About the host
Hosted by Katy and David Mitchell

David and Katy have been married for over 50 years and counting. We have two sons with their wonderful wives and 5 grandkids. We have dreamed of having a lake home getaway that we could enjoy with our family for years, but never thought it was possible. David still works part time in the family business with the help of his wife and his brother Pat converting large two-wheeled motorcycles to trikes (three wheelers) and raises sheep on the family farm.
Why they chose this property
We looked at lake property all over Central Texas for years. Most were too expensive, too crowded, too rocky, too small, too far away, etc. Honestly, we had never even heard of Lake Limestone until our oldest son mentioned he worked with a guy who grew up there. But once we found this property, we were hooked! As my son says, "It checks off all the boxes!" :-) The beach has a bulkhead, but it has a gently sloped, sandy beach which makes it perfect for the little ones when the lake level is down. When it's up, it's only about 2 feet deep at the bulkhead. You can sit in the shade and watch them play. You can fish off the dock, swim, or have a blast if you bring jet skis or boats. The large covered deck handles the largest family reunion or just the two of us eating lunch and watching the water fowl. We have kayaks available and a variety of water toys to enjoy. We love it here, and hope you will too.
What makes this property unique
In addition to sleeping 12 folks comfortably, this property has it all. The house is close to the water which allows you to be in the kitchen or sun room and watch the kids play. When the lake isn't full, the sandy beach (when the lake is down a bit) is gently sloped so very kid friendly. Or you can sit in the swing under the shady trees only a step or two from the water. The large covered deck off the lakeside of the house is perfect for eating for just a few or a large crowd.
The property is protected from the south wind which makes the water smooth whenever the wind is blowing from the south, which is when we all want to be in the water in the Summer. It's on the upper area of the lake with quick access to the Navasota River for fishing for white bass in the Spring. There is an outdoor covered porch area equipped with a sink which makes the perfect place to clean all your fish before you cook them for dinner!
In addition to the 3 bedrooms (1 king bed and 2 queens), there is a loft area with 2 twin beds which is perfect for the older kids. And in the game room equipped with a ping pong table and lots of kid games is a bunk bed with a full bed on both the bottom and the top.
