Located in the historic town of Nérac, in Gascony, South west France, the house is easily reached from Bordeaux or Toulouse via train and is just a short drive to San Sebastian in Spain. It’s the perfect base from which to explore the surrounding wine regions and a great “home base”.

Sejour tres agréable au coeur de Nerac dans une maison pleine de charme

Nois avons passé une semaine tres agréable dans cette jolie maison, idéalement placée au coeur du vieux Ndra, très bien équipée et pleine de charme. La propriétaire Mardi a été très accueillante et la communication tres fluide. Je recommande vivement!

Amazing location in Nerac and beautiful home!

Our stay was perfect! Mardi, the owner, was wonderful to work with and the location was central to so many beautiful sites! We cannot wait to come back!

She is a Food Revolution Day Ambassador for Toronto and hosts adult cooking and baking classes in Toronto. In 2018, she published her first cookbook (In the French Kitchen with Kids, Appetite by Random House). Neil works in the 3PL industry and is an active Rotarian. Having completed his wine & spirits certification, he furthers his knowledge of all things vinous as a member of the French Wine Society and Society of Wine Educators. He is the “wine chap” for Mardi’s website, and is passionate about global travel.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Gascony back in the summer of 2012 after taking a food photography workshop in the area. We love that it's so "undiscovered" yet there is SO much to discover - great food and wine (and Armagnac!), beautiful countryside, quaint towns and very friendly people.

What makes this property unique

maison de la fontaine is conveniently located just steps from the summer night market (June - Sept every year) where you can enjoy local food and wines and entertainment with the locals! Just minutes from the fabulous Saturday morning market and a 20 minute drive to Agen. The house is close to both Bordeaux and Toulouse making it the ideal home base for day trips in the area.
