Guests experience true relaxation in this iconic home sharing a backyard with koalas, wallabies and countless bird species. The Beach House is often visited by kookaburras and lorikeets and in the evening wallabies and possums. The front yard is the untouched Arthur Bay beach, a preferred snorkelling destination on Magnetic Island in the Great Barrier Reef, a short ferry ride from Townsville. The Bay is surrounded by wooded hills laced with hiking trails, studded by magnificent granite boulders. It is recognizable for its hallmark, much photographed pandanus tree.
Snorkel or fish off the beach in the front yard and try spotting a whale in the winter months from the patio. The view from this patio of sunrise over the Bay is breathtaking as is the moonrise reflecting on the Bay. There is a small creek in the Bay which is a permanent tidal pool, ideal for children to find crabs, hermit crabs and other sea creatures.
The Beach House features a swimming pool, plenty of indoor and outdoor dining space, a unique boulder in the middle of our TV lounging room, gas barbecues and a fully equipped kitchen.
Neighbouring our stunning location is the famous Forts walk. While being a significant part of our history it is a well known walk for koala spotting. There are numerous hiking trails within this area. A short drive from home will have you near local shops, cafes, supermarket, restaurants and of course other attractions Magnetic Island has to offer. The access drive to Arthur Bay is best tackled in a SUV or 4 WD. We can certainly explain this upon check in or during the booking process.
2 bedrooms in the Beach House feature king size beds and 2 feature queen size beds. In addition for any young children there is a set of bunk beds and a travel cot which are available upon request with additional charges.

An amazing location but let down by some of the detail. No Wi-fi, no phone line, light bulbs not replaced and out dated bathrooms. Despite this the location makes it a try unique experience (but it could be amazing with a bit more effort!!)

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately the 700mm of rain that fell caused a few issues on Magnetic Island.& Nth Qld. At least the access road to the house was fixed but relying on Telstra for the phone & wifi has proved to be challenging. The rewards of the rain are certainly appreciated by locals & visitors when the fresh waterfalls are flowing & the waterholes are full.
My family and I were lucky enough to stay at The Beachhouse in early November 2018. The drive around Magnetic Bay and down to Arthur Bay is truly spectacular. The house itself is huge and it is tucked away in the bushland beautifully. Our children were very excited to find the large granite rock that remains as a feature in the downstairs cinema room. The house is two story with many rooms and bathrooms and a very nice swimming pool It was a hot day, but the house is air conditioned so felt very comfortable. We cooked a barbeque on the balcony on our first night, enjoying the beach view, beautiful bushland surroundings and magical star filled sky.
Arthur Bay itself is amazing. We paddled around the bay in the couple of surf Kayaks that the Beachhouse provided, and later snorkled around the reef seeing coral, tropical fish, and stingrays.
Thanks very much to Townsville local, Darrel Butler, for recommending this exclusive property. It is a millionaires paradise. We really enjoyed our stay.

Very Poorly Maintained Property
Dirty dishes, stained quilts - no covers, poorly cleaned, could be a spectacular property if properly maintained. Location is fantastic but expected more for the price charged for the property.

Holiday in Paradise
I'm a Townsville girl originally so Magnetic Island is a place I spent many weekends as a teenager. Back then, I certainly wasn't able to stay anywhere near as beautiful and luxurious as the Beach House. Maggie Island itself is one gorgeous girl. Easy access in under half an hour, or 40 minutes if like us, you choose to take your car over. In hindsight, probably didn't need the car since we had everything we needed and more at the House, and the island has great public transport. The House itself is massive with enough space for our two families and kidlets. It is a stunner! Rooms are spacious and like a hotel with their own shower and toilet. I love, love, loved waking up to the gorgeous blue north Queensland sky and hearing the native birds letting us know it was morning. There's a massive kitchen with anything and everything you would want, including an espresso machine, gas oven and dishwasher--because like, who wants to wash dishes on holiday, right? The dining table would have been suitable for a dinner party but with our small kids we especially enjoyed the deck overlooking the bay where we spent our meals and enjoyed plenty of drinks watching sunsets and listening to tunes on the house stereo. It's the only house in this bay, and we pretty much had the beach to ourselves the whole time. Kids had to be dragged kicking and screaming inside at the end of the day. They enjoyed beachcombing, swimming and digging in the sand. The waters were very clear and calm. We also swam in the house pool and used the BBQ right next to it. I managed to catch some rays (read: sunburn--don't forget to protect your skin people) from the poolside deckchairs. Wine tastes so much better outdoors, doesn't it? So if you've managed to read to the end of this review, you'll know that we had a bloody amazing time, and are already dreaming of when we will be able to get back. Hope it's soon!
