About this property

Broadway Cottage | Convenient Country Location

Cain City was founded as one of the stops along the Fredericksburg and Great Northern Railway. It was a thriving town and until just about 40 years ago part of the old bank was still standing just a short distance from Broadway Cottage and Hill Cottage.

Located only a few miles from Fredericksburg this delightful quaint, little cottage boasts views of Fredericksburg. The yard has a wonderful array of birds. A rock patio in the back yard has comfy seating with a charcoal barbecue grill. The heavy growth of trees in the back is great for attracting birds, deer and other fun wildlife.

Your hosts also own Hill Cottage, which is next door and moved Broadway Cottage to this site in the late 1990's. Wood floors, fun yet elegant window treatments are found though out the house along with wonderful, playful rugs that brighten the rooms. The living/dining room offers an antique table for four and a colorful sofa mixed with an array of designs and colors. Two other chairs are placed perfectly for watching the Direct TV or just to enjoy visiting. There are two bedrooms both with queen-size beds topped with quilts. Two bathrooms offer showers. A comfy reading chair is found in the front bedroom along with an antique armoire.

A completely equipped country kitchen has a range/oven, refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffeemaker. A small table with chairs is also found in the kitchen.

Please Note: You are renting a cabin in the Hill Country which means you may encounter wildlife (Snakes, Deer, Racoons, ETC). Please be aware of your surroundings, and take caution while driving at night. You may also encounter the various bugs, spiders, scorpions and mice that live in the country AND sometimes do make their way inside. All properties do utilize pest control services on a regular basis BUT this does not guarantee no pests or bugs will be visible.

Nice stay for the price

The house was nice and in a convenient location. It is an older home and you can hear every step anyone takes in the house. That might bother some people but was fine for our group. The outside fire pit was fun but you really need four nice chairs to sit it.

Country Cozy

Everything was great…. Loved all the real wood floors, ceilings and walls….. beds were comfy too and lots of deer coming thru the property The negatives, dirty towels were left in the bathroom, nasty left over soap bar in the shower and really a lot of dirt on the floors

Cottage was dirty when we arrived

When we arrived at the house it still had not been cleaned from the last renters. The beds were unmade and wet towels were on the bed and floor. I called the property manager to let her know and she contacted the housekeeper who was unable to come over and clean. The manager did make it right by giving us a choice of 2 houses to stay in. It ended well and the manager was very prompt in her response to my call and was able to get us into another house quickly.

Short Getaway

Overall it was a great experience. Off the beaten path which we enjoyed. Very quiet and peaceful. Enjoyed the patio Suggestions: The locks on doors could be improved for security purposes. Improvement of driveway would be a plus. Some sort of ceiling lighting in bedroom would have been nice. However, loved the charm and character of the house

Nice stay out in the country

Pros: If you don't want to stay right in F-burg, but be close, this is a good option. Close to the 290 wineries as well. Place is clean. Kitchen lets you make some meals right there. Cons: Its an old house, so expect it to look/feel like an old house. Don't expect new build amenities. Has a nice back patio, but unfortunately there is another rental house right next door, which means its not private - which is unfortunate when you're all the way out in the country.

Needs a good cleaning

This adorable cottage really needs a good cleaning. I took pictures and videos of the neglect and sent them to the property manager but they didn't appear to care. One toilet had not been cleaned in a while Badly stained bathroom curtains Dirt in corners and on floor boards Dust everywhere We washed all dishes and silverware before using them

No Communication

The house could use a deep cleaning. There is an odor in the hall bath. Furniture was dusty. Instructions on how to use the TV should have been left in the house. We called the horse manager about wifi and never got a call back. Coffee pot had not been cleaned from the previous renters. I found the outside chair cushions on the ground. The back door by the kitchen is not secure and does not lock easily. The ceiling fan in the second bedroom does not work. Most of the light fixtures with multiple bulbs had at least one burned out. The secondary shower is barely a trickle. We were there for a girls' trip and would not stay there again.

Very disappointed, primarily because of how dirty the house was.Not sure where to start… we believe the sheets weren’t wash when we got there, my pillow case had a fresh spot of blood on it and other marks. A towel had fresh toothpaste on it.The whole house was dirty, spider webs, dead bugs (found 3 dead scorpions), dishes all had to be cleaned before being able to use them. The whole house should be deep cleaned, not just the visible surfaces.We will not be coming back or using this company again.

Broadway cottage

Lovely cottage with a charming interior. We did have a couple of issues. The tv didn’t work but someone came out, it took a few hours, and fixed it. Also, there was no WiFi which was not clear on the description page. We did fine without as there is plenty to do in Fredericksburg.Overall a good experience.

Quality Time

Perfect distance from Fredericksburg and Luckenbach. Home has a comfort feel. Took advantage of the fire pit in the back. Would most definitely stay again.

Great Location and Facility but some upkeep needed

We loved the country setting. The furnishings were comfortable. The decor was good. The AC worked well. The water is "hard" - high mineral content - but okay. The one big issue - a maintenance issue - was the main entry door. It sticks badly. It requires considerable force to open and close it. The deadbolt lock was also difficult to operate, probably due to the bad fit of the door to the frame. This requires immediate attention.

Repairs needed.

The fan did not work in the bedroom to the left. The side entrance door was so hard to open and close. Overall we all enjoyed our stay in this very original little cottage, with an abundance of deer.. It was so close to the music festival we attended in Lukenbach. Hopefully we will return next year. Thankyou Jane.

Enchanting!

A quiet country retreat, with great views, wildlife(deer,) birds, wildflowers. We much enjoyed the vintage house and decor; it felt like Mary Englebreit lived here. We were quite comfortable, had all that was needed to cook meals. The location was perfect, away from the bustle of Fredericksburg, but easy to get there, or to other towns, parks, scenic drives. My daughter and I did not want to leave.The only negative was my arthritic hands not being able to open the doors to the outside.

Broadway cottage

The cottage was lovely with a nice homely vibe well decorated and plenty of amenities. However Wi-Fi would've been a lovely plus due to the poor cellular reception in the area. The abundant wildlife was a pleasure to hear and see in the backyard was a lovely treat. It was well situated for our needs close to town and close to friends in the area. The only downfall was the lack of cleanliness. When we arrive we found broken glass on the floor, gummy like pills under the bed within reach of our four-year-old, large amount of mold in the coffee maker, blood on the bed sheets and blanket in the smaller bedroom, fruit pouches behind the couch, and Toilet paper still cleaning for life on the plunger in the hall bathroom. After a five hour flight and a 1 hour drive. to get there it was very frustrating to then have to clean to ensure our child had a clean bed to sleep in and was safe from other hazards. Unfortunately will not be renting again and cannot recommend it to other families.
