About this property

Welcome to our home, Casa Vista do Mar, named after the beautiful sea views from the third floor terrace. Our home has two spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms, and is distributed over three levels, each with its own outdoor terrace or balcony. Casa Vista do Mar is located in the popular Vila Castelo Tradicional resort, in the heart of Ferragudo. The resort has a shared pool with a snack bar, which during the tourist season offers a variety of food and beverages to buy.

The entrance to the property is on the middle floor, and has steps leading up to the entrance. On this level you will find a fully equipped kitchen, kitchen bar with stools, and the dining area with seating for 6. You will also find a small entertainment area with a sofa and TV. You will also find a lovely small terrace with a bistro table for 2 on this level. It is the perfect place for your morning coffee. The large patio doors let in a lot of light and offers views towards the sea.

Downstairs, on the bottom floor, you will find two spacious bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The master bedroom, with a private ensuite bathroom, has a beautiful European King bed, ample wardrobe and drawer space, a safe, and access to a private terrace.
The second bedroom has both a Euro Queen bed and a single bed. The second bathroom, with shower, heated flooring and towel rack is located next to this bedroom.

Upstairs, on the third floor you will find the upper lounge with two comfortable leather sofas and TV/entertainment area. There is also a wood burning fireplace, perfect for winter stays.
Full width patio doors lead to a private and spacious sun terrace which offers breathtaking views over the river Arade, the medieval Fort of São João, and Portimao. There is a dining table located here and sun loungers .
This terrace is a lovely sun trap during the day, and is the perfect place to enjoy a few drinks and a meal while watching the sunset in the evening.

The house is fully equipped for both summer and winter stays as it has both air conditioning and electric heaters throughout. It also has a beautiful log burner on the third level, perfect for those winter evenings. The house is equipped with fire alarms, and a fire extinguisher. There is also a safe located in the house for those that choose to use one.

The house is ideally situated in Ferragudo, and offers easy access to two beaches and all the amenities in the main square of the village. The short walk to Praia Grande (The Big Beach) offers a child friendly, beautiful beach with four fantastic beach bars/restaurants, a play park, and sun beds and umbrellas to rent. A slightly longer walk will take you into Ferragudo’s main square where you will find a variety of restaurants, bars, cafes, and two mini markets. In addition to this, there is also another child’s play park, a variety of shops and a pharmacy. During the busy months the lively Ferragudo square offers something for everyone and is popular throughout the day, and into the evenings.

Three Levels to Love

We really enjoyed our 2 week winter visit to Ferragudo staying in this roomy, cheery condo. There are lots of stairs required, but the handrails are solid and the topmost balcony view is fantastic! We appreciated the convenient and close parking as we did most of our exploring of this hilly region by car. The beds and seating are comfortable and the kitchen is nicely equipped including Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee system. The property manager, Sandie, was amazing and gave us tips on exceptional local and nearby restaurants and activities. The hillside village of Ferragudo itself is charming and atmospheric with winding cobbled streets, small shops and a wide variety of restaurants. There is walkable access to a beach close by with waterfront al fresco drinks and dining and breathtaking views of sea cliffs and caves. Overall, it was a fantastic location and a great stay. We hope to return.

A room with a view

And what a view. Ferragudo has been our happy place for 12 years and this stay has been one of the best. None of the 3 floors of Lindsey's house were a disappointment but the top floor was second to none. The most beautiful room with the outstanding view of both the river and the sea. There was everything we could possibly need and more for a hassle free stay. Thankyou Lindsey and Sandie, we look forward to returning, hopefully next year.

My husband and I, and our two daughters live in Canada, and first travelled to Portugal in 2012. We enjoyed a few days in Lisbon before hiring a car and driving south to the Algarve, to the quaint fishing village of Ferragudo. We had loved Lisbon, and felt its beauty and history compared to other great cities in Europe. Once we arrived in Ferragudo we all quickly fell in love with the village, the kind people who lived and worked there, and the beautiful beaches that surrounded it. Being able to walk to the beach during the day, and then to a variety of restaurants at night was perfect. Anything to skip that hassle of packing the kids into a hot car every time we wanted to head to the beach, or to grab a meal at night!
Before we had left Ferragudo in that September, we had already planned our return for the following May. We have continued to visit every year, and finally made our dream come true this spring by buying our own family holiday home, somewhere to return to and enjoy with our children as they grow up.

Why they chose this property

The views from the third level terrace are breathtaking, and were the main reason we wanted to make Casa Vista do Mar our home. The spacious townhouse is filled with sun throughout the day, and is well laid out over three levels. Casa Vista do Mar offers a great indoor space with new, beautiful furniture, and the spacious terrace on the third level is our favourite place to enjoy a cold drink, or takeout in the evening, all while enjoying one of the best views in Ferragudo!
