Casa Artuico is an independent holiday home for up to 4 guests, with a private, fully fenced garden, located within a historic castle, in the heart of one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages.

This charming 75 m² stone house was once the residence of medieval guards and has since been transformed into a quiet and comfortable retreat.

Carefully restored in 2012 with great respect for the original materials and proportions, the house features terracotta floors, exposed wooden beams, and a warm, authentic atmosphere - ideal for guests who appreciate genuine historic places and tranquility.

Casa Artuico is located in the historic centre of Strassoldo, one of I Borghi più belli d’Italia (Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages), a small, authentic village that is still very much lived in.

The historic centre consists of two contemporaneous fortified complexes: the Castello di Strassoldo di Sopra, owned by our family for over one thousand years, and the Castello di Strassoldo di Sotto, belonging to our relatives.

Beautiful Location

We really enjoyed our time in Strassoldo. It was a great location for day trips to the beach and Venice. The accomodations were clean and beautiful and the gardens were great. We'd certainly recommend it to others.

Great time in a beautiful and extraordinary place

We stayed in a beautifully renovated apartment right in the castello di Strassoldo. Very well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, big modern bathroom and beautiful private garden in addition to the even bigger garden of the castle that guests are also allowed to use; great Wifi, easy parking . Very friendly and helpful owners, communication was super-easy. Great location for trips to Grado, Aquileia, Venice, Triest etc. We enjoyed eating and relaxing in the beautiful garden very much. It was hard to leave and we hope to be back soon. Thank you Gabriella and Nidia!

Zauberhaftes historisches Ensemble. Sehr freundliche und sehr hilfsbereite Gastgeberin mit Team. Perfekt auch mit Hund, da separater und eingezäunter Gartenbereich. Netter kleiner Ort mit allem was man braucht. Verkehrsgünstig gelegen für Ausflüge z. B. nach Udine, Grado oder Triest.

Die Ferienwohnungen sind Teil eines malerischen, historischen Schlosskomplexes und bieten ein einmaliges Flair. Wir hatten das Turmhaus und haben den Aufenthlat sehr genossen. Die Räumlichkeiten sind geschmackvoll eingerichtet und unsere Wohnung verfügte über eine neue Einbauküche von hohem Niveau. Es bestand direkter Zugang zur wunderschönen, großzügigen Gartenanlage mit Sitzgelegenheiten sowie Gartentischen. Wir wurden von der Gastgeberin überaus herzlich empfangen und betreut. Der Ort ist ländlich ruhig und es gibt nur wenige Schritte entfernt ein tolles Restraurant sowie eine Cafe/ Bar, wo man sehr gemütliche Stunden verbringen kann. Mit dem Auto sind große Supermärkte keine 5 Minuten entfernt.Im Ort selber gibt es einen kleinen Lebensmittelladen.

Sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtete Wohnung

Sehr schön eingerichtete Wohnung, solche Ferienwohnungen findet man selten in Italien. Die Lage ist gut für Ausflüge nach Udine, Slowenien, Triest, Venedig. Die Wohnung hat Terrasse und Garten und Zugang zum Schloßpark. Wir waren bei Temperaturen bis 37°C dort. Es gibt eine zentrale Klimaanlage, die vollkommen ausreicht für angenehme Temperaturen innen. Es war alles sehr sauber (bis auf den Kühlschrank). Das Doppelbett war etwas schaukelig und durchgelegen. Das Einzelbett ist nicht mehr wie angegeben durch eine Faltwand von Küche / Esszimmer trennbar, sondern durch einen Vorhand, was aber ok war. Was nicht verschwiegen werden sollte: es gibt unglaublich viele Mücken, die auch tagsüber und trotz Anti-Brumm-forte (30% DEET) oder des freundlicherweise von der Vermieterin bereitgestellten Mittels (50% DEET) stechen. Im Garten ist das ein Problem, in der Wohnung dank Klimaanlage und vergitterter Lüftungsöffnungen nicht, wenn man die Türen schnell zumacht. Vielen Dank an Gabriella und Nidia für alles!

