This place is an absolute dream for me!!! It's peaceful and quiet which is my idea of a great vacation! The location is amazing as well! You are just 10 minutes from everything you need and there is a restaurant you can walk to a quarter mile down the beach. The only things not mentioned that you need to be prepared for are the bugs (no-see-ums) and that you need water shoes for the beach. Other than that you are set!!!

Thank you Amy for the suggestions. I will add them to my letters. It must be the season for the nsthem, I have never noticed them but the wind was blowing off the ocean. Next time you come I will have the weather cooperate. Oh and yes, Water shoes are a must on any beach as far as I am concerned. Dave
Beautiful and comfortable home (comfy beds!) In a safe neighborhood. Great ocean view and access. The beach really is very quiet and clean and not many other people are around. I brought my parents, who like to be comfortable and do not like big crowds, and this was perfect. Watch for sting rays and octopus sightings in the shallow water and make sure to go snorkle out by the rocks to see some other marine life. Recommended for anyone that really wants to relax and enjoy the sea. Thanks!

Thank you, Jessica, and I agree with you. The best part is how private and comfortable our villa is. We welcome you again with open arms. One time I was in the water with a friend, and a big black stingray, wingspan at least 3 feet, jumped out of the water within 10 feet of us. It was our National Geographic moment. It was beautiful. Then he started heading toward us and we just shude him it away. A moment I will never forget. Another time I found a starfish the size of a dinner plate, that was golden orange in color. Picked it up and when I turned it over, I could see the little legs moving. And immediately put it back in the water. If you do pick up a starfish and it shows size of being alive, immediately put it back in the water.
We escaped the bitter cold and enjoyed the "much better" weather in the perfect location. Everything was great as always.

Sorry, Matt, forgetting far behind with my response to your very kind review. We do hope to see you all again. I thank you in behalf of the owner, Yvoungar and myself for choosing to stay with us again, Dave
My Family had a wonderful stay! Pictures truly do not do it justice! The house has everything you would need. The beds are very comfortable and the views are amazing. The beach was quiet and the snorkeling was fantastic. Reef right outside your house! Great communication and very responsive whenever a question or issue came up. Wonderful people to work with and would stay here again in a heartbeat. Enjoy the house and property!

We had 4 weeks at the property and it was ideal for us. It has a great view of the sea and all that you need might need. It was very peaceful during our whole stay. Would definitely rent it again.

Thank you, Nicholas, for the very kind review. I, too, think the view off the back porch is great. I love to eat at the table looking at the surf. It is the most beautiful view I know. We do hope to see you and your family again soon. Dave
The house was lovely and very well stocked. The setting was beautiful-at the edge of the beach. The large porch was a great asset. The host had been helpful before arrival and the house manager welcomed us warmly

Thank you Roberta for the very Kind review. We try to make sure our guest are pleased with our home and that all their needs are met. We do hope to see you return in the future.
Family of all ages had the most wonderful time. Huge house with everything you could need. What’s best: the location. Start and end your day on the ocean view porch. Take a walk up and down the beach. Go from private beach walk, up to the Banana Bay restaurant…eat, drink, swim, relax. Dave and Yvounger are the best hosts we have ever dealt with. Communication was prompt and overly helpful with getting us prepared for our stay. Yvounger met us at the car rental and brought us back to the house…what an amazing welcome! Thanks so much Dave and Yvounger, this vacation checked everything off our list!

The owner, Yvounger and myself thank you for the wonderful review. You highlighted all of our favorite points to share with our guest and especially potential renters. Hearing it from former guest is our greatest asset. We do hope to see you again soon. Thank you, Dave.
If you’re looking for a quiet beautiful place to relax and enjoy time with family and friends, this is your spot. It’s rare that a rental home is even better than the pictures, but this place exceeded our expectations. Our experience with the owner was the best we’ve had, and his on-site hostess was super helpful. We’ll be back.

Oh Nicole, thank you for the wonderful review. I do hope we can get pictures that help describe how wonderful it is there, but at least I guest are more surprised when they arrive. Thank you for choosing to stay with us and especially for the kind words to our team. We do look forward to seeing you again. Dave.
This is our second year staying in this beautiful home and we love it. We go to the Bahamas each year to do a community back-to-school event and last year we fell in love with this home and will book it always for our stay. The quiet area, the location, the view, the beach, the owners, and Yvonne were fantastic in all ways and we can't wait to return. The pictures here don't do the view justice it is just awesome!
Thanks for everything

Nothing pleases us more than returning guest. We look forward to seeing you again and hope your next visit was better than the last. We take pride in our reviews, and hope that the readers truly understand what a wonderful vacation home we offer. Our back deck has been completely refurbished and the owner is in the mode of upgrading and decorating to make the home a wonderful and warm welcoming location. Our location has a lot to offer but our home is a pride and joy.
Everything was perfect! The house the beach, the weather (and it even rained), the West End Ecology Tour, the car rental agency (KSR) and the house manager Yvoungar all made this trip heaven!! The only thing they could add but I didn’t have to have are beach chairs. This was our second trip so we came prepared by packing wind blown seats for the beach!
The house and its location are absolutely amazing. Three large bedrooms each with walk-in closets and bathrooms. Large living room with comfy chairs and long dining room table. However the best part of the house is a wide porch that runs from one end of the house to another with gorgeous views of palm trees and blue ocean. We spent hours on the porch drinking coffee, reading a book in the hammock and eating meals at the outdoor table. The beach was only 50 steps from the porch and was gorgeous - - white sand, blue waters, basically deserted and perfect for long walks. Everything about the house, the beach and the location was perfect for a relaxing vacation!!

WOW! Thank you Kim and family for the wonderful review. You have captured what I feel everytime I am lucky enough to stay there. The owner is a wonderful lady that thrives to keep the high standard up for her guest in hopes that they will return soon. I can't think of a better way of starting the day on that back porch, having breakfast watching the waves come as the breeze make you feel alive like never before. Please return again, you were wonderful guest.
My wife and I visited this property when it was for sale a few years ago. We decided to pass at that time and stay in the US. We knew we would be back soon and try to stay here, and we did. We mutually decided that we missed the boat and should have bought this perfect house. Luckily the new owner is gracious enough to let others enjoy the house and surroundings and we will be back for sure. We did not watch one second of TV the entire week and only ate out at 2 of our favorite places, Banana Bay and Dolphin Cove...both of which we highly recommend. We will be back for sure.

Absolutely amazing home, truly was a short walk right to the beach! THe home was well, well equipped for anything we needed! so many dishes to use. The float tubes were a lifesaver as the water was a bit chilly because of the cold snap:-/ But the house was way more accommodating than expected! Large Bedrooms and everyone has private baths. Air Mattress wasn't working but plenty of extra space for the teenager on the couch!
Dave and Yvonga gave us great information for the island. Yvonga met us at the airport escorted us to the house and then escorted us to the grocery store!

thank you, Jessica, for the very kind review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay, and do hope to see you return. Thanks for the heads up about the air mattress, we were not sure if it worked or not, and no one has used it for so long. It's good to know it's time to replace it. Last time it was used, there was no complaints, so we figured it was still good to go. And of course, that was a couple years ago. But now we know and we thank you for that. If you have any other suggestions, please send them my way. Thank you again for choosing us, Dave.
The Fortune Cay area of Grand Bahama is the perfect place for a peaceful and beautiful beach vacation. The property manager, Dave was very responsive to our questions during booking and sent us email reminders about COVID guidelines, getting through customs and the check-in process. Yvounger met us at the car rental shop, took us to the house, waited patiently while we enjoyed the amazing view and lead us to the closest grocery store. Be sure to ask her about her guava doff dessert! Delicious!
The house was very clean and plenty spacious for our family of four. It is only 40 yards from the beach via a well-maintained walking path and not close to any resorts, so it is never crowded. There are two reefs just off shore with beautiful fish, rays and barracuda to find and watch.
We highly recommend walking the beach to Banana Bay for lunch and the Stoned Crab for dinner, which is a 7 minute drive from the house. Also consider swimming with dolphins at Unexso that is down the street from Stoned Crab. It was a highlight of our trip!

