and city bike and car hire and coach links to the Continent, to the English countryside, and to all the near-London airports; and an EIGHT MINUTE WALK to the amazing transport hub of Victoria Mainline Station, which also includes buses to every part of London, as well as Victoria Underground (‘Tube’) Station and the Gatwick Express train. Two major theatres are adjacent to Victoria Station.

It’s a 10-min WALK to the River Thames, and to the King’s Road (Chelsea), the National Army Museum and the Royal Hospital Chelsea, home to the annual Chelsea Flower Show. It’s a 15 minute WALK to Buckingham Palace, Tate Britain, Lambeth Palace, Westminster Cathedral and St James Park. A 20 minute WALK takes you to the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, No 10 Downing Street, the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre, the Cabinet Rooms (with their World War Two display) and the major government buildings on Whitehall. And, in the other direction, to the Chelsea Flower Show.

Short tube/bus rides take you direct to Harrods, the major Museums in South Kensington (or you can walk to them in 40 minutes), to Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, the West End, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, the National Gallery, the National Theatre & National Film Theatre, Hayward Gallery, IMAX, Waterloo Station, Tate Modern., the Globe and National Theatres.

workable for two
Nice flat for two with good fridge, washer and shower. Second floor so very challenging to bring two big suitcases up the narrow staircase after a flight from the states. Great communication with owner on a few resolved items. Would stay here again.

Lovely flat in great location.
The property met all our requirements. It was close to Victoria Station and walking distance to small shops and places to get a bite to eat. The flat was very clean with extremely specific instructions on where everything was and how everything worked. The place was cozy and comfortable. The host communicated all pertinent information and left some lovely snacks and drinks. Overall, great place.

Lovely home away from home
Our family of four (parents, 15- and 10-year-olds) enjoyed our recent one-week stay at this flat. The unit is compact and requires hauling luggage up some stairs, but these weren't issues for us. The decor is attractive and the unit had everything we needed to relax between outings. We enjoyed opening the large windows, using the kitchen, reading/playing video games at the dining room table, and watching T.V. The location is great -- an easy walk to transit, major sights, stores & restaurants, and the Tachbrook Street Market. The owner/property manager was very responsive. We had a good experience and would definitely stay here again.

A Wonderful London Flat!
We had a lovely time in this apartment. I traveled with my 10-year-old son and my mother. The space was the perfect size for the three of us and had all the necessary amenities for a week-long stay in London. Directions from the owners were perfect and we had no issues finding or accessing the apartment. A lovely welcome basket with snacks, bread, and wine awaited us along with jams, coffee, butter, and milk -- perfect for settling in. The location was also great -- a quiet street that offered a bit of a reprieve from our busy days out and about in London. Nice restaurants (we loved Sole Mio!) and small grocery stores all within walking distance. Victoria Station is a quick walk as well. There are a few stairs up to the apartment (4 flights, 2 are shorter). We had a lot of luggage with us (as we had been traveling the prior two weeks as well), so that is something to keep in mind. All in all, a lovely stay -- would recommend to family and friends!

About the host

Host profile image
This is a family-run business.: parents Adrienne Burgess & Martin Cochrane; daughter Juliet Cochrane. Juliet is a mother of small children and a yoga teacher. Adrienne and Martin are a couple who have worked mainly in the theatre and the arts, although Adrienne is now a writer/researcher specialising in fatherhood and Martin works as a communications coach. We have been renting out properties for almost 40 years and are supported by a devoted housekeeping team, two of whom live locally and can pop round whenever needed. We also own and rent out a wonderful seven bedroom house a few streets from this apartment.

Why they chose this property

The apartment is so light and airy and situated in such a lovely house in such a beautiful street, that we could not resist it! Various family members and friends have lived in it over the years. Now that they all have homes of their own, the time has come to share it with visitors to London.

What makes this property unique

So luxuriously fitted, so centrally located and with such wonderful transport links! You can walk just about anywhere in London that matters, from the front door, or take the shortest of bike, bus or tube journeys. And the house itself, in which the apartment is located, is unbelievably quiet - both inside and out.
