About this property
LUXURY SELF CATER CHALET - PRIVATE SWIMMING POOL - STEAM ROOM - OUTDOOR HOT TUB
SELF CATERING - Chalet Pepé is a stunning chalet in the beautiful mountain village of Champagny L'Haut. It is just a 5-10 min bus or car ride up the mountain from Champagny en Vanoise, a popular vilage ski resort linked to La Plagne and part of Paradiski. At 1500m, you have sledging and tobogganing outside your chalet for most of the winter and you can join the cross country trails from your doorstep!
Chalet Pépé is a beautifully converted, traditional Savoyarde farmhouse, with its own private swimming pool, steam room and sunken outdoor hot tub. Set in the heart of the spectacular ancient village of Champagny L'Haut, it has picturesque views up the valley and as far as the eyes can see. It is truly magical when you see Bouquetin and Chamois foraging in the snow from the chalet!
The chalet faces south east, with fabulous views from the living areas and the 3 front bedrooms with private balconies. Each of the 7 bedrooms has its own beautiful en-suite shower room or bathroom, all with private wc's. One of the double bedrooms has an internal door connecting it to a bunk room, making an ideal family room. There is also a ninth sleeping area in a small attic room above the second living room. The chalet sleeps a comfy 14 adults but you can fit in a total of 18 if you use the bunk room and attic rooms.
Please note: Linen and end of stay cleaning are only included in the price for full week bookings in the winter ski season, for all other periods and lengths of stay, these services are charged extra. Please enquire for full details.
The chalet has been owned by the same local family for several generations and has been sensitively and beautifully renovated, using local materials and traditional building methods.
The chalet is situated in the village of Champagny Le Haut, an ancient farming village that seems to have stopped in time. There are still small fams producing local cheeses and cows kept under farmes sitting rooms!! You will often see Bouquetin and Chamois in front of the chalet as the wild life comes down off the mountains in search of grazing.
The cross country piste passes very close to the chalet, so perfect if you like this form of exercise and is just a 5 minute drive from the alpine pistes in Champagny, just down the valley, which links you into the vast ski area of La Plagne and Paradiski.
Champagny en Vanoise - Village Resort: Champagny is an authentic mountain village with a character that still reflects its ancient farming origins. Tiny paths link old farms and chalets in a village where traditional Savoie life and modern tourism mesh seamlessly together. The village has a lively atmosphere with shops, bars & restaurants within easy walking distance. At night, Le Timbale, Les Rochers & Le Pichouan are the main focal points for socialising and dancing .
Skiing & Boarding at Champagny: A cable-car whisks skiers to the Champagny ski area (2000m) in just 7 minutes which is where you’ll find the nursery slopes. Three brilliant long blue runs are great to learn on and progress to while advanced skiers can zip on to the superb off piste either side. You have a choice of two red runs to take you back to the village at the end of the day. Champagny offers direct access into La Plagne, but is less busy, so is much quieter and more pleasant, especially during peak weeks.
Skiing & Boarding the Paradiski Area which includes both La Plagne and Les Arcs, the two linked together by the biggest cable car in the world, the huge 'Vanoise Express Telecabine'. The whole ski area covers a massive 425km of finely groomed pistes in one of the biggest interlinked ski areas in Europe. With over 180 blue and red runs to cruise down, most skiers and boarders can travel vast distances around the 16 villages. Some very long black runs descend both the Bellecote Glacier (3250m) and the Aiguille Rouge (3225m) both on and off piste. There are also several, into the pretty tree lined runs descending into Vallandry , Plan Peissey and Montchavin. There are also numerous mogul fields in the area and 2 board parks, half pipes and boarder cross runs.
Please note: Linen and end of stay cleaning are only included in the price for full week bookings in the winter ski season, for all other periods and lengths of stay, these services are charged extra. Please enquire for full details.

About the host
Hosted by Steve & Emma

We have been running catered and self catering ski chalets since 1992. When we started, our ethos was to promote traditional ski resorts, that retained their French atmosphere and traditional characteristics, not overrun by the Brits or huge amounts of packaged tourists. We chose village resorts that had this, but were still linked to the top ski areas in the Alps for unlimited snow sure skiing. We started in Les Houches where we also own a fantastic 15 person chalet, Rocky Mountain (#3081) and then found the Champagny en Vanoise and Champagny L'Haut areas in the late 1990's, which fitted in to our portfolio perfectly. We have have down sized over the years and now just run 3 chalets which has enabled us to set up another business in Cornwall, UK, where we now live and also run a Luxury Glamping Campsite in Poldark country, next to a famous old tin and copper mine. if you are ever heading to Cornwall, check out Wheal Busy Holidays!
Why they chose this property
It is in a beautiful situation in a real French village - a fantastic ski resort in its own right with links to practically unlimited skiing and snowboarding. It has a fast, modern lift system and lots of affordable family and beginner passes and various lesson and ski pass options. In essence, we fell in love with Champagny because it has the best of both worlds! It has a fantastic ski area but also a natural charm and ambience which makes it different to many mass marketed ski resorts.
What makes this property unique
It is in a stunning setting with beautiful views. Everyone loves looking out at the cold snowy mountains from the warm jacuzzi and swimming pool. We are a small family business with over 30yrs knowledge and experience, so we have really honed our product over many years. Our top priority is providing high quality self catering chalets with amazing facilities at affordable prices.
