We had such a wonderful stay; this property truly offered all the comforts of home. From the moment we arrived, everything felt welcoming and thoughtfully prepared. The space was incredibly well stocked, with everything we needed (and then some) to settle in and enjoy our time. The beds were comfortable, making it easy to relax after long days of exploring.Communication with the owner was —responsive, kind, and helpful throughout. The location was ideal, with great proximity to local attractions, dining, and activities. Whether you're here for adventure or just some quiet downtime, this place hits the mark. Highly recommend!
We were able to park our trailers along the side of the house and parked our truck side-by-side in the driveway. Location is great getting around to sightsee and hit trails. The upstairs beds were good for small kids not recommend adults in the loft area. The other two bedrooms have plenty of room that are very comfortable. Outside deck was a nice bonus and having a full kitchen living room and TV was nice. It definitely worked what we needed and we were very satisfied.
This is a nice rustic cabin that has a big deck off of the back of the house. The cabin was easy to find and isclose to the area attractions. We enjoyed our stay and will recommend this cabin to our friends and family members.
Probably the most equipped place I’ve every stayed at thru VRBO, had everything could need or not know you needed!!!
Owners have gone far and above to make guests enjoy their stay.
I lost email about my check in process and called the owner and he responded back immediately and gave me all the information by phone. Very nice experience and loved our trip to South Dakota!!
My 3 kids and stayed here for 3 nights. This a great place to stay. Clean, comfortable and roomy. We really liked the rustic feel and my kids were thankful for the wi-if. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to the Black Hills.
We had a great time at this beautiful and comfortable home. Every room was beautiful and we especially enjoyed all the fire places. The home was very clean and well kept. It was the perfect home base for all of our off road Jeep adventures. Kevin was great to work with and very quick to respond. We will definitely stay here again!
This was our first experience at renting a house for our vacation and we are so glad we did. It was a wonderful experience. The cabin was so cute and welcoming. We would definitely do it again!

We had a wonderful time at the cabin during our girls trip! It was beautiful and a perfect set up for us. We are really grateful to have such a beautiful place to stay. Thank you so much!
This is the cutest little cabin in a great location from Deadwood!!
Easy to get to. The cabin is super cute & very clean! It snowed overnight and Kevin texted right away the next morning to see if we needed it to be shoveled out. We will be staying again!!

Why they chose this property
Our family enjoys spending time in the Black Hills of SD and 6 years ago we began the search for a vacation home/rental property. This property provides the privacy and coziness we were searching, and provides a convenient location to all the Black Hills activities and attractions. Rustic Retreat is our second vacation rental in the Black Hills, we enjoy sharing this properties with guests.
What makes this property unique
This property is a log cabin experience, with a large covered deck. Sitting out on the deck having coffee in the morning as the wind blows through the pines trees is one of the best parts of this property. Many mule deer visit the property as well as turkeys. There is a large green space for either parking or playing yard games. The city park is walking distance away, a feature for our younger visitors. Even though the property feels secluded we like that it is very close to Deadwood and other Black Hills attractions.
