Sandy Shoes is beautifully constructed waterfront home located on the north side of Russell’s Island. Situated off of the main road and right on the water, it’s vibrant colors will surely catch your eye. Sandy Shoes is equipped with everything you will need in your vacation rental, but questions are always acceptable. The Sand Bar is one of the locals favorite restaurants and is only half a mile from Sandy Shoes. The house comes with kayaks and paddle boards so you can Kayak to nearby beaches or sit out on the deck, while having a cocktail, or sitting on the lounges by the water reading a great book. So if it’s relaxing at the beach or going on one of the best boat charters, TyMan Charters, then Sandy Shoes is the perfect place for you. Absolutely Wonderful!

This was our first time to Spanish Wells/Russell, and it will not be our last! The Sweetings were attentive, helpful, and considerate. Our house was beautiful and spotless. We loved the private beach area and all the amenities that came with the house. We couldn't be happier!

Paradise under the stars

We stayed here over Christmas with 2 teenage daughters and had a great and relaxing 6 day stay. I have never had a host as attentive and helpful as Christy. They made sure that we were met at the airport and shuttled all the way to the island, and gave us a quick tour of the island. The cottage was perfect and so relaxing. I have never seen so many stars at night as we did on this island. We even slept out under the stars on Christmas night. It was surreal. I have stayed at many rentals, but Sandy Shoes stands out and I would recommend it to anyone. (Also the starfish and snorkeling right off the shore was great..just wear water shoes).

A Piece of Paradise

Everything about our trip was amazing! Christy and Shane were so helpful and always responded within minutes to any questions we had. The property was perfect, and very well appointed. The beach and access to the water was even better than advertised. The location of the property felt so private but was also just a quick golf cart ride away from the restaurants and stores. We will absolutely be coming back to the island again and would love to stay at one of Christy and Shane's amazing properties!

Amazing stay on an amazing island!

I wish I could give our host 6 stars. Lovely people and a gorgeous property on an amazing island... Find your way there, and then allow yourself to get lost.

Loved everything about it!

We enjoyed this house so much! The location was perfect for us and I loved having both the sand and rocky shore. The house was beautiful and suited us perfectly! Christy and Shane were absolutely great also! We definitely recommend using them for a boating excursion! We can’t wait to come back!!

Incredible views from and beautifully appointed home!

We had the chance to spend a long weekend with our teenage daughters, and this home was perfect! The host is magnificent and super accommodating. The house itself was in immaculate condition, had all the things we could’ve needed, and was located in a beautiful area. We would love to come back as soon as possible. We cannot recommend this property highly enough.

The house was very clean and cute, and the property is located in a very quiet area along with an amazing view. The owners were very nice and helpful with everything. We had no problems with communication or with the house at all. This is the perfect house for a relaxing stay in spanish wells.

Wow! Such a pleasant fun place to stay! Property was amazing and just as advertised. Christy was fantastic to work with and took great care of us. We went on three excursions with Shane, Shannon, and Eli and they were a wealth of knowledge of the area. The adventure was amazing. Best Vacation Ever! We will be back. Thank you Christy and Shane!

Great way to get away!

This is a great new property! I can't say much more than the other reviews that you will read here. We loved the location, easy access to the beach, the privacy and the golf cart! Such a great add on to the rental. Christy is a great hostess and made sure our stay was a pleasant one. Biggest problem is going to be keeping this a secret!

The best vacation home and hosts you could ask for!

Christy and Shane were so great, anything we asked for if they couldn’t provide it, they found someone who could. They wene far and away the best hosts we have encountered, I cannot day enough great things about them. Beautiful island with the friendliest people! The house is just as advertised, so charming, clean and modern! We could not have found a more perfect location for us. There are steps leading right into the ocean from your own private beach. We cannot wait to visit again.

Christy , Was the perfect host!. From arranging our cab and meeting us at the docks. She also showed us around the island which is beautiful. The only thing we thought there was a beach that you could walk on from the house. But with the golf cart you could be at a beach in 5min or less.

Sandy Shoes is Shangri La!

Sandy Shoes wraps you in it’s charm the minute you walk inside. The view is spectacular, and everything you need is at your fingertips. If not, Christy, like a “Genie”, will have it on your doorstep. Shane and his brother , Shannon make a boat excursion on Seagillian interesting and fun, and wizzing around on your own golf cart is awesome. Don’t hesitate Go!

Spanish Wells Heaven

The rental property was wonderful. The water was beautiful. We rented from Christy a d Shane and also did an excursion thru them which was the highlight of the trip. Loved they had transportation for us already. And they made travel arrangements to get to the island. The house had everything we needed and even had kayaks and paddleboards which were fun as well. Couldn't have asked for a better trip. We got fresh fish and cooked ourselves one night but also ate at many of the restaurants. Definately would recommend anyone to book this stay. 5+ stars for sure!

Beautiful home!!

