Not your typical rental—this is a family-owned cottage that I love sharing when I can’t be there myself.
Located on the east side of Lake Wawasee on Morrison Island, this charming, fully updated cottage sits on a large deck overlooking a wide, peaceful bay with two uninhabited islands full of wildlife. It’s the perfect spot to park your boat for your entire stay, and the public access ramp is only a couple minutes away. No boat? Griffith’s Wawasee Marina is just a short walk and can handle all your rental needs. You’re also welcome to use my 14 ft Old Town kayak and 12 ft Perception kayak to explore the water.
When you’re not out on the lake, the island’s green space is ideal for family games or a picnic. With minimal traffic, it’s also great for biking, walking, or running.
Nearby towns—Syracuse and North Webster—offer great places to eat, drink, and shop, including some fantastic boutiques and antique stores. If you want to dine on the water, The Oakwood, The Channel Marker, and The Frog are all excellent choices after a day at Wawasee’s sandbar.
Now, about the house: it’s 1,000 square feet of smart, comfortable living. I’ve owned it for years and have updated it from top to bottom—new carpet, fresh paint, new beds, new appliances, a new deck, and more. Yes, there’s WiFi, and a 55-inch Samsung Smart TV with apps like Vudu, Hulu, and Disney (no cable).
The living room has plenty of space to relax or play games, plus a single fold-out bed and room for an air mattress if needed. The bedrooms are cozy and comfortable—one with a brand-new queen bed, the other with a brand-new full.
The kitchen features new stainless appliances and a dining area, but the best place to eat is outside on the newly built deck over the water. Burgers and chicken taste even better fresh off the new grill with that lake view. And nothing beats a cup of coffee at sunrise—have your camera ready.
Come spend a weekend (or longer) and make memories that will last a lifetime.
**A quick note about pets:** I do have a small dog and am open to allowing dogs as long as they’re well-behaved—meaning fully housebroken, non-chewers, and friendly with other dogs, as many Morrison Island residents have pups of their own.
