About this property

Milton - Donovans Cottage, 1870 - dog friendly

We look forward to welcoming you back later this year from 01 November 2023, just in time for the summer and Christmas season! From May Donovan's Cottage is undertaking some renovations... nothing major but work that can't be done with guests of course.

Donovan’s Cottage offers the opportunity to stay in a stunning original classic 1870 Settlers cottage centrally situated in a quiet location in Milton, ‘where the country meets the sea’, and dog friendly!

It offers comfort and tradition for those looking for the perfect escape. Fully renovated by a local builder who believes in attention to detail, there has been no compromise in restoring this beautiful cottage.

Tucked away in a central but quiet location, the cottage is just metres to all the village attractions on the high street, including the pub and the supermarket at 132 metres away!

A short five minute car ride takes you to the pristine and beautiful beaches of Mollymook, Narrawallee and surrounds, both of which are patrolled by Surf Life Saving during the summer months.

The area offers a myriad of outdoor activities including surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, whale watching and fishing.

Cottage amenities

The cottage itself offers a unique mix of traditional and modern convenience, maintaining a quirky character whilst creating a lovely homely feel. The kitchen is fully-equipped, with a gas stove and electric oven, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, all utensils and basic pantry staples. A SMEG coffee maker finishes off these touches with fresh ground coffee provided, along with tea, sugar and milk.

High ceilings and an open-plan layout create a light lounge area with a log burner for cosy winter evenings, including ceiling fans and air-conditioning. There is a new smart Netflix-enabled TV, and Wi-Fi.

The two bedrooms are beautifully appointed, creating a comfortable night’s sleep with a vision of yester-year. All care has been taken to select top quality towels, beach towels, duvets, anti-allergy pillows and Sheridan sheets. The master bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has two singles, both have ceiling fans and air-conditioning.

Cruelty-free toiletries in the form of Body Shop products are provided complimentary to make your stay a luxury one.

Donovan’s Cottage has is fully fenced both front and back, holding in a typical country-cottage style garden. The front veranda provides the perfect setting for ‘sun-downers’, facing west with a view to Pigeon House Mountain. For a cooler retreat during the summertime, the back veranda and garden offer privacy and dining opportunities, the sun room also giving a light and airy option. Off-street parking at the cottage is provided for two cars, parking so near to the village centre being at a premium.

Local attractions

Donovan’s Cottage is within walking distance to several foodie paradises, including the award-winning St Isadore’s. Other restaurants just minutes away by foot include Mrs Topps and The Harvest Bar, as well as café’s, premium coffee and pizza. A short car ride away offers Rick Stein’s at Bannister’s Restaurant and Tallwood Eatery both at Mollymook, and Cupitt’s Winery offering wine tastings, a restaurant, brewery, live music and more recently a fromagerie.

Along the high street is the Milton Theatre, a converted cinema currently used as a music venue attracting events from all around the country. Local markets are held at the Showground on the first Saturday of the month and Milton has some fine boutique clothes shopping.

The interior is tastefully decorated, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The bedrooms are well-appointed, ensuring a comfortable night's sleep. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances. Situated in a tranquil setting, it's conveniently located near shops, cafes, and restaurants offering a perfect balance between seclusion and accessibility.

Quaint Cottage
A wonderful little cottage with all the comforts of home. So close to shops, cafes and restaurants of Milton and to Mollymook beach. Dog friendly with great yard for your furry friend to roam. Thanks Jan for hosting us, we had a very relaxing, comfortable stay.

A dream of a stay
This historic cottage is adorable and comfortable, and retains some original features as well as a pictorial history of its restoration. It has a lovely veranda and outdoor space but I was delighted to find it also backs onto the village green, which is a beautiful and quiet green space for families to picnic or simply sit and enjoy the surrounds. It also provides access to the main street with its boutique stores, cafes and IGA which has an awesome little deli within it. Also highly recommend Pilgrims Cafe! I rate my stay 10 out of 10, and my only regret is that I couldn't stay longer. Jan clearly wants her guests to enjoy their stay and I rate her 10 out of 10 too!
