About this property

Country Retreat Brittany Sleeps 4 + Cot, Heated Pool, Free Wifi, Pet Friendly

Fuchsia Cottage has been fully refurbished to a high standard and has two bedrooms to sleep four people plus a cot. It sits in the beautiful Breton countryside with lovely walks and quiet country lanes. We have plenty of bars and restaurants, supermarkets, churches, banks and Boulangers within very short distances and plenty of amenities in and around our area to keep all ages entertained.
The ground floor comprises an open plan living area with English and French satellite television, dining area and a well equipped kitchen area with a gas cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer, electric kettle and a coffee maker. An air source heat pump provides heating and air conditioning. There is a ground floor Shower room with walk in thermostatically controlled shower, vanity unit with wash basin and toilet. Upstairs there are two comfortable, carpeted bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds.
We make up all beds ready for your arrival and provide a bath towel for each guest. The towels are for interior use only, you will have to provide your own pool/beach towels.
Outside, there is a private sitting area with patio table and chairs and a barbecue.
A Travel Cot and highchair can be provided at no extra cost. Free Wifi Access.

Also on site is our three bedroomed gite, Laurel Cottage, which sleeps up to six people plus cot.

We do have our own animals including a few dogs and several cats and our guests are welcome to bring their pets so long as they are well behaved and kept under control at all times. There is an additional charge of £50.00 (55 Euros) per pet for the duration of your stay.

Between the months of September to May any heating used is an additional charge. As well as the air source heat pump there is an electric heater in each of the bedrooms of this cottage.

Other than mentioned above, all costs are included in the price quoted except for electricity. We have inline meters in each cottage which are read upon your arrival and on the day of your departure. Units are charged at exactly the same price as we pay our Electricity Company, no profit is made on the charge whatsoever. Payment will be required on the day of departure.

Little hideaway

The house was smaller than expected, but lovely. Shower was a bit too tiny and we missed some kitchenutensils (siff, frying pan), but the pool was great and we absolutely loved the pottery. Very happy with our own creations.

Had a 10 day stay in Fuchsia Cottage ideal size for our family of 3. Gill and Martin were fantastic hosts and nothing was too much trouble and the 2 dogs were so friendly too. The pool was amazing, so clean and a nice constant temperature.Great games room for the kids and pottery with Gill but unfortunately we didn’t get time to do it. Would definitely recommend a stay here with the nearest small town only a few minutes away with a small supermarket and a great restaurant in the town square Thanks again to Gill and Martin for a great stay.

Lovely clean cottage, not the biggest but suitable for a holiday. Everything was very clean, comfortable and the cottage was equipped with everything you need. It's a little hard to find initially! The pool again was clean and lovely. My kids enjoyed plenty of time just them in the pool and sometimes sharing it with the occupants of the other two gites. They loved the games barn, visiting the animals out the back and also did some craft in the barn, glass fusing. Really lovely hosts and the area has plenty to do also.

Lovely stay, despite the weather

Gill and Martin were very accomodating and nothing seemed too much trouble. We even did some pottery with Gill. The accommodation was very good. Fully equiped with everything you need. One of my essentials is a good shower and we definitely had one here, with instant piping hot water. British TV was also a major bonus too, seeing as it was not warm enough to sit out at night. Swimming pool was very good and they kept it heated every day. When the sun came out, it was even better. The only thing we would have changed was the weather, but that's something you can't do. It has been an unusually wet summer in mid/northern France, so don't let it put you off.

Fantastische cottage met vriendelijke eigenaars

We zijn hartelijk welkom geheten door gastvrouw Gillian en we hebben regelmatig onze gastheer Martin gesproken.We hebben genoten van het kleine, gezellig ingerichte cottage huisje. De extra faciliteiten zoals het zwembad en workshop aardewerk vielen erg in de smaak.

