Wow view

The house was delightfully furnished. The view absolutely amazing. The biggest issue was the one bathroom which must be accessed only through the walking all the way through the master bedroom. And even though the house was large enough and beautiful, I ended up making other arrangements for my adult children.

Excellent stay!

The cottage was a perfect home base for our trip. The cottage was even better than we had hoped. The view and location was perfect. Spotless clean and Angela was so easy to communicate with. Angela thought of everything and provided us with a well stocked home. We can’t wait to come back next year.

Second great stay at North End Cottage

We liked our first stay so much that we returned for another stay. Cottage has a great view of the sound, is cozy and warm and located close to groceries, restaurants and activities. Outdoor sitting areas overlooking the sound and in the garden are delightful. We hope to stay here again!

Great Stay at North End Cottage

My husband and I loved staying at this cottage overlooking Commencement Bay. The view is amazing and the gardens and decks are delightful. We felt warm and cozy, especially in the living room which has a woodburning fireplace. The house contains everything one needs for a relaxing vacation: kitchen supplies, books, including guidebooks, games, binoculars for viewing boats (and orcas?), comfortable beds and furniture. We had a great time and hope to return.

Peaceful retreat

My husband and I traveled to Tacoma and stayed at this home. The location is ideal. It's close to the water, shops and restaurants. The home has a deck which provides a stunning view of Puget Sound. There is also a whimsical garden in the front of the cottage. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone visiting the Tacoma area.

Perfect place to unwind

This was a terrific property for a relaxing low-key week long getaway. The super scenic back deck overlooking the bay so inspired us we ate at “home” 5 of our 7 nights. This was an ideal location very central to everything. We loved it and hope to visit again.

Beautiful view! Easy communication with property manager. There was a heatwave during our stay, and the property manager installed a window a/c unit in our bedroom before we arrived. She also had several fans available. Very thoughtful! Lots of dvd's, games, and books to choose from.

Had to go to Tacoma unexpectedly for a funeral and luckily Angela's cottage was available. I had stayed there last October myself, but this time brought along three family members. The unit comes with everything a family could need, plus a gorgeous view and outdoor deck options

Stay for the views, realize the house is old

Views from both the rear deck and front pergola are fantastic! The house is comfortable, though built in 1910, the bathroom is modern and the kitchen is complete Most of the windows have been replaced with efficient dual panes. The house abed are comfortable. The clutter of games, books, DVD and other items left out for guest use overwhelmed me, initially. Once I rearranged things to ensure my items were in places I could find them at departure, I settled in nicely. The gardens must be watered daily in the summer. Angela ask summer guests to water for 15 minutes and provides an easily accessible hose for this purpose. She gives the option of asking her to stop over and water if guests are not inclined to do so themselves. This turned into a relaxing past time for me. Be aware the party lights are on GFCI outlets and will trip if water hits things just right. I was halfway through my visit before realizing this. What I call clutter is Angela’s way of ensuring guests have anything and everything they might need. Although I was off put initially, I came to appreciate that this VRBO had everything I needed.

Host profile image
I am former outside sales representative by trade. My hobbies are fixing up old houses, gardening, sport fencing and of course vacation rentals. I have 3 short term rentals. I also run an optical shop on 6th Avenue.

Why they chose this property

When I saw this property I had to have it. The view is intoxicating and when you stay here you will see why. It needed extensive renovation on the decks and interior. It was renovated for use as a vacation rental. I love coming to visit and have tried to make it the best possible for travelers.

What makes this property unique

The house is from 1910 and was originally a mill workers house. The interior walls are tongue and groove cedar so it is super quiet. It is set far back from the road so it is very peaceful. The gardens are a blend of old and new and the house and gardens are functional and beautiful. I have all 5 stars on another vacation site and I have many return guests.
