About this property
Villa Island Getaway - BEACHFRONT with BOAT INCLUDED on North Captiva!
Villa Island Getaway is an ultra-luxurious and exclusive private island beach house. The villa is located on North Captiva and is only accessible by boat. You'll get all the privacy you want and at the same time, you're only a 15-minute boat ride away from some of Florida's most famous restaurants on Captiva Island. Relax on the beach with luxurious accommodations; enjoy the amazing never-ending views of the Gulf and the exclusivity of a private island. Perfect for family vacations – you and your friends can stay together. Or a romantic getaway for two… Forget The Keys or The Bahamas, it really doesn't get any better than this. This is truly a unique vacation spot where you can enjoy beach walks, shelling, kayaks, beach toys, and some of the best fishing in the world right off your dock. You will see dolphins every day. We have had so many guests even getting the opportunity to pet the dolphins from the boat. No rushing to beat the masses and reserve a spot on the beach here. We have beach chairs, umbrellas, lounges and everything you could want for a relaxing and private day on the beach.
If you want some action, the island is located in the middle of the world's most famous fishing, the Boca Grande Pass. The rental includes the use of a 24-ft. boat. The dock is on the island's bayside, the beach, and the Gulf on the other side.
We have installed high-speed internet from Starlink so that everyone can enjoy their favorite streaming services without interruptions as well as work from "home". There's a kayak and fishing gear. And we just added an arcade machine with over 5000 different games on it. There's something for everyone with this AMAZING vacation spot.
This two story villa has a total of five bedrooms (equipped with 3 king beds and 2 queen beds), three full bathrooms, spacious social and dining areas together with a fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, ice-maker, etc. everything you need for a perfect vacation. The kitchen has a regular coffee pot and a Keurig, a toaster, a toaster oven, and a gas stove top. Outside there is a gas/electric BBQ grill, a spacious dining area, and two lounge areas. You can enjoy the ocean view from every part of the villa.
Come and enjoy this beautiful Vacation Home. It is truly an amazing experience.
NOTE: This home is boat access only. Arrival needs to be done during the afternoon and while the sun is still up. Transportation to and from the island will be provided by the property manager. BUT you will be able to use a boat during your stay. We find the boat truly enhances the experience. With the boat, you will be able to visit one of the small shops nearby for the forgotten items off of your list. A short boat ride away is the famous Cabbage Key, home to the most amazing cheeseburger and a ton of amazing Florida wildlife. Also, the restaurants on Captiva and Sanibel are reopening and are better than ever. Some of our favorites are The Mucky Duck and the Green Flash, just to name a few. There's a booklet in the house with more suggestions.
If for some crazy reason the kids get tired of the beach, we can truly recommend a day pass at Tween Waters on mainland Captiva. It is a traditional beach resort with pools and restaurants.
If you have never visited North Captiva before, it is truly a unique experience. There are no cars and no roads and no crowds. Provisioning requires a little planning as you will not be able to hop in the car to get that forgotten grocery item. Services are available through Publix, Instacart and private shoppers to take care of everything you will need. Order groceries ahead by going to the Publix grocery store website and clicking shop. Next it should ask you to select a location, select, 5068 Sandpiper Drive, St.James City. Then you order through Instacart. Under one of the items, you select write: Order for North Captiva. Please prepare all items to be BOAT READY. They will put meat and other items in coolers for you. When you arrive at the supermarket, pull into a parking space marked, PICK UP. Go inside and tell them you are there for your PICKUP order. Then continue to Pine Island Marina to be whisked away to your private paradise.

Paradise! Direct access to both the ocean and the bay offers endless opportunities for fishing and wildlife encounters. We saw manatees, dolphins, iguanas, and countless other tropical species we had never experienced before. Lars is fantastic to work with and makes getting you—and all your supplies—to the island completely effortless.
We had such a terrific stay at this house on North Captiva. Two families with four kids ages 4-6 (5 adults, 4 kids total). Couldn't be happier with the house and the location. Owner was helpful and communicative and provided us with a truly memorable experience. Would return in a heartbeat.