Niet wat we verwacht hadden

In de koelkast stond melk en water klaar voor onze aankomst. De koelkast is wel heel klein en maakte veel lawaai. We kregen ook een fles rode wijn en werden ontvangen door de gastvrouw. De keuken is heel klein en de kasten waren binnenin vuil. Ook de pannen waren niet proper. De badkamer was ook hee klein en niet proper. Wel voldoende toiletpapier aanwezig. Geen fohn of zeep aanwezig en de ventilatie werkte niet. Het toilet bleef doorlopen en het spiegellicht werkte niet. De keukentafel is heel klein om met 4 personen aan te zitten en ook de zetel is heel oud en oncomfortabel. Er is ook onvoldoende plaats aan het huisje zelf om op het terras te zitten. De bedden waren fris opgemaakt maar ook hier te weinig hygiëne. Het zwembad werd wel elke dag proper gemaakt en daar was wel voldoende ruimte en speelgoed. Volgens de advertentie was er ook een dvd speler aanwezig, maar dat was niet het geval. We hebben wel 1 ontvangen op vraag maar er was geen afstandsbediening. Ook het strijkijzer en de droogkast werkten niet. Kortom geen aanrader voor mensen die houden van hygiëne en basiscomfort.

Sehr ruhig und wunderschön gelegen

Das Vermieter-Ehepaar wohnt gleich nebenan und ist sehr, sehr freundlich und entspannt. Das Haus ist klein, aber fein. Sehr nett eingerichtet, es fehlt nichts. Es waren wunderschöne erholsame Tage für uns! Es hat viel Spaß gemacht, die Gegend zu erkunden. Viele schöne Ausflugsziele sind von der Unterkunft aus gut zu erreichen.

Maison simple mais efficace :)

Le logement est plutôt simple mais les équipements avec la grange avec tous les jeux ( baby foot, table de ping pong, petite table de billard, table de hockey sur air et pleins de jouets pour les enfants) et la grande piscine chauffée est très appréciable. De plus Gill et son mari sont très sympathiques.

Gill and Martin moved to this most beautiful part of Brittany from England in 2001, having lived in Essex for the previous 25 years. They took over the property in Cornean with its two existing gites and have enjoyed the company of a stream of varied and interesting people holidaying with them for the past twenty four years. Many of these visitors, they are delighted to say, visit them year after year and have become good friends. The swimming pool and gardens were a huge bonus and when the barn next door came up for sale it added to their dream of having a pottery and craft studio on site as well. Gill teaches regular pottery and craft classes each week, to which guests are more than welcome to join in. Their dream was further realised when they added a little hobby farm for rescued animals.

Why they chose this property

Our property is very central and as such it is no problem to get to a great variety of interesting places, beaches, golf courses, shops and restaurants.
On site you can enjoy the heated outdoor swimming pool and the games barn with bebefoot, table tennis, pool and a full size snooker table.
Both cottages are equipped with English and French satellite television, hairdryers and irons and have access to washing machine and ironing facilities. We also provide free Wifi access.
Cots and high chairs can be provided also free of charge.
A linen service is available at a cost of £5.00 per person, per week, whereby we make up whatever beds you require and also provide towels, for bathroom use only, ready for when you arrive. You can also bring your own bed linen.
Two course, Evening meals can be prepared and left in your cottage by prior arrangement at a cost of 25.00 Euros per head.
A chauffeur and baby sitting service is available, for a small fee, if you would like to have a nice adult night out on your own.
Gill also has a two storey barn conversion studio overflowing with pottery and craft equipment where you can try your hand at handbuilding pottery, glazing techniques, painting techniques, glass fusing, serviette craft, jewellery making, scrapbooking, card making, crochet, knitting, patchwork and take home a unique work of art. Everyone is welcome in the studio beginner to the more experienced and Gill will fit lessons around the other things that you want to do on your holiday.

Brittany is a most beautiful area of France that has its own unique cultures and language. It is a most green and pleasant land, as the song says, and will allow you to breath in pure fresh air, smell the daisies and recharge your batteries.
