Why Edwina D. Dixon chose Freeport
While I have traveled many places around the world, I travel to the Bahamas, more specifically Freeport, more than anywhere else. I fell in love with this island many years ago in the 90's and have been a frequent visitor since. Since my retirement, several years ago, I decided to purchase a beach vacation property and looked at many properties in Georgia, Florida and S. Carolina. As soon as I saw this condo, I was hooked and I knew it was the right choice for me. I love it here and I know you will love it too!
What makes this Condo unique
One of the primary features that I love about Paradise Vista is it's beautiful panoramic views, which caused me to give it it's name! I can sit for hours in one of the 5 reclining seats and feel a sense of serenity and peace looking at the water, the birds and the sunsets. Or lay in bed in the Master Bedroom and gaze for hours. I love the fact that it's a ground floor unit with no steps to climb! Very good benefit for aging knees. I love that it's so spacious and that each bedroom has it's own private bath, a plus for a large family or a group of friends. I also like the fact that it is a quiet, gated community where I feel safe and secure. I can park my car right in front of my unit without having to go upstairs, through hallways, elevators or a large parking lot. A real plus when bringing in groceries or luggage! Although Paradise Vista is somewhat secluded and off the beaten path, it is centrally located and a very convenient drive to restaurants, movie theater, shops, grocery/liquor stores, airport, fishing, snorkeling and other activities and sites. The pool is right in the front of the unit and is seldom crowded. There is a small boom box in the living room and a nice collection of CD's for your listening pleasure. I enjoy reading, so there's a small library of novels to enjoy. Sorry guys, mostly romance novels. But if you want to take one, please leave one. I've also included a starting supply of toilet paper, paper towels, soap and lotion, coffee, tea & sugar, salt, pepper & other seasoning for your use. I can arrange for groceries and spirits to be purchased for you and placed in your condo prior to your arrival (requires 1 week scheduling in advance). We can also recommend a rental car agency to use for the rental of a vehicle during your stay and/or a taxi driver for transportation to the many sites and activities that you're sure to enjoy. (Additional costs will apply). Primary guest must be 25 years or over to rent this condo.

My family of four( 2 adults, 1 pre-schooler and 1 baby) lovedevery minute of our stay in Edwina’s condo. We had everything that we needed including a breathtaking view. It was incredibly quiet which is what we wished for. Edwina was quick to respond and went beyond expectations by getting us a playpen, high chair and beach toys for our kids.
We can’t wait to return!
Spectacular views !
Everything you could need was there! Was super comfortable! Felt at home! Talk about private beach! We lived in the water to the left of condo!
Thank you for your great review! It is most appreciated and thank you for being such a wonderful guest. You left the condo in such a clean and orderly manner which is also appreciated! I'm glad to know you and your family enjoyed yourselves and found everything you needed at the condo.and hope you will come again sometime in the near future.
A wonderful at Port of Call condos!!
Had a wonderful ten days at Bahamas Terrace ( Paradise Vista )! Shakirra was as pleasant and as helpful as ever and Edwina has upgraded the condo to the nines. Everything was better than anticipated. We caught nine bonefish and snappers galore...we even had an encounter with a small shark! He released himself thank goodness!
We did a lot of cooking and had all the utensils we needed to do the job. The sunsets were the evening focal point and it was very nice to have drinks with all our old and new friends on the patios.
We highly recommend this HomeAway offering and would love to do it again.
Thanks again for the lovely vacation Edwina and we hope to talk to you again soon!
The place was everything it advertised.
My family and I love the location and the quite.
We hope to return soon.
Edwina is a great host.
Hello Dennis & Rochelle,
Thank you for your great review! I am so happy that you enjoyed yourselves while at my condo! That means a lot to me. I'm glad you had a safe trip back home and I do hope you will find the time to come back and stay with us again very soon. You were great guests. And please tell your friends about us!
The view and water is a photo picture
Edwina is the most wonderful owner you could meet. The condo bedding, furniture and kitchenware were excellent. Only a few issues; very low water pressure, screens on sliding doors need some work , A/C could have been cooler and grill grates should be replaced (rusted) All minor and did not affect are great vacation. The restaurants are average at best, cooked in more than we really wanted to. Not a lot of tourist on the island of Freeport. They never really recovered from prior two hurricanes.
Thanks for submitting your review and your kind words and compliments toward me and my condos furnishings. I'm sorry there were some minor things that didn't meet with your approval and caused a less than excellent overall review. As you know, we had an enormous amount of rain and wind for a couple of weeks before and during your visit. As a result, there was also a lot of salt water and sand spray on the patio and patio doors, which does cause them to stick periodically and may be causing some rusting on the bbq grills. I will make sure that is taken care of. I do have a system that monitors the thermostat to maintain a certain temperature and it may have not have been set low enough for your preference. I wish you had mentioned it to me while I was there.
The Bahamas is a small island nation of only 400,000 people spread out among the 30 islands that are inhabited. Freeport is a small laid back city that has a population of only about 26,000. As you noted, they along with numerous other Caribbean islands and US cities were hit by several hurricanes, which has caused some businesses to close. However, the people there are so resilient and continue to work hard to provide a great, relaxing and culturally enriched vacation experience for visitors to the island.
I understand the government is purchasing the large hotel and casino in Port Lucaya which will open soon with many more restaurants and bars, as well as the beachfront in that area. I hope you and your family will come again and give us another try.
The island of Grand Bahama is surrounded by sun-soaked beaches and miles of crystal-clear ocean water; making it a prime place for a number of water activities. From scuba diving, snorkeling, paddleboarding, and fishing, to glass-bottom boat tours, banana boat rides, and parasailing, there is no shortage of activities for visitors. Several postcard-perfect beaches like Gold Rock Beach offer soft, sugar-white sand and plenty of beach bars and restaurants. Shoppers will love the Port Lucaya Marketplace for local crafts, souvenirs, and live musical entertainment.
The dolphin swim is a popular attraction that will leave a lasting impression, or animal and nature lovers can also check out Garden of the Groves, a wildlife center that transports travelers to a tropical oasis full of birds and other native animals. Several tour operators offer eco-travel adventures including kayaking in Peterson Cay National Park, hiking in Lucayan Nation Park, or exploring some of the island's legendary blue holes and caves.
In the evening, join in music and dance with the bonfire on the beach, a local tradition that takes place in the sand. Be sure to check out some of the local businesses and restaurants where you're sure to find some of the best Bahamian food and prices.
Sire's Bahamian restaurant and bar has some great food and is only 5 minutes from the villa across the street from Pollo Tropical (next to Burger King) and next door to a gas station. Banana Bay is great for a beachfront lunch and cocktail. It's about 20 miles east of the villa, but well worth the trip. If you want some nightlife, dancing from Thursday to Saturday nights at Club Neptune's in the front of Port Lucaya Market Place is sure to please. Say hello to Rosie, the owner or try out their newest restaurant and bar, Kalypzo, in the square and give a shout out to Tessa, one of the friendly bartenders. Port Lucaya's Count Basie's Square is lots of fun for the whole family. It has numerous restaurants, bars and shops, as well as a straw market. On Friday and Saturday evenings, there is usually live entertainment or a DJ for your dancing pleasure. An ATM that dispenses US funds is also located at the Lucayan Hotel. On Sunday afternoons, at Tony Macaroni's beachfront shack, you can enjoy live jazz on Taino beach, your favorite drink and a snack of conch salad, grilled fish, burgers and hot dogs. You can also find some water sports for more fun in the sun.
Please feel free to contact me before or during your trip for more specific information and recommendations.
