About this property
Breathtaking Ocean & Rainforest Valley View
This home is truly a special place. The house is immersed in nature in a very private setting with a gorgeous ocean and rainforest view. Because of its privacy, you will almost certainly see monkeys, all kinds of birds, and much more wildlife than your average place in this area. The house is a 5 minute drive, or ~35 minute walk to Montezuma center and it’s beaches (2.5km away)
Fast FIBER OPTIC internet available makes this an ideal place to work from home.
There are three bedrooms (2 queen beds, 1 king) and three full bathrooms in the house - two bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs. On the ocean/ valley side there is a beautiful upstairs balcony, and a large deck on the lower level with a plunge pool.
This home was built and designed with great care and lots of love, and you will feel that warmth. The upstairs balcony is magical for morning coffee and during twilight hours. Full kitchen, laundry room, and many places to relax. The grounds are super private with no neighbors, and there are many growing fruit trees on the property. There is also a fire pit in the yard.
The house is designed with natural cooling techniques (constant ocean/ valley breezes, the floors are cool to the feet, monitor roof, shaded by the surrounding trees), so while there is no A/C, there is no need for it. The house naturally maintains a pleasant temperature. There are plenty of ceiling fans as well throughout.
I have two cats named Yoshi and Uva who typically stay with me next door, but they are free to come and go to the this property as they please. They are super sweet. Guests with severe cat allergies have stayed here many times in the past without issue because the house is wonderfully open and airy and regularly cleaned thoroughly.

This place was a total gem! The drive to get there was an adventure in itself. Dave gave great directions which included videos making it much easier to find, even at night. The decor of the house and views were amazing! It was super private and relaxing. We only stayed 2 nights starting our adventure up the coast for 8 days. This place was exactly what we needed to relax and unwind. We took advantage of all 3 hammocks and cooled down in the small but effective private pool. The outdoor showers were really cool too. Not everyday you get to shower under the moon. Our 12 year-old daughter loved playing on the aerial sling in the main room. Dave was great communicating and making sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend!!!
We had a wonderful stay at this property in Montezuma. The home offers a beautiful view from the hills overlooking town, giving it a peaceful, remote feel while still being incredibly convenient — only about a 10-minute drive to the center of Montezuma and less than 30 minutes to Santa Teresa.Dave was an outstanding host. He struck the perfect balance of being responsive and available without ever being intrusive, making us feel well supported while still enjoying complete privacy. The check-in process was smooth, and his directions to the property were clear and extremely helpful — which is especially important in this area and made our arrival stress-free (get a 4x4 vehicle). We would absolutely recommend this stay to anyone looking for both tranquility and easy access to everything the Nicoya Peninsula has to offer. A fantastic experience from start to finish.
Beautiful place…
we encounter multiple animals, specially at dusk and dawn just hanging out on one of the porches/balconies.
In one of the rooms, a bit too much curious little visitors at night, but besides that everything was perfect.
Communication with the host Dave was easy.
For our first trip to Costa Rica, our family wanted to stay somewhere we could feel like locals, and Dave's house fit the bill perfectly. This beautiful and secluded property is nestled in a lush jungle-like setting, surrounded by towering trees, vibrant flora, and the sounds of local wildlife. It's spacious and comfortable with a rustic charm that allowed us to live simply--something we really needed and appreciated. A week here wasn't enough.

Thanks for staying, Dave! You and your family are welcome back anytime. Come stay for longer next time :)
Pictures don’t do this home justice. It is gorgeous inside and out. Incredible views of the forest and Pacific Ocean and a soundtrack provided by a variety of birds, howler monkeys and other wildlife. The splash pool provides the perfect place to cool off. Dave was an excellent communicator and was generous with recommendations for restaurants and for help with directions. Be aware that the place is quite remote and it’s literally off the grid (but with excellent WiFi). The roads in the area are dirt and are rough in many places. We had no trouble and enjoyed the open air nature of the house. It was warm during our visit, but breezes felt great.
We stayed at 2 places on our family trip to Costa Rica. This was the second (first was on the Caribbean side). This location is remote, and off the main road so you will need a 4X4. But that is exactly what we wanted and that is exactly what we got!
Unbelievable view. Great deck, plenty of room for a family of 5. It was not on solar when we were there which to me was a plus as we did not have to worry about running the dishwasher, etc. The washer was not working, which was a disappointment. But things break so you just deal. Dave was responsive and tried hard to get it going, which we appreciated.
If I had to find something we did not like, it is very minor. Several of the light switches were broken or not operational. But, we managed just fine and it was not a big enough deal for me to call Dave. Some of the screening had holes and some screen doors show their age. But again, it was manageable and was not a deterrent in any way. Just an observation.
Dave was great and responsive on any inquiries He set us up with a sweet captain to go fishing and, unfortunately, when we had some stomach issues, he recommended a great pharmacy.
Overall this was a really nice and enjoyable experience. You will love the view and all the peace and quiet that comes with this beautiful home. Would stay there again for sure!

About the host
Hosted by Dave Bell
I am a former Civil Engineer who moved from the US to Costa Rica. I designed and built my home here.
Why they chose this property
The house is unique, artistic, beautiful, and supremely peaceful. Surrounded by rainforest with a breathtaking ocean and valley view, and no neighbors. If you are looking to feel at home in the jungle, this place is for you.
What makes this property unique
Because the property is so private peaceful, on the end of an already quit road, you are sure to see incredible wild life here (and more of it than your average rental in the area). Monkeys, all types of birds, iguanas, deer, coatis, and many more animals are daily visitors here.
