Cute place! Bathroom is remodeled different from the pictures and looks great. Comfortable bed, very clean. Perfect spot to hit downtown Gaylord or hit the slopes.
The home was very clean and recently remodeled. There was still a sticker on the new back door. Some things seemed to be not quite finished. For example the new windows had no screens. The bathroom and flooring were all new and very nice. Two interior doors need work to close properly.
Loved the location. Circle drive made coming and going easy. Close to downtown and the highway.
Some things need to be improved. The doors don't shut to the bedroom and bathroom. The rugs are slippery on the floor and could cause a slip and fall. Secure the floor rugs or get rid of them, especially if you have elderly people staying in the home. Also, the thresholds in door are a fall risk. We were tripping until we got aquinted with the lay out of the house. House needs an address posted in front. It's hard to find.
Otherwise a 4 star review!?
Quaint little house that was great for a girls weekend.

Disappointed
The bedroom listed as having a queen bed was exactly that. Just big enough for a queen bed. No side table, nothing. Room is not even big enough to stand next to the bed. Inches from both walls and NO air conditioning. The unit is air-conditioned with 2 TINY old window units. Did not work well. Glad we had a very short term stay where we didn't need to be inside more than a couple of waking hours.
Need:
A cutting board
A sheet pan
Written instructions on how to change water from tub to shower
Top for carafe
Hard to see house number and it could use some sprucing up outside but this was also early spring
Owner responded immediately to the our call about a slow drain.
Very clean older home and fully supplied except for items listed above.
Originally from Gaylord in the area for family funeral/ memorial services. The property was very comfortable and conveniently located! Would definitely stay again
Decided to take a quick trip to Gaylord for a weekend of skiing and tubing. Saw the listing for The Guest House on Main. Thought is was the perfect location and a reasonable rate. The house is minutes to winter fun at both Otsego and Treetops as well as minutes to Downtown Gaylord. I would certainly stay there again.
Really enjoyed our stay at the house. The location was great. Lots of shopping and restaurants right down the street. Loved the space in the house. Our daughter is just under 2 and there was plenty of space to play and minimal child proofing, which is a major bonus. The only downside for us was the back door. It had a lever handle and could be opened from the inside whether or not the door was locked. The back room was perfect size to setup a pack and play. The weather kept us in the house quite a bit while my husband was gone for his business. It was super cozy! Didn’t use the washer and dryer, but loved that it was available. Also loved that someone was there to keep up on keeping the drive and sidewalk plowed. Definitely would stay there again if we’re ever back in town.
My husband, 2 daughters, my parents and I stayed at this house. It was a nice place close to everything we needed for the wedding we were attending. Liz had a great couple touches...smore supplies and a basket with all the essentials...chapstick, lotion, snacks, hot cocoa. She even had a Christmas tree up.
It was a very nice place. Clean.well stocked, circle drive was easy in and out. Lots to see and do in the immediate area. Great set up outside to cook out and/or enjoy a bonfire. Very nice kitchen...great for a larger gathering. Kid friendly. Would definitely stay again.
The Guest House was very nice for my visiting family members. As a local person, I would recommend it. I was a little disappointed in having to delay our check in by one day., per owners request. I do expect a refund for that day. Thank you.
This house offers a nice living room/dining area and full kitchen which came in handy when we encountered wet weather. Nicely decorated and very clean. Had no internet access when we arrived but owners were very responsive and soon had the issue resolved. Would rent again!

Hi, I'm Liz, it's nice to meet you. My sister Hannah and I run the Guest House and the Main House in Gaylord, Michigan. We are glad to have you as our guests. If you need any recommendations of things to do or see while you are in Northern Michigan we are happy to help. Hannah is very into the history of our Alpine Village, while I like to enjoy the many community events our downtown puts on throughout the year. In the summers we have the concert series, and throughout the winter there are many different festivities held downtown. All within walking distances of the Guest House and the Main House.
Explore, Enjoy, and Relax, you're Up North.