Sehr schöner Urlaubsaufenthalt

Einfach schön

Wir haben unseren Urlaub in Castello Strassoldo sehr genossen. Wir wurden wirklich nett begrüsst, es gab ein Fläschen Prosecco vom Winzer am Ort und frisch gebackenes Brot von Gabriella. Einen Spaziergang durch den Park, welcher das Schloß umgibt, haben wir fast jeden Morgen gemacht. Es war wirklich ein sehr erholsamer Aufenthalt. Danke.

Kleines Steinhaus mit Garten

Nach unserem einwoechigen Aufenthalt in der Casa VICINIA nebenan haben wir das einzig noch verfuegbare Haus, die kleine Casa ARTUICO gebucht. Auch dieses Haus (in Reihe) hat uns gefallen. Unsere Nachbarn waren sehr ruhig; auch wir wollten ruecksichtsvoll sein: Beide Haeuser sind nur durch zwei schlecht schliessende Tueren voneinander getrennt; auch bei leisem Dialog kann man leider z.T. hoeren, was im Nebenhaus gesprochen wird. Unser Wohnzimmer lag direkt neben einem der Schlafzimmer, das genutzt wurde. Daher war es z.B. nicht moeglich, des Abends fernzusehen, da die Nachbarn frueh zu Bett gingen. Im Interesse der Mieter waere ein Schallschutz zwischen den Tueren demnach wuenschenswert.

Wunderbare Zeit

Die Wohnung hat unsere Erwartungen übertroffen. Die Einrichtung ist liebevoll, die Küche bestens ausgestattet, dass Bett superbequem, der Garten und die Schlossanlagen traumhaft. Am besten aber ist Nidia, die gute Seele des Hauses, warmherzig und jederzeit hilfsbereit. Zum Willkommen buk sie uns ein leckeres Brot, sie organisierte uns ein Leihfahrrad und half auch noch mit einem ragazzo aus, der uns 2 Frauen das eigene Fahrrad auf den Dachträger hievte. Danke für alles! Hoffentlich können wir bald wiederkommen!

Un angolo di paradiso

Unterkunft mit Flair

Eine ganz besondere Unterkunft mit historischem Flair. Authentisch renoviert und top ausgestattet. Zentral gelegen und trotzdem findet man dort Ruhe und Erholung. Ich liebe alte Gemäuer und habe mich dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Es liegt natürlich in der Natur der Sache, dass Ende Oktober warme Hausschuhe bei einem alten Steinboden von Vorteil sind.

Strassoldo - wunderbar!

Wir kennen Strassoldo nun schon seit vielen Jahren, haben dort auch immer während unserer Friaul-Aufenthalte gewohnt. Dieses Wohnobjekt war allerdings neu für uns und wir hatten uns sehr darauf gefreut (zumal auch die veröffentlichten Bewertungen sehr gut waren). Leider wurden wir enttäuscht, da wir nicht alles so antrafen, wie wir uns das - auch aufgrund des Mietpreises! - erwartet hatten. Als wir ankamen, war das Haus eiskalt, es war einige Tage lang nicht vermietet gewesen und die Nächte waren in dieser Periode extrem frisch geworden. Leider konnte man uns nicht dabei weiterhelfen, die Heizung in Betrieb zu nehmen. Angeblich sollte jemand kommen, um dies zu erledigen, aber leider geschah nichts dergleichen. Zum Glück sind wir am zweiten Tag selber draufgekommen, was der Grund war und konnten das Problem lösen. Abgesehen davon, ist die Ausstattung des Hauses mit Geschirr absolut verbesserungswürdig! Abgeschlagene Kaffeetassen, einsame 2 Weingläser (offenbar einmal irgendwo aussortiert, eines davon war bereits "blind") und generell "aus jedem Dorf ein Hund" in der Vitrine etc. Da mit "Kochen, Genießen, Wohnen" geworben wird, erwartet man diesbezüglich natürlich mehr. Ein Tipp noch: Vielleicht könnte man das Bettzeug vor den Neuanreisen besser reinigen oder lüften, da es äußerst unangenehm war, auf schlecht riechenden Polstern zu nächtigen! So etwas waren wir von unseren früheren Aufenthalten nicht gewöhnt! Ebenso nicht, daß sich die Gastgeberin selber nicht zeigte, ein kurzes "Hallo" aus der Ferne, als wir im kleinen Garten vor dem Haus saßen und sie zufällig auch draußen unterwegs war, war alles..... Dieses Mietobjekt ist an und für sich ausgesprochen nett, ein altes Steinhaus mit Flair. Aber auch verbesserungswürdig und das ist sogar ohne großen Aufwand, ohne hohe Kosten, aber eben mit etwas mehr Liebe zum Detail möglich! Dann kann auch die Bewertung besser ausfallen.

