Alluvial Santorini Suites

Alluvial Santorini Suites is a wonderful early 20th century vinery, recently transformed into a set of unique contemporary accommodations to relax and enjoy your stay in Santorini! The accommodation is situated only a mile away from the unique caldera view, in Messaria, a traditional and very quiet village with easy access to the airport and Athinios port. Alluvial Santorini Suites consists of three separate apartments, ideal for couples or even a whole group (up to 9 persons). It has a beautifully decorated shared patio with a plunge pool where you can enjoy your breakfast, or rest after a long day at the beach and drink a glass of wine.
The House
This is where the family running this local winery used to live. You can meet some of the descendants of the same family around the neighbouring houses. They all have great memories of the place!
The House covers an area of 50sqm, and consists of
- the living room, equipped with a sofa-bed, a large 43”TV, a kitchen and a dining table with 2 benches,
- a bedroom with an extra-large bed and an ensuite bathroom with a hot tub and a shower.

The Canava
This large underground space was the heart of the complex. Its constant temperature all year round was ideal for the production of wine. Let’s travel back in time. We are in late August, at the “vedema” season. It’s late in the afternoon, after a long day picking grapes on the fields and donkeys carrying baskets with the precious load have arrived. The baskets are unloaded and a cheerful evening starts with the pressing of the grapes. The must is flowing, filling slowly the large underground tanks that you can see scattered around the main area. Then some large oak barrels (not present any more) are filled with the must that will turn in the months to come to the famous Santorini wine.
The Canava covers an area of 120sqm, and consists of
- the living room, equipped with a large sofa, a kitchen and a dining table with 2 benches,
- a bedroom with an extra-large bed and an ensuite bathroom with a shower
- an exclusive jacuzzi where two of the wine tanks use to sit
- the master bedroom with an extra-large bed and an ensuite bathroom with a shower and a bathtub.

The Rakidio
The by-product of the pressing of the grapes (seeds and branches) where put here in a distiller to produce “raki”, a pomace brandy of Cretan origin, similar to grappa. The people of Santorini never drank it, though. It was only used for medicinal purposes. Unfortunately the copper distiller has long been lost…
The Rakidio covers an area of 25sqm, and consists of

- a bathroom with shower.