Our family very much enjoyed vacationing at this private paradise! We loved seeing the sunrise and the bay and sunset at the ocean. The house comes with many amenities, including the boat, kayak, paddleboard, plenty of seating for the beach, sun umbrella/tent, and a new beach volleyball set – which our family especially liked. There were no fishing rods and little gear at the house; fortunately we packed telescopic rods and some gear with our luggage for amateur fishing. We did see a couple dolphins come to surface every day, and saw manatees at Cabbage Key. It was very windy for a couple days with a small watercraft advisory, so plan provisions to accommodate staying at the house in case of bad weather. There is a Culligan water filter that is suitable for drinking. The regular house water had a somewhat offensive odor. When mentioning it to Lars (the owner), he was responsive and spent hours working on it. Overall, we found Lars trying to please us and wanting us to enjoy our trip. We liked boating to Cabbage Key for lunch; the setting is beautiful and the food is delicious. We also went to Mainstay Restaurant/Barnacles Bar on North Captiva and Green Flash on Captiva – both were good with beautiful water views. They all have limited boat dock access-we generally went out for an early lunch. Jensens Marina on Captiva has bait and gas. Be sure to fill the boat with gas before you leave.

The villa is powered by a solar battery backed up by a propane generator. It is equipped with all the amenities that a house on the mainland would have; AC, washer, dryer, dish washer, TVs, WIFI etc.

The house has been all fixed up from Hurricane Ian. We are very grateful to Lars the host for all the hard work he did this winter. Wonderful premium location in Florida!!!
Where do we start your own private island oasis. We caught all the fish we could possibly want, including redfish, snook, sea, trout and sheepshead. we had the Dolphins feeding out of our hand great place and the host is excellent deal with! Great place with plenty of room.
Our family had a wonderful Christmas at this North Captiva house. The spacious property perfectly balances beachfront seclusion with modern comforts. While its remote location means weather-dependent check-in times and slightly sulfuric groundwater, these are minor concerns. The management team excels at storm recovery, provides grocery delivery connections, and includes boat access. Special thanks to Lars and Dan for maintaining this amazing property!
This place is amazing! We discovered North Captiva last summer and returned this year for our annual family trip and would highly recommend this home. The house was extremely nice and has everything you need for your stay. Lars the owner was wonderful. He met us the day we arrived and got us to the island and ensured we had everything we needed. He was very accommodating and welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful time. We will definitely return. After many years of vacationing in the Destin area we finally had enough of the overcrowded beaches, terrible traffic, and packed restaurants. If you want a relaxing secluded vacation this place is for you. North Captiva is beautiful. The water is just as good as Destin. We had the entire beach to ourselves and swam with dolphins and manatees everyday. Can’t wait to go back again! Thank you Lars for everything!!

