About this property

Log Cabin by Nemo Near Sturgis Rally & Deadwood. Motorcycle ATV Hunting Fishing

Tucked away in the landscapes of the Black Hills of South Dakota, Big Elk Cabin is located just 4 miles from the quaint town of Nemo and less than 14 miles to Legendary Sturgis. Right in the middle of some of the best riding in the Black Hills with Nemo Road and Vanocker Canyon. The scenic commute to and from this cabin via Vanocker Canyon is absolutely breathtaking and requires less than 1/2 a mile of travel on a gravel road . Big Elk Cabin rests on 2.35 acres surrounded by native Black Hills trees and wildlife. This retreat is the perfect setting for a relaxing getaway with friends, family or a romantic couple.

We have the total guests at 6 people. That number includes kids. If you have a unique situation please contact me before booking.

We are dog friendly. Let us know if you have a service animal, emotional support animal, or a pet so we can prepare accordingly.

We have been sharing our cabin with guests for over a decade, and I've never seen the level of disrespect as I have in the last two years from pet owners. We didn't even have a written pet policy, it was just understood that you clean up after your pets. Then we decided we needed to give some instructions and that evolved in to our pet policy:

It will be the renters responsibility to vacuum / clean up animal hair or we will charge for the extra cleaning.

PETS/SERVICE ANIMALS/ EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS. ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE FURNITURE OR BEDS. CLEANING HAIR OFF THEM WILL RESULT IN EXTRA CLEANING FEES.

We don't have time to wash comforters multiple times between guests because the pet hair doesn't come off after one washing as a rule.

We also ask that all droppings are picked up from the front yard and all areas mowed on the sides and back.

We ask that when you leave the cabin is left no different than a guest who didn't have pet/service animal. If that sounds good to you, you can go ahead and send a booking request. If you have any other questions feel free to message us.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Gather used towels
Take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Reread your check in/check out message I sent with your door code. This area doesn't allow enough letters to really tell you all the details.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
No flushable wipes! You will be calling me with a backed up sewer very soon after use. You will be charged for the plumber's visit.
Cleaning fee is for basicly cleaning/laundry. Extra cleaning = extra charges. Bacon grease and pet hair for example have been issues in the past.
Cellular service is iffy inside the cabin. Outside you can get reception but it is very weak. Plan to use WIFI calling. NO LANDLINE PHONE.

Fantastic isolated cabin

Spent a few nights at Jeff's cabin with my wife and our two kids - we were all very happy during our stay. The kids got a huge kick out of the visiting deer and turkeys that showed up daily, and the hot tub was a big hit as well! Great place to feel secluded without being too far from the sites. Highly recommend.

Awesome place to stay in the Northern Hills

Big Elk Place Cabin is a great place to stay. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed, including a washer and dryer. We enjoyed the new hot tub while watching the deer and turkeys walk through the yard everyday. Jeff is a great host and I would recommend this cabin for any group looking for a place to stay near Nemo or Sturgis.

Mom & son getaway!

My 12 year old son and myself stayed for a 4 night getaway. The cabin was so peaceful and pleasant, especially early in the mornings or late evenings. I was lucky enough to have the main voyage in the brand new hot tub! It was perfect and the cabin owner was a true joy to work with. We will definitely be back!

Why they chose this property

We love the Black Hills of South Dakota and fell in love with the Nemo area. Owning both an on road motorcycle and an off road side by side we enjoy spending as much time in the area as we can and owning this cabin has made enjoying the area even better.

This area has some of the greatest riding in the nation. Its also close to Sturgis and a great place to stay during the Rally or to enjoy riding in the Black Hills in the spring, summer or fall. Its an ideal location for the off road enthusiast. Miles and miles of great trails that are marked and USFS has great trail maps to aid you in your journey.

Great location close to so much to do, but secluded enough that you can relax and unwind if you prefer. Its centrally located in the Northern Black Hills and has a:
