About this property

The beauty of the Black Hills in a quiet and convenient setting

This unit has a master bedroom and second bedroom, one bathroom. It sleeps four comfortably. Sheets, towels, and laundry supplies are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped. It is located on 5 private acres, with a million trees and a million night-time stars. Easy access to Deadwood and the Northern Hills, and the Mt. Rushmore area, including Custer State Park, and the Crazy Horse monument. Hiking is right outside the door, and there is a creek at the end of the driveway. At the end of a long day of sight-seeing, go to the beach at Roubaix and swim, raft, fish, or just watch the fish jump and the hawks dive for the fish.
Unfortunately, due to landscaping issues, we are not able to accept ATVs. Motorcycles just fine.

My husband and I had the best experience here. The owners are very friendly and compassionate. They made our stay extremely comfortable and welcoming. The home was very clean and beautiful. I loved that it was out in the beautiful country. Carol & Linda are the best. They have lots of ideas if you have never been there. We were there 1 1/2 weeks after my 2 month old granddaughter passed. They were so generous. They picked me flowers and gave me a card. They are truly the best. I highly recommend renting from Carol & Lin. We will for be back again some day. Thank you for all that you did for us the week we were there!! Sending lots of xoxo to you both and Clancy!! 💜

Nice stay although more facts were needed
Overall the place was pleasant as well as the owners . Just did not understand the whole situation with the owners upon arrival . They actually live in the house they are leasing out and during the leasing times of the year, they live in the top of their garage in a loft . most of their belongings are in the house and they designate areas that you can use . The front road is a dirt road for about a mile also that we did not know and we were on motorcycles . Anyone leasing this home will need to understand that owners are there and you have the sense they observe your outside actions . Again, pleasant people and nice place , Just want to make sure people understand a little more when reserving .

I am a retired clinical Social Worker who practiced for many years with children and adults with disabilities. I grew up in the Black Hills, received my Masters Degree at the University of Iowa, and moved to Chicago for 38 years. I am now happy to return to the peace and beauty of the Hills. We built Shady Grove in 2006 and have been delighted to meet our marvelous guests--all with interesting stories to tell and unique life journies.

Why they chose this property

We love the fact that the house is located in a quiet space, but accessible to all the delights of the Black Hills.

What makes this property unique

Free dog care (let-outs, short walks), toy box for children, lawn games for adults and children, sing-a-longs by the fire pit, meals by the Shady Gourmet [with pro notice].
