Amazing views of the IJ canal from alll windows! Great location: quiet neighborhood only 20 minutes (walk and tram combined) to Amsterdam Central. Maria was very helpful and responded quickly to questions. The apartment had everything we needed.
Loved this property. It was comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen and a washing machine. It had a lovely little outdoor space in which to relax and unwind, watching all the boats and barges on the river after a long day of walking and sightseeing in the city. A short, free ferry ride to grocery stores or a lovely stroll in the other direction, across 3 locks to 'Landmarkt', a lovely organic grocery Easy tram ride to Central Station. We highly recommend this property.
Great location with view over waterway. Tram 26 is just 15 minutes walk away, takes you right to Centraal station quickly. Maria is an excellent host, with lots of helpful information. She was kind and generous, leaving us food for our first night, so we did not need to go out shopping. The cottage has all the amenities you need.
Beautiful self-contained unit looking out over the IJ canal. Enough removed from the city to be very peaceful. 10 minute walk to the tram station and about 10 minute ride to central station.Maria is a very welcoming, friendly host. Lots of suggestions for sight seeing and where to grocery shop, etc. The kitchen was stocked with enough food that there was no need to go to the grocery the night of arriving. We had use of her bikes for the duration of our stay, had a day out riding the many bike paths around the canals to the northeast of the city.Very comfortable beds, unit was not lacking for anything. Highly recommended if you are looking for a place that is quiet but has good access to the city.
My daughter and I had a lovely time staying at Maria’s cottage. The location was so quiet and peaceful and we loved looking out at the boats. Maria was so kind and helpful with anything we needed (including how to use the washing machine). We used the trams (a short walk away) to get into the center of town. n response to an earlier review, the shower has a mat in it and did not seem at all slippery or unstable… we highly recommend Maria’s place!
Maria is an incredible host. She was easily reachable and she offered ideas and let us know about events while we were visiting. She also had food and wine for us so we did not have to run out after a long day of travel. The bed was very, very comfortable and the shower had great water temperature and pressure. The property was quiet and lovely. It was about a 12 minute walk to the number 26 tram that gets you right into central station in Amsterdam in about 10 minutes. It comes regularly but be advised - it stops running at 12:30am. We loved our stay! Thank you, Maria!
Our 5 night stay here was delightful! Our host Maria was very helpful and generous. She stocked us with all the basic supplies plus extra; eggs, granola, milk, cheese, yogurt, fruit, pasta, wine, cookies, nuts and more! She even drove us to the Central train station on our last day! Using their bicycles locally made getting back to and from the tram stop a breeze. The accommodation was spacious with lots of light and had a rustic cabin feel in the countryside. The beds were one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in and the nights were quiet and peaceful. It was such a restful place where we could recharge after a busy day. We highly recommend Maria and her delightful abode!
Maria is absolutely the best host I’ve ever had. She accommodated my friends and I perfectly and was always thinking of us. Not to mention the property itself was gorgeous and perfectly fitted our needs. We look forward to staying here again!
The riverside location was wonderful and unique, visually inspiring and especially suitable for enthusiastic walkers. Easy access to and from the madding crowds, with the joys of Amsterdam available in many directions.
A more thoughtful and helpful host would be hard to find.
This vacation rental is like a house in the country, but just ten minutes away from Amsterdam Central. Views of watercraft moving on the river can be seen out the windows. The host is very helpful and friendly. Tram 26 away from the city goes to Ijburg where we found a nice bar called DOK48.
My daughter and I immensely enjoyed our stay. The location was quiet, convenient to the city and interesting since you could watch the boats go by. The best parts: watching the sunsets and the birds in the water. Maria was very accommodating and informative. She checked with us frequently to see if we were comfortable-Thanks Maria!

Home away from home
My daughters and I really enjoyed the quaint property. The bedding was clean, crisp, and the beds were comfortable. The cottage held all of the essential items that we needed for our stay. Maria also took the time to show us how to access the tram, and she was kind enough to pick us up from the train station.
What a pleasant surprise, first the location was perfect. After exploring Amsterdam, coming home to a quiet place, sitting outside, and watching all the boats go by.
The place was perfect for two people, the kitchen had everything you needed. The beds were good too.
Maria was an amazing host, even pitched a tent outside for one of us to sleep in and drove us to the airport.
She was always available for questions and suggestions on where to explore.
We highly recommend Maria’s place.
