About this property

Waterfront beach house

Our home away from home is perfect for family, friends, or just a quiet getaway. It has a fully equipped kitchen, flat screen TV with basic cable and a DVD player in the family room. It has three bedrooms. The first guest room has two twin beds and a full bed, the second bedroom has a queen and a twin bed, and the master bedroom has a king bed with connecting bath. We have linens for every bed with extra pillows and blankets. There are linens in both bathrooms. We also have a washer and dryer for your convenience. It is located on a canal, and has access to two private beaches on the Mississippi Sound. You can reach the ocean one block up the street. There are spacious decks in the front and back of the house with a swing and a charcoal BBQ grill. So pack your bags and come have some fun at the beach

Absolutely loved the location and Meredith was extremely responsive throughout our stay. The property was very clean (with the exception of the cooking utensils) and generally comfortable. For our planning before we arrived on the island, it would have been helpful to know more clearly what was provided for necessities (starter supplies only, no toiletries) and that there were no beach chairs or a cooler to borrow. That said, we really enjoyed the porches and walking the beach!

We are a family of 2 adults and 4 kiddos and this property was perfect. It was our first time on the island and the location of this house is amazing!! It is not on the beach, BUT it faces water in all directions just about. When other reviews say the house is only 2 min walk from the beach, they’re absolutely right. For those who grew up country, it’s like a walk to the end of the driveway, not far at all. It was clean, smelt nice and we were provided nearly every basic thing you’d hope to have in a rental. I seen complaints about “ water spots” and “separating flooring”, okay y’all, it’s an older home at the beach and none of those things affected our stay AT ALL! It was beautiful, quiet and the host was well accommodating. Also, the bunk bed room has cleaning supplies for your stay, the two bed room has a nice size closet with some hangers for hanging clothes, the master suite has a closet for the owner to store extra linens or supplies I’m sure. There is a nice dresser with lots of drawers for clothes if you’re not like us and live out of your suitcase My input for your stay is, bring flashlights for crab hunting, beach chairs and a tent, rent bikes and golf carts ahead of time and make reservations at all the restaurants as soon as you get there. All the souvenir and grocery shops, are so fair on price. It was one of the funnest places we’ve taken our family and we cannot wait to return here next year! Also want to add, this was such a family friendly, safe place.

Everything about our stay was wonderful. Meredith was a responsive host who rescued our already scheduled Dauphin Island trip when our first host was unable to host us at the last minute. The house is in a perfect location to get to either the Gulf beach or sound beach. And it was the perfect size for all three generations of our family!

This home was as described. Plenty of room for our family. We fished, walked the beach, checked out several sights on the island: Fort Gaines, the Audubon Bird Sanctuary, the Aquarium/ estuarium. The food was wonderful, shout out to Foxys Waffle Bar ( best breakfast), and Pirates Bar and Grill . We were all able to enjoy some much needed family time away from home. The views from the house were amazing. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets! Til the next time…

We had a GREAT time. The kids loved the crab traps at the house. We caught many crabs, catfish, jelly fish and even a sting ray. The house was very clean and comfortable and the beach access was just perfect. The house fit my husband and I, my in laws and both our kids very comfortable. Communication was very very quick. We would definitely stay here again!

Pros: House is at an amazing spot just as described. The canal is right by you. The bay is across the street. The beach is a 2 min walk. So pretty much you have 3 bodies of water by the house.The wrap around porches are amazing. They have great sitting areas that you could enjoy every time of the day and choose sun/no sun.There are a lot of beds so the house could sleep a lot guests.ConsThe house needs repairs and maintenance.Floors (Laminate flooring) are separating from movement of house and there are serious gaps in between the planks. There are past leaks and water stains and paint peeling pretty much on all the ceilingsThe digital control of the oven does not always work. Only sometimes.The ice maker does not work (we were told not part of amenities offered)Pretty much all of the closets but one full of cleaning supplies are locked for owners use. So 0 closet space.No hooks anywhere. There is literally no place to hang and dry your hooks.I was given a King size pillow with Queen size cover. No attention to details.Again, a great house, great location, great bones but owners have some repairs to do.

I’m glad you enjoyed the beach and location it truely is one of the best parts of our home. I apologize if there were some items you expected that were missing. We do provide hooks on the back of each door that you must have missed. Also both guest bedroom closets are available for your use. One had a broom and vacuum in it for your convenience in case you had a spill or needed it while staying. Also the pillowcase size must have been an oversight by our cleaning crew and I apologize. Again thanks for staying! Hope you got to explore and enjoy some of the charm of the island. It’s a hidden gem.

Beach bums

Checked in on a Monday, the host got with us the next day informing us that she had someone coming to fix the broken ice machine on the fridge, she stayed in contact with us and answered any questions we had. Unfortunately one of us got stung by a sting ray while there, she even reached out checking on us! Would highly recommend this beach house within a few minutes walk to the main beach, or go out the back door and swim in the canal. You could even go across the road and be at a more private beach with not near as many people. Great place to stay! Very clean, and absolutely no issues what so ever!!

Do not recommend.. the refrigerator did not work and when messaging the owner she replied with “maybe you left it open too long while unloading groceries” and then “I will pay for some bags of ice” which also never occurred.. the owner was messaged 5 hours after check in about the refrigerator.. the light also did not work in refrigerator.. the kitchen was not the cleanest.. the ceiling had water damage and well as cracks throughout the ceiling and flooring.. the entire place was not the cleanest.. chip crumbs in kitchen cabinet.. under the bed was completely filthy.. the listing is deceiving to say the least

This house is in the perfect location. You have the canal for your boat, right across from a beach on the sound and just a short walk away from the Gulf. Perfect for one large or two small families. We have stayed here 3 years and are ready for the 4th. Supplied perfectly to cook at home, well decorated and always clean.

Spring break getaway

We were very pleased with our stay. Was close to the waters ,which was exactly what we wanted. Was happy that the stairs had gates so that our young grandkids couldn't fall down the stairs. The seagulls took bread right out of our hands on the deck,so that was pretty cool! My older daughter and family that went with us have now booked it for June.