I am sitting here reading your comment, and I got chills on my legs... I am not lying. Well, the A/C did just kicked on, but one of the best reviews we have received. I may have to go swim with the flippers when I return. Thank you again for the great review and we do hope to see you and your family again soon.
This is an amazing property and wonderful support staff. Great communication. The location is perfect if you want a beautiful, empty beach at your doorstep. Very peaceful and quiet.
Amenities and WIFI great. The kitchen is well stocked and the grill looks new.
Dave, the property manager, was easy to work with and responded quickly to any questions. Yvounger, the local host, met us at the car rental and helped us get settled. She is a sweet person and quite helpful. All in all, a great operation.
The villa is in a gated, very safe, community. In fact, we find the people on Grand Bahama to be very friendly and kind.
We always rent a car (a must) from Brads. This is another great business to deal with. The cars are not new, but well maintained. Any issues are dealt with quickly. Driving on the island is simple compared to many other islands, as it is quite flat with mostly straight roads.
There are many great restaurants nearby, our favorite is a quick walk down the beach.
This was a most relaxing vacation. Do not hesitate to consider this villa if you are looking for a beautiful, quiet, relaxing beach vacation.

EXACTLY what we needed!
We were so happy with this rental, especially since it was our first time using VRBO to book a vacation. My husband and I brought our two small children and their grandmother to Grand Bahama for a week and wanted to have an easy, relaxing, and fun vacation. This house was in the most beautiful spot, and was nicely furnished. The best part for us was it's proximity to the beach, which made it super easy for us to enjoy sand, sun, and swimming fun between naps! (Not to mention the lunch restaurant a short walk down the beach was probably the best restaurant we went to). We felt very taken care of, and communicated with by the property manager and the woman they've hired to assist with things on-island. She was great, met us at the airport and led us around some of the sites before leading us to the house, and then communicated via text with any other questions that came up during the week. The ONLY small negative was that we were told there would be a highchair to feed our baby, but they were unable to find one in time and didn't let us know until we asked about it after being there a day. Despite that, the kitchen was very well-stocked, the bedrooms and bathrooms spacious and comfortable. We spent a lot of time on the covered porch, and had dinner out there every night that we ate in. Thanks for helping us have a fantastic vacation!

Was great, except for the unpaid guests (spoiler alert- house had mice)
House would have been a 5 if not for the mice. Yes, mice (plural). The Good: House is really beautiful.Kitchen has everything you'll need. Beds are comfortable, furniture is cozy.View is tremendous. There is a reef not 30 ft. from the shore. Great snorkeling. Yvounger was great to work with-my kids (2 girls 17&15 and boy 11) liked her instantly. She was distraught over rodent issue. Dave was nice to work with prior to visit & even after when we disagreed on refund. Unfortunately, he had to communicate on behalf of an owner who only communicated thru Dave. I found the whole situation bizarre. The Bad- the reality of my "relaxing beach vacation" came into focus on the 2nd night when my daughters were awakened to a mouse IN THEIR BED. I have video of this. The next day Yvounger brought glue traps. The next night we had 2 mice run into the living room. We managed to trap and kill both. If you're counting, that is 3. At this point my wife is beside herself and each night we had to put towels under each door threshold and hope more didn't get into our beds. Thursday we awoke to one in my sons room. Son slept with parents for remainder of trip (romantic right?). All in all I trapped and disposed of 4 mice. They had an exterminator come out mid week who did very little. Our food remained in sealed bags and off counters the entire week. Everyday was filled with taking inventory each time you walked in a room. My stress level was high the entire trip. Wife's was off the charts. I do believe this was an isolated incident but the fact of the matter is my trip was filled with rodents and not what i expected or paid for. Result: I was provided a gift card for $200 to be used only at the big resort on the island. 3/4 of resort is closed and all but one restaurant so was unusable and i returned it. They offered to put us in a hotel on Thurs but w/ 3 kids and $300 of groceries this was just not feasible. Owner reimbursed me $500 and offered another $500 only after i had to convince them that i wasn't "fine" with what happened. Can you imagine having to argue this point? Also, it was contingent only AFTER a positive review. I told them i was uncomfortable with this and got an email reply from David on owners response-"I was instructed to send you nothing". I was incredibly gracious and kind during the entire experience. I did not get equal kindness or graciousness in return. Just something you should consider as you choose your vacation destination.