We had a delightful stay at Maria's light-filled, waterfront property. The unique location, comfortable rooms and well appointed kitchen made us very happy! Maria thoughtfully stocked the fridge with some necessities and treats to make our stay more comfortable, and was a friendly, helpful host thoughout our visit. I wish we could have could stayed longer! I would return - and recommend it to friends - in a heartbeat.
We had the most amazing stay here. Maria was very attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. We were able to check in early, which was amazing as we had traveled many hours and our flight landed quite early in the morning. The view is great and I spent most every evening watching the boats and listening to the birds. Although this house looks small, it has everything you need for a wonderful vacation. It's a short scenic walk to the tram station, which takes you right to Amsterdam Centraal and everything you could possibly want to do. Overall I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Will absolutely have this house on my places to stay again, and you should too!
I’m not sure there are enough words to say how wonderful this place is. The setting with the water and all the boats and ships going by was so much fun. The fact that you are so close to everything and yet you feel like you are in your own private oasis. And then there is the hosts. Maria is truly the most extraordinary host. She is helpful and delightful and an all around lovely person.
We can't say enough wonderful things about this property! The location is incredible! You are a short walk from public transport but located on the Het IJ waterway with full windows facing the river . Your views include all of the interesting boat traffic as well as the city of Amsterdam across the waterway from a quiet natural setting !
The property itself is very comfortable and includes everything you may need for a very comfortable stay!
The Hosts are simply the best! Very helpful and accommodating in every way! This is a great place to stay and enjoy a full range of all the things that Amsterdam has to offer! Bill and Mariah Finnicum
We loved staying in the house, which felt like a home, and would highly recommend it to other families.
The location was perfect for us as we were able to get out of the busy centre of Amsterdam and enjoy the peace and quiet. This was especially good for our children. Tram 26 makes it easy getting in and out of the centre .
The view of the canal and city is excellent and we enjoyed watching the boats passing. The children loved the swing and playing in the garden.
The host Maria was so kind to us, making sure we had everything we needed and sharing icecream and delicious blackberry sauce.
Though getting there requires a short train ride from the station, it runs frequently and is a straight shot to the destination. There’s also a 10 minute walk, but there were blackberries growing along the way for sustenance. The property was sweet with a beautiful view of the harbour which was just feet from the back door. It was green and restful and quiet. Our hosts were generous and gracious with their time, and there was everything and more that we needed in the home to make our stay comfortable. After a busy day in the city, it was so nice to return to some quiet in the evening. We would definitely recommend this property.
This is now our second visit and we found it just as lovely and restful as when we first stayed.
The house is beautiful and light and offers a retreat from the busy city centre, with incredible views of the Ij, and cargo boats passing by.
We loved walking across the nearby Oranjesluizen with our children and watching the boats go through the locks.
There is an excellent team service to and from Central Station, and there is now a nearby ferry to cross to Sporenburg (one of the islands opposite). The island the house is on (Zeeburgereiland) is being built on now, but the house is well protected from this as it faces the opposite direction and is shielded by trees, so the building activity didn’t bother us at all.
Maria is a thoughtful host and there was fresh food in the kitchen to get us started.
Our children think we should give more than 5 stars but we can’t!
The rental is very clean, the beds were very comfortable and the bedding was very nice, especially considering our other experiences with European rentals. It has a nice view of the water & to watch the sun set. The tap water was amazing--tasted just like bottled spring water which we filled up every day before heading out. We were given some food and wine which was a very nice touch as well as a tram ticket to get into town--also greatly appreciated! We bought a 5 day pass for the tram in central station.
The shower was VERY slippery & it slopes, so be careful, but otherwise fine. Owner adding non-slip would be good.
We were given an incorrect address (according to Google) so our driver had a hard time finding it, but we were able to call the owner & figured it out. Also, there was construction in the area so it was about a mile walk to the tram which took about 22 minutes rather than 10 as stated. I would definitely get a private driver to pick you up at the airport & bring you to the rental-I can't imagine that walk with luggage and it wasn't that much more for 2 people than a train & tram ticket ($120 rt) not to mention the hassle! We did catch an Uber a couple of times after dark as it is more of a remote area and it cost about $15-worth it!
Be warned that the door locks behind you. We left a piece of luggage in the rental when we were leaving (left keys inside)--luckily the owner answered her phone & the husband was home (they live next door) to let us back in.
