The host is very quick to respond to any questions we have. The place is a nice fit for our family ladies deer hunting widows weekend. This was our 4th year here.

Excellent location! Beautiful house, but dated and in need of a deep clean.

It’s been a very busy summer. We’ll be doing our fall deep cleaning very soon. Thanks for staying with us. We hope you’ll come again!
This house is absolutely beautiful! There was plenty of room for all of us, and we really enjoyed our time there. It was also an excellent location, because we could use the lake, and there was also a playground kitty corner from the house for our grandchildren.

We loved the house, the lake views, and the town of Lindstrom. The fresh flowers in the kitchen were a delightful touch.

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay! To be honest, the flowers were a gift from our next door neighbors and they were still blooming when we left after our summer vacation. I don't want everyone to expect them in the future! LOL. Please come again!

Jim’s house worked great for a few of us to stay on a family wedding weekend. Jim was very responsive before and during our stay. The home itself has plenty of room to spread out (there were 8 of us one night and 10 of us the second night). The exterior of the home needs attention and yard maintenance and upkeep. Kitchen is very well stocked.

We’re glad you enjoyed your stay. Restoring and maintaining Fridhem has been a labor of love. We’ve been addressing issues as they arise with the interior as the first priority. There is still much to do, but thanks to guests like you we can afford to continue our efforts. I hope you will stay with us again!
House was welcoming, comfortable, and well stocked. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. The layout fitted or our multi-family weekend get-a-away perfectly. The owner was available and responsive. It was a really nice and relaxing stay.

Liked the fence yard but it was all dirt and no grass. But it worked fine for our dogs. Nice TV area, good kitchen and beds were comfortable. Plenty of room.

We’re glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes, the backyard is a work in progress. In order to return the house exterior to its original, gutterless facade, we’ve been redirecting water which washed out the backyard grass. We’re almost finished with the trenches and drainage pipe, and plan to re-seed in the Spring.
Beautiful property; perfect for a group get together. Only hiccup was I was never sent the code to get in the door but thankfully they have a ring doorbell and were able to let us in. Would definitely stay again.
Plenty of room for 10 adults to spread out! Good location. The property is a little tired and in need of some TLC but had a well appointed kitchen

We appreciate the feedback. We spend July at the house with our family and there's always a lot to do to keep up this 125 year old home. We are always making improvements and hope you will stay with us again to see them!
Jim
The house was clean spacious and well stocked. The only reason I didn't give a five was because the landscaping and outside of house needed some upkeep and repairs.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. We are doing our best to keep up the house inside and out. We have plans to move the garage so we haven't given it some much needed TLC.
About the host
Hosted by Jim Casey
Caryn and Jim Casey have been married for 40 years (as of 2022). We have two grown daughters, three rescue dogs and two grand-dogs. We love Lindstrom and being at the lake as a contrast to our busy lives in Burbank, CA. Jim has a background in architecture and sells real estate in California.
Why they chose this property
It was love at first sight. We found the house quite by accident. Jim was doing research comparing different real estate websites back in 1999 for a seminar he was giving to a real estate board in Florida. Jim was an internationally recognized technology speaker and trainer in the real estate industry just as the internet and digital technology was changing the real estate business. Our dream house scenario was an older home with wrap around porches on a lake and within 45 minutes of the Twin Cities. Fridhem popped up on his computer screen and the family jumped in the car and drove to the property more out of curiosity than anything else. When we walked up the front sidewalk we were captivated. Because of the original condition of the home and the unfinished attic we knew we could make this a special home for our family and for our retirement (you can live entirely on the first floor if necessary). That same year our two daughters announced their dreams of acting so we packed them up and took them to Burbank to attend school and audition for television and film. Jim spent over a year remodeling the home and commuting back and forth to California until the whole family returned for summer vacation. We never imagined we'd be turning the house into a vacation rental, but it has been a wonderful experience for us sharing the house and still getting to enjoy it throughout the year.
What makes this property unique
Walk to downtown on our tree lined street and enjoy privacy and incredible views of the lake from our large deck. The house is large and yet features lots of little, intimate spaces to congregate or enjoy some alone time. Live in an historic home with all the amenities you'd expect from a 5 star hotel including an exercise room, free WIFI and a smart TV for your Netflix and Amazon Prime viewing pleasure. With a local winery, many restaurants, antique shopping, nearby trails, tennis courts and golf, not to mention the wonderful lake and trophy fishing, everyone can find something to pass the time. Fridhem is a local treasure which everyone in the community has heard stories about in its over 120+ year history. We purposely do NOT rent the house for large events like weddings because we feel it is best for family get togethers and quiet vacations. Our friendly neighbors are there when you need them, but will give you your privacy. We hope you will treat them with the same friendly respect!