All renters fear the day when you have that guest that you wished had not arrived. Little did I know that they would be furry with four tiny legs.
First let me say, the family that were staying, gave me and our staff, a very nice impression throughout their stay, to deal with what happened to them on their vacation.
When I found out that a mouse had invaded their space, I was shocked. Every square inch of that house is very well built. Not a hole in any wall or ceiling.
Yvounger, one of our crew, immediately went to the house and took traps. We also contacted an exterminator who was there that next day. The following night there were 2 more mice in traps. As soon as I heard this, I contacted the owner and he agreed that we should move them to a hotel. I called the only 5 star hotel in Freeport, Marc always goes first class, and they had a Suite with a kitchenette and it was available. Called my Crew and told them that we were going to see if they would move to the hotel. We even offered a $200. credit card for a dinner for the inconvenience. Our mistake was asking and not insisting they move to the hotel that day, But he said he was ok with the traps.
After they checked out, everything changed. I was then informed that they were all very stressed out and he felt that the offer for the free dinner and the hotel was not enough compensation for what they went through. His quote “To say I'm disappointed in the whole experience would be an understatement. Definitely not a first class experience. My honest review on VRBO and trip advisor will reflect the situation. It will be fair but accurate.”
After receiving this message, the owner then agreed to send them what we felt was a fare compensation. After sending him the money, his reply was not what we expected. His quote.. “I am not satisfied with just a $500 refund.” He felt he deserved another $500. or he would leave a review as you can see by his quote above, that would not please us, on both sites. The only way the owner would agree to send another $500 is if he were to give a favorable review first. All he had to say was “Nice house, Nice beach” and we would have been satisfied. To my surprise, he then countered with “First send me the money and believe me, you can trust me, I will do a good review”. The owner told me to send him nothing, let him write it. I would rather have a bad review than to be blackmailed. It will never end.”
To future renters, this took place in July 2017
and now, no mice
About the host
Hosted by Dave Kimbrell
The owner, is from Louisiana and is a big fan of the island. They recently purchased the Villa, and she has been adding her charm and expertise to the property.
Why they chose this property
It was Love at first sight, but needed some love and attention. So with the great carpenters the owner found on the island, the beach house was transformed into a lovely getaway home. The city of Freeport is the perfect Bahama location. The water here is the perfect Caribbean color, it takes your breath away. The islanders are incredibly friendly, and they love the tourist like no other place you have traveled to. The location of our home is perfect. Just a five-minute drive to two Waterparks that have everything for water activities that you could want, with a bar and restaurant for you pleasure. One is free and the other is a minimum entrance fee. Masseuse on call and water jets to rent. But most of all is the quite peaceful atmosphere that our location gives you.
What makes this property unique
Your own beautiful private walking path, only seconds to the beach. The island isn't that big, so you don't get lost for long. The sunsets and sun rises are spectacular, that you can enjoy with coffee or a cocktail in the evenings. You will love walking the beach, not many people at all, and I make each sunset a must. A beautiful getaway and stress-free life. Our favorite lunch is to walk to the beach and turn left, and walk 10 minutes to a favorite local hangout. The food is wonderful, and you can meet many friends and enjoy the fun with an island cocktail of your choice. Also, the Lacaya Marketplace is very close to the villa as well as the Grocery store. We never wanted to leave the house, but when we did, the restaurants that are at the Lacaya Marketplace are so close that you have the hardest time figuring out where to dine. So many choices, and they all are good, or they want to last long. The locals have started many businesses that cater to the tourist, including deep sea fishing, Bone fishing is one of the biggest draws to the island, jeep tours, cave diving, water jet boards and all the water fun at the park next to us, you could want. The dolphin experience on the island is the best you can find anywhere. All of these factors were an easy pick for this location.