Villa Island Getaway
We had a great time at Villa Island Getaway. As stated in the information, this is a VERY remote location. There are maybe 6-7 houses in a row on the beach. The beach is BEAUTIFUL - we saw dolphins everyday. We walked about 45 minutes up the beach until it isn't passable on foot everyday and found amazing shells. Lars met us at the marina on Captiva and loaded all our luggage and groceries on the boat and delivered us to North Captiva. The boat that is included with the house is pretty primitive - just a flat bottom boat. It got us around fine but a nicer boat is shown in some pictures online. We took the boat to Captiva and to the more populated area on North Captiva for lunch. You can't have the boat out at night and the waterways take some education to avoid sandbars, etc. You WILL get wet while using the boat so keep this in mind when venturing out to eat, etc.
The house is very nice but does have some wear and tear. We LOVED the screened in porch - it has dining for 8, another table for 4-6 and a seating area for 4. We spent all of our time on the porch if we weren't on the beach. This house has very limited wifi and electricity (including a/c) is operated by solar panels. We never had any issues but we only ran the a/c at night if needed. The drip coffee maker did not work but there was a Keurig (we had to take the boat to get pods), kitchen granite is cracked by the sink. The washer and dryer were great. Master bedroom upstairs is huge with a soaker tub and king bed. 4 bedrooms downstairs - one jack and jill bathroom for a king bedroom and a queen bedroom. Two other downstairs bedrooms - one king and one queen share a small bathroom (not jack and jill).
The house next door is under renovation and is a bit of an eye sore. No one was working on it while we were there so it didn't bother us.
It’s on the beach. If you love eating fish and hate crowds this is it. Booked the house from Saturday to Saturday- we went to publix on Monday and that was the last time we left the house. More manatees than crystal river and more fish than an aquarium.
A unique experience to say the least! First we agree most every prior review…. Especially the kindness and communication with Lars. He and his wife tried to ensure our stay was memorable and offered advice which was great.
The location, location, location…. Is what makes this a special getaway. The island has 10 houses nearby with each neighbor we met nicer than the previous one! The view and beach and shells and wildlife was unforgettable. We heard screech owls and whippoorwills at night and watched the osprey and shore birds all day.
The beds are ok, furniture ok but none of it really matters when you have such a great off the grid spot to enjoy.
Most of our friends thought this adventure was a bit nuts but we really had a wonderfully unique time. Definitely would return!
This was such a fun getaway! The house is great for large groups. There were 9 of us and plenty of room! All the amenities were just as they were listed. The only thing we had trouble with was the TV. The internet streaming is tough on the island and especially at night for some reason. Just take DVDs. The initial grocery order from Jerry’s was messed up but they met us at the marina the next day and brought what they had forgotten to give us. I highly recommend going to the Timbers seafood market before going to the island. Their selection of fresh seafood was amazing and well worth it! Lars was nothing but helpful if we needed him and the property was amazing! Definitely going back!
The house was spacious, well supplied, and comfortable. The wildlife was phenomenal with nesting osprey, cranes, dolphins, snook. Sheephead, manatee, sand dollars, starfish, and hermit crabs. Boating to Captiva for more groceries or dining took pre-planning (Doc Ford's Restaurant offers scrumptious meal options) because of not being allowed on the water after dark but it also added a fun twist to the week!) The owner (Lars) was very easy to work with! We'd love to come again!
We had the best time on our vacation. The location was perfect and so peaceful. The property manager was so helpful and on call 24/7 to answer all of our questions. If you are looking for a place to relax while enjoying to s of Florida wildlife, this is the place for you. Highly recommend.
Ignore the lack of charm on the interior of this secluded 5-bedroom getaway (think: someone unloaded a castle full of heavy, dark furniture) accessible only by boat from your own private dock. Find your bliss in the sunrises, kayaking, fishing or swimming, miles of walkable beach with collectible shells and soul-filling wildlife sightings — eagles, osprey, thousands of shore birds and rumors of bobcats. View sunsets stretched for miles from the generous-sized screened porch perfect for cocktails and family-style shared dinners. Such delights blur memories of the abandoned house next door, boaters congregating on the sand bar in front of the house (visit the sandbar at sunrise for your own private shell tour), the wonky dishwasher, and the need for a deep cleaning. If dust bunnies and random hardware implements rolling in drawers disturbs your ability to absorb the peaceful setting, then search for a more sanitized locale. The privacy, wildlife, sunsets, sunrises, moonrises, and beach walks outweigh the downsides of this unbeatable off-the-grid property. Before you book: Check with the owner about possible construction next door and potential nearby dredging work.
Had a very nice stay. Everything was nice and as expected. The house and beach were great. The availability of the boat made getting around easy. Would stay again in the future.

The house, beach, and view is amazing. The boats that anchor on the beach, the mosquito's, and major construction to the home next door is not.