This is a beautiful home with wonderful view of the water. We new the minute we arrived that we were going to love this home. Shane and Christy are such lovely people and really have made a spectacular home. From the inside to the outside it has everything you need. They have put a lot of care into the structure as well as the decorating and outside beach they made. Saw string rays and turtles from the steps. They are wonderful hosts and even brought us a delicious pie that Christy made. Spanish Wells never disappoints this is our 6th visit. Thank you to Shane and Christy for letting us be their guest!

Incredible!

We can’t say enough amazing things about this place or Christie and Shane! The house is the most adorable thing ever and I wanted to take it home with me! The location is great with the little beach! Nothing is longer than a 10 minute buggy ride away. They were beyond helpful every step of the way even after our arrival! We had a buggy that didn’t want to start and they met us at a restaurant within minutes to switch it out. Our weather wasn’t the greatest, but Shane knew exactly when we would have the best chance at enjoying our excursion and it did not disappoint! Make sure to book something with him!! Overall, we would recommend this property and anything else Christie and Shane are a part of! Such a lovely couple and their passion for Spanish Wells shows!

Great hosts but the house isn't that private unfortunately :(

We really wanted to love this place and give 5 stars but three things we wish we knew before we booked: 1) you are oceanfront, but there's no sand so be prepared to have water shoes 2) the water sports equipment and "beach" area is shared with other houses on the property, it's not yours 3) there are other houses being built on the property and it's effectively an active construction site...which means workers were milling around outside our house so there was 0 privacy for a few hours which was especially disappointing because my wife came out of the shower and saw someone through the window thinking this place was private. Other than that, the house is lovely, the hosts were very communicative (and apologetic about the construction work), but the three things above would make me book a different place had I known :(

Beyond expectations!

There are no words to describe this place, but I’ll try! Heaven on earth and paradise just aren’t descriptive enough. The super sweet hospitable owners went over and beyond to help coordinate arrival and departure for us and make it smooth. The place was very clean and I’m usually picky about cleanliness- we had 0 complaints. Love having a golf cart to ride. We didn’t get to use kayaks cause it was pretty windy and we were busy exploring on golf cart most time, but was nice to have anyway. Loved the outdoor bed on the beach, we watched the meteor shower and nice breeze kept bugs away. Close to main town on SW and far enough for privacy! Just a Fun “hop skip and jump” over the bridge on golf cart to SW island. Next time we are booking with Seagillian to enjoy some inshore and hopefully do more snorkeling behind house. If you’re hesitant to book on Russell island or here, don’t be! It’s completely safe(& I’m usually fearful of new places, but wasn’t there) and it was perfect location. Can’t wait to come back! Hopefully sooner than later and much longer stay. The layout was awesome. Porch was awesome. Beach behind house was awesome. Only thing I would do different is bring a lot less clothes, a wide brim sun hat, a good pair of water shoes, a good fitting snorkel, and good camera or drone. Cell phone pics just don’t do it justice. Book it, you will not regret it!

6 STARS!!

When my husband and I were trying to decide which island in the Bahamas to visit for our vacation this year, we decided that we wanted to rent a home. We had excellent experiences with Home Away in the past, so that is where we began looking. The moment we saw this property listing, we both fell in love! We decided Spanish Wells is where we would be going, because this property is where we wanted to stay. We were also looking for more of a remote island, opposed to the busy, crowded, tourist attractions and Spanish Wells definitely fit the bill. From very first contact with Christy & Shane, they answered every question that I had, and I had many! Christy responded very promptly via emails. As mentioned in other reviews, Christy & Shane were beyond accommodating. They arranged for our transportation from the airport to the ferry, where they were waiting on the other side with a golf cart. They even took us to the grocery store on the way to the house because it was closing soon and wouldn't be open the next day. The house was simply amazing and impeccably clean. All the basic necessities are included, along with lots of extras. They include lots of beach extras like snorkel gear, kayaks, paddle boards, beach inflatables, etc. The porch overlooking the ocean was where we spent most of our time and thank goodness for the WiFi connection! We were able to keep in contact with our family and share our daily experiences with them. I must add that the golf cart is such a huge bonus with this house!! You will save several hundred dollars, not having to rent one and it is an absolute necessity for transportation. I have stayed in houses in the U.S. that were priced much higher/night and didn't include anywhere near the amount of extras as this house and they weren't nearly as nice. Christy & Shane both grew up in Spanish Wells. They know pretty much everything there is to know about the island, its history and Eleuthera as well. They know all the cool places to visit and the best places to eat. They are available 24/7, if you need them to be, but are certainly not a bother in any way. In fact, we ended up spending quite a bit of time with them and now we have lifelong friends. We remain in contact and plan on doing so in the future. Believe me when I say, if you chose to stay here, there will not be any disappointments!!! Thank you Christ & Shane for making our stay incredibly amazing!! We hope to see you guys again, sooner the better!
