THE GULF FRONT SUNSET
Important Information

September 26, 2024, Hurricane Helene tore through Dekle Beach and completely destroyed many homes. Winds over 140 MPH and 16 feet storm surge which acted like a tidal wave. This means everything under 16 feet tall was underwater. The Gulf Front Sunset miraculously survived. The swing on the mezzanine was left suspended in the air with nothing underneath it. The main house above and everything inside were somehow undamaged and in pristine condition.
The staircases and the mezzanine are reconstructed Also, much repair has been done to the downstairs electrical and plumbing . The AC unit was washed away and is replaced.
Unfortunately, the two kayaks were washed away and have not replaced them. I will not renew the Directv. The new wifi company has the internet up and running faster and better. Bring your own passwords and watch Netflix, etc. If you have a youtubetv.com subscription, that is good , too. Any subscription you have at your home will work at the house.

Our 2 bedroom 1 bath house sits on high stilts directly overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Located in undiscovered Dekle Beach, Florida. It is a retreat from everything. It's a scalloper, Fishermen, birder and stargazers' delight We are about three miles up the coast from Keaton Beach. The home overhangs the Gulf, with the high tides lapping against the sea wall. The porch/deck looking out on the Gulf. Sunbathing is great right on the 3rd story wrap around deck. There is an open mezzanine floor between the house and the ground level with a hanging twin bed swing! Covered parking at ground level with three open bays. Great for grilling in a rain, baby cribs and lots of people room. Relax and read on the swinging bed on the mezzanine. You will enjoy breathtaking gulf views and fabulous sunsets.
There are 3 full bays open for cars and boats. NO AIRBOATS AT THE GULF FRONT SUNSET, sorry. No street parking. Steps down into the Gulf of Mexico! PETS(no more than 50 pounds each and no more than 2 pets.) are allowed, but message Martie, the owner, about them). Guests pay $10 a night for one or two pets on the honor system to the housekeeper, Kerri. Please leave cash in the envelope provided or just. on the table with your name on it. Thank you, Martie.

Overall a pleasant stay. The perfect launching point for anglers of every type. The area always is great for fishing. Was unsure on the boatramp and channel depth but the taylor co. ramp was a short ride down the road.

Our favorite vacation place !

Dekle Beach is a great place for a family scalloping and fishing vacation . It is very, very peaceful . The Gulf Front Sunset House is clean , very comfortable, and has beautiful sunset views . Our family had stayed here several times and we look forward to coming back next year .

Gulf Coast getaway

We had an absolute blast, keeping our boat right at the house and using the private boat ramp was amazing. What a view for the sunset. It was an absolute spectacular trip. Can't wait to do it again.

Good times scallop 2024

Wonderful set up for scalloping. Boat ramp easy to get in and out of. Scallop cleaning area great. The mezzanine deck and swing was amazing. Beds were comfy. This is our second year at this house and we will be back next year.

Perfect location! Beautiful home!

One of our best family vacations, four children ages 9 to 12 loved kayaking, snorkeling and scalloping. Best sunsets and night sky we have ever seen. Wonderful gulf breeze for almost our entire stay! We will be back, hopefully sooner than later.

Great little place!

We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely book again. The house was quaint and had everything we needed. We enjoyed using the kayaks and the kids LOVED chasing and catching crabs. Neighbors are friendly and view was amazing! Martie was attentive to our needs and quick to answer any questions we had.

We love the Gulf Front Sunset house !! It is named that for a reason . The view of sunset there is incredible . The house is clean , comfortable , and has everything you need . The peacefulness of the Dekle community is wonderful .. We have rented this house several times and hope to stay there many more. It is a GREAT place !

Overall it was a nice place but there were no outside lights. Had to use the flashlight on our phones to go down the steps.

Nice quiet experience

Exactly what i was looking for. Secluded quiet and far away from your urban noise. The only downside is that you have to discard the garbage on a public dumpster about 15 min away. But I guess it's a small price to pay if you want to be away from the crowd.

I'm 75 years old and I live in Ocala, Florida. My husband and I purchased the house is 2001. I have rented the house for years and have had fantastic reviews through vacation websites. I also have two places on the Atlantic coast and are also available for rent through this website. I take great pride in my beautiful places and am very responsive to any of our guests' needs. I do not live locally but can be there in 2 1/2 hours. I have a team of folks that help me with any issues you may encounter. I am available by phone but especially by email.

Why they chose this property

It is so peaceful! The area is still pristine and undisturbed. I love to study the stars and at night, on a clear night, the Milky Way is breathtaking. The weather is always a pleasure (except when the hurricanes blow through) whether it is a sunbathing day, or a stormy night. I also love bird watching. I like to sit with binoculars and identify them. At night, we grill out on the nice double hibachi grills and enjoy talking and being with family. Scalloping is great at Dekle and the area. Sometimes they are right out in front of the house. Sunsets are always breathtaking.

What makes this property unique

Underdeveloped Florida is almost a thing of the past. Dekle is a nice small community . Scalloping season is the high season and often the scallops are right out in front of the house. Fishing is great as well. Pets are welcome but $10 a night for up to 2 pets on the honor system left at the house upon departure.