Süßes Haus mit traumhaftem Garten

Das Haus war genau wie beschrieben: ein altes, schickes Steinhaus mit einem wundervollen, eingezäunten Garten. Das Bett war sehr groß, die Küche hatte alles was man benötigt und die Klimaanlage hat gut funktioniert. Lediglich der Wasserdruck im Bad war für lange Haare etwas schwierig. Der Check-in war mit einer sehr freundlichen Italienerin, die leider kein Englisch sprach. Aber es hat trotzdem alles super geklappt. Dank Händen & Füßen und Google-translator ;) wir hatten am ersten Tag Probleme mit dem warmen Wasser, was aber direkt von der Gastgeberin geklärt wurde! Zu erwähnen ist noch die extreme Mückendichte - aber dafür war sogar extra ein Bodyspray und ein Spray, das wie eine Barriere wirkt (fragt nicht wie, aber es hat tatsächlich funktioniert) vor Ort. Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen!

Urlaub in freundlicher Umgebung

Das Haus steht in einer wunderbaren Umgebung, welche auch geschichtlich einiges zu bieten hat. Wie die zum Teil stark zerstörten Obiekte wieder hergestellt wurden, bewundere ich jedes Mal wenn wir wieder bei Lella und Nidia zu Gast sind. Wir haben uns geborgen gefühlt wie in einer grossen Familie. Lella und ihr Team sind sehr tierfreundlich. Das zum Haus gehörende, eingezäunte Grundstück ist sehr gross und wurde von uns und unseren Hunden auch rege genutzt. auf der Suche nach einer Bleibe ( incl. unserer franz.Buldogge) in der oberen Adria sind wir auf dieses Ferienhaus gestoßen. Hervorragender Entschluss. Prachtig huis met een geweldige tuin. Van alle gemakken voorzien. Inrichting is zorgvuldig gekozen. Er ontbreekt niets. Gastvrij welkom van de Nidia.

Gabriella Williams di Strassoldo is the current owner of the castle of Strassoldo di Sopra. Her mother inherited her family's estate in awful conditions in the Sixties. The place belongs the counts of Strassoldo since it was built more than a thousand years ago. Like her mother, Lella felt obliged to look after the complex and helped her mother as much as possible since she was very Young, so the two of them alone dedicated their life to the maintenance and restoration of the castle.
The lack of money and aid forced them to face many difficulties, but year after year there were improvals and the complex has now acquired its ancient beauty.
The complex is formed by a central building and a series of houses once used for administrative and rural purposes, the whole is surrounded by centuries old gardens washed by spring water courses. Many parts of the complex were complete total ruins up to 20 years ago.
Gabriella grew up in Britain, Germany, Austria and Italy and speaks fluent English, French, German and Italian. She, therefore, brought her experience and different mentality to Friuli-Venezia Giulia, implementing many touristic activities that involved also other castles of the Region.
She organised many fund raising activities (exhibitions, visits, weddings, workshops, presentations, etc.) with the aim to carry out the heavy restoration works.
After renovating many parts of the main building of the castle and its garden, she brought back the Archives, which had been sold by her grandfather, in 2001, and immediately started restoring its ground floor and garden. In 2009 the the rice mill, which had partially collpased was also restored and turned into bed and breakfast, with four double rooms, which are open from mid April to mid November.
In 2012 the guards' houses and the Vicinia, which had collapsed, were restored and turned into holiday homes. There are now three lovely self catering and independent Holiday homes, each with its own garden
