This is the first rental I have ever stayed in that is EXACTLY as advertised! The view was the winning feature for us. We were looking for a few days of rest and relaxation- and that's what we got! The beds were so comfy and every amenity was provided. The hosts went above and beyond in answering all of our questions. My husband, who has traveled all over the world, puts this in his top 5 spots! We will be back peefect, amenties were plenti
Calm location, beautiful home, very roomy and updated. River is right there. Relaxing. Hosts helped us arrive! Parking very convenient. Right up to door! Close to a nice town. We will be back!
Very clean, private house. Loved the river, firepit, flying geese and easy in-and-out. Everything you could need. I liked having separate bedrooms and bathrooms for my girlfriend and me. Host is delightful and gracious (I broke a wine glass ).Thank you for sharing your wonderful getaway with us.
The house felt like home upon arrival. We weren’t too far from town but away from traffic! The sight and sound of the river running through the backyard was relaxing. Homeowner left detailed instructions and information. We will be renting again next time we are in the area.
We stayed here sonce our daughter is thinking about attending ETSU this fall. It is a relatively short drive to the campus. Everything was great! The river's sound was relaxing and contant. The host was very accommodating and friendly. We will visit again!
We are repeat offenders and plan on keeping that status. Never disappoints, in fact it just gets better with every visit. This sweet home sits right on the Doe River. Very convenient to restaurants, grocery stores, etc. but feels a world away. First steps in the door and you’ll feel you are right at home in this cozy, clean home. Well appointed kitchen. Clean bathrooms with lots of hot water and great water pressure. Super comfy beds and linens Wonderful cowboy grill right beside the waters edge. Very clean gas grill.Comfortable deck furniture overlooking the river. Richard and Diane are the best host. They go above and beyond to assure you have a wonderful visit. Needless to say, we highly recommend Journeys End!!
While working on a new TV show I needed a setting on the doe river. Figured I'd spend the night by myself since we had the house anyway. We did some video during the day on the riverbank and it was nothing short of a dream like setting. It was easy and the neighbors were polite and can't wait to go back. Thanks
My husband and i went back to Journeys End for the second time. Hope to be going in the summer or fsll and sit on the deck and listen to the relaxing water. Place was everything we needed.
The owners put so much Love into making this vacation rental feel like Home Away from Home. The inside was as beautiful and Cozy as the outside! Stunning views of the Mountains and the sound of the River was so peaceful and relaxing. Fishing was fun and watching the Birds were an extra treat! Located near Great Restaurants and Shopping. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to relax and stay warm during a weekend getaway with a beautiful Snow fall. Can’t wait to visit in the summer to do some tubing and kayaking right off the back porch!! Thanks so much!! The locals were as friendly as they come!!
This place is magical and so so relaxing we never wanted to leave. Each night I was so relaxed listening to the river and hiking through the day that I slept a solid 9 hours each night. Something my mind and body desperately needed. The house is so clean and stocked with everything you need. The outside is everything here. A beautiful river overlooking a mountain. A fire pit and deck with covered awning to wake up and sip coffee. If you're looking for peace, tranquility and a place to gather your thoughts this is the place for you!
Amazing that this property was spared from the flooding from hurricane, house was perfect, very clean, very well stocked, owners very nice and informative when spoke to them.would definitely like to come back when the wet is a little nicer and do some fishing. Thank you to the Forsythes for a beautiful place to stay.
A great place to return to after a busy day out. I was looking for a place to relax and this home was PERFECT! Listening to the water out the back was a wonderful addition to my morning coffee on the deck.
Richard and Diane are wonderful hosts and were available my entire time for anything I needed and were more than helpful with my needs. A wonderful stay and highly recommend!
This house is so nice! We loved sitting on the deck and listening to the river flow by. It was so peaceful and just what we needed. The house was very clean and well maintained. It was well stocked with everything we needed for the weekend. We did lots of fishing and town is minutes away with lots of great food to try.We will definitely be staying again. Thanks Diane and Richard for
sharing your beautiful home.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Tennessee. The property was exactly as it was described in the listing. The hosts were wonderful. We will definitely return.
Great communication on check in information so well I did not even have to contact the owner for anything. This cute house has everything you need and more. Love the decorations and cleanliness. If you want to fish in the backyard there are trout back there. Bring some waders or water boots and there are holes that fish are in. Read a book sit by the fire in peace this is for you. There are many places not to far from the house to trout fish. Roan mountain state park, Watauga River and many little spots on the Doe River Fishing trail. Elizabethton and Hampton are cute little towns and have pretty much anything you need. Thanks for having us in your home and sharing this beautiful place with others.
Such a blessing to stay at Journeys End. This is by far the number 1 home I have ever rented in all of my travels.
The property is absolutely beautiful. Sitting on the deck by the river was so peaceful, especially in the evenings when the automatically came on. We made great use if the BBQ and firepit. Great location - about 10 minutes to Elizabethton.
Walking through the door at Journeys End was the beginning of a great vacation!!!
Thank you, Diane and Richard!!! My God richly bless you!
This is a beautiful well maintained property. You will not need anything when you arrive the owners have thought of everything. I was looking for a place to just relax and this is exactly what we got. Still close enough to restaurants but the feeling is so far away from everything.
The house has been totally renovated. If you like to fish, it is the perfect location! Of course, we tied some intertubes together and enjoyed getting in the water! It felt great. I went with some girlfriends from high school and we sat on the back porch, enjoyed the beautiful view, shared memories from years ago, and just enjoyed being together!
This was my 6th year renting Journey's End. Would love to buy it and move there. Absolutely perfect, clean, location, and awesome river view. Diane & Rick are very easy to get along with and always a phone call/text away
We wanted to relax and get away from ministry for a few days. This was perfect. As described and had everything we needed to accomplish our goals. We will book again… our new getaway spot!
We found this wonderful property in 2017 and. spent 6 months renovating it for this opportunity to share its beauty. Come sit by the river and relax. Bring your fly rod !

The Doe River in Tennessee is one of the cleanest rivers in the United States. Trout is stocked regularly, both rainbow and brown trout. Doe River is also great bass fishing. The property is close to Watagua Lake, Laurel Falls and numerous other hiking destinations. Antique shopping close by as well as Bristol Speedway
