Beautiful home right on a picturesque working harbor. Bob and Rachel are fantastic hosts who make every stay perfect. We’ve been renting from them for years now and absolutely love it!
This was our second time staying at this property and we love it. Rachel & Bob are super thoughtful and responsive. They’ve thought of everything to make the stay comfortable and fun.
The house was beautifully appointed with an amazing view of the harbor. Rachel and Bob were incredibly helpful and responsive hosts. Highly recommended!
We spent a week of relaxation and connection at this rental. It was a perfect place for us to explore the area but also just relax together. We enjoyed watching the lobster boats come and go and walking to the ice cream shop down the street. It is a quiet area but not too far from being able to sightsee different sights around the area. We took spent a couple of days just hanging out at the rental but also took day trips to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Maine Maritime Museum in Bath and Pemaquid Lighthouse. We would stay here again if we came to this area.
The south Bristol community is exceptional, the locals, the lobster Co op next door and the great eateries in town .
We enjoyed our two week stay; lovely hosts and close to Portland, Bar Harbor, Booth Bay and Wiscasset .
There are no shortage of activities, even if it rains the whole time.
We did not have children however; if you are traveling with children bring back up entertainment for rainy days .
Rachel and Bob have designed this home with the perfect mix of vintage antiques and clean, modern coastal fabrics and furnishings. It’s charming, and beautiful and clean. Nothing is worn out. The private dock is amazing and we spent every morning and evening watching the boats and various birds come and go.
The area is perfect for exploring mid-coast Maine. Plenty of less touristy spots that allow you to feel like a local. There’s a great co-op for groceries and nearby towns offer well curated home goods, books and dining options.
We can’t wait to come back neshow a lot of care for their property and it shows.

Loved South Bristol!
Charming small fishing town and the cottage was awesome! Directly next door to the lobster coop so lobster dinners were a must. Home was lovely - enjoyed our evenings on the dock watching the boats go by. It had everything we needed and was a great place to decompress after lots of day trips! Osiers in S Bristol was great for breakfast and their lobster roll was great. Pemaquid Lighthouse and beach were awesome! Laverna Preserve was a great local hiking trail with great views. Thank you for sharing your lovely home. If we can get to Maine again this is our first choice. We had a great time
From the moment you connect with the Rachel and Bob, it is clear their goal is to create a wonderful experience for their guests. The location of this home is perfect for anyone seeking a quiet ocean front escape, yet a short drive provides access to shops, restaurants, hiking trails, and the beach. The home itself is impeccably kept. This is not your "typical" vacation rental, as we felt as though we were staying in the warm, welcoming, and well cared for home of a friend or loved one. From the cozy couch and reading chairs to the soft and supple linens, every detail has been considered. When we entered the home, we were struck by how clean it was. Not a single piece of dust or dirt could be found. This level of cleanliness is such a rare find in the busyness of summer rentals by the shore, and the attention to this detail was so very much appreciated.
Rachel and Bob are superb communicators and we felt confident that if we needed anything during our stay, they would not have hesitated to help.
We look forward to many future stays at the Manning's home!
Well-appointed property with conscientious hosts and excellent views. Easy water access and a great location for kayak trips to Witch Island, Christmas Cove and other nearby spots. Our group ranged in age from 5-75 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We had a great time at Rachel & Bob’s cottage. The property was beautifully renovated and is nicely decorated with a mix of antiques and comfy modern pieces. The kitchen is stocked with high quality items - good pans, sharp chef knives, all the items you need (and plenty of them)! They thought of all the details that make a rental feel like a home (nice linens, extra throw pillows and blankets, good blinds, comfy beds). The location is fantastic as well! There’s a great yard with a view and lovely dock. It’s next door to the public landing, but noise was not an issue at all even with the windows open & it’s an easy walk to the coop, osiers, etc. Great property in a great place!
Staying at this fabulous waterfront cottage in South Bristol was perfect. The home was so lovely and stocked with high quality items- even the knives were sharp! Bob and Rachel were wonderful hosts- they met us at the door and answered every question we had. They even discarded the lobster shells for us! The location was perfect- between Freeport (and shopping) and Acadia National Park (for sightseeing). Being on the cove was perfect for relaxing. It was the best vacation ever! Thank you, Bob and Rachel for sharing your wonderful home with us. We will be back!
Stylish and comfortable home overlooking a picturesque working harbor. Rachel and Bob are very attentive and responsive hosts. This is our second year there and we just love it!
We enjoyed the opportunity to get away to a remote area surrounded by nature and all its beauty. Lovely weather, great kayaking and never ending opportunities to explore surrounding communities. The house was comfortable and well equipped. Love Maine!
Owners were lovely to work with! We stayed on the heels of a power outage. They set up and monitored a generator to keep us powered and comfy. We would definitely recommend and plan to rebook.
We had the pleasure of staying at the Manning’s lovely home in South Bristol Harbor for almost a week in early October. They met us with the key and gave us many tips that we took advantage of as to neighboring towns, restaurants, things to go see, etc. (We Loved the Little Village Bistro, Bob.) It was the perfect home base to visit many spots along the Maine Coast. We went to Wiscasset, Damariscotta, Kennebunkport, Boothbay, Bath, Rockland, Camden, Ogunquit and Portland and they were all enchanting. It was wonderful to come back to one place each night and relax and plan the next day’s events. The house was so comfortable and we loved the decor. The rooms were spacious and perfect for us. We would love to use their lovely home again if we come back to Maine. If you are in the area, don’t miss going to Jan Kilburn’s art studio. Her watercolors are absolutely beautiful and we had a wonderful visit with her and her husband. We all bought a lovely piece that she is shipping to us. Maine is such a beautiful state, and we could not have had a better experience. We highly recommend the Manning’s VRBO to anyone visiting the area. They were so easy to work with and were wonderful with communication. You won’t be disappointed!

Property was wonderful as was the property owners who went out of their way to help us with the area. Only one thing could they could improve on is there was not a garage door opener to use when leaving each day.
