About this property

OCEANFRONT! 4.2 STEPS to Shore!

One-of-a-kind Barnstable three bedroom home which you will not experience oceanfront living anywhere else like this! It is set out beyond all other houses which provide UNBEATABLE sunrises and sunsets, as well as incredible views of Barnstable Harbor to Sandy Neck. The house is practically one with the ocean with EVERY room having oceanfront views. No need to even move out of the house to see and be part of ocean life -- you're simply part of it inside the home. It's all-access ocean 24/7.

Witness the most beautiful sunrises! Not an early bird? No worries! There's no need to move or completely wake-up or go outside to see them. Just stay in your bed, peek open your eyes, and watch the stunning sunrises. Or head out to the upper or lower balcony, or sit comfortably in the front yard with a coffee and be stunned by the view. Just watch the sunrise and roll back over and finish your restful sleep. But fair warning: you won't want to because there's too much to do!

Miss the sunrise, no worries! Just look to the West and watch the most moving sunsets during the evening. Again, you can view it while in the house or outside in our cozy Adirondack chairs. Don't forget your favorite beverage!

Take a leisurely walk to Barnstable Village to dine or shop at the many restaurants, antique shops, comedy club (theater), village market, ice cream shop, Day Spa, and library (oldest in the country). Take a walk or trolley ride to Mill Way Beach/Barnstable Harbor, go deep-sea fishing, high-speed rib touring, learn about the area on an eco-tour, go whale watching, dining on the harbor, or simply just be at the house and absorb the views and ocean breezes.

Relax, enjoy a BBQ, take a hot outdoor shower, and enjoy the sea breezes.

You'll have company early morning and evening as fisherman-in-the-know often stand nearby and/or float on by in boats to catch the fish. Many times you'll even witness them "jumping" from the water. Nearby Barnstable Marine sells bait and lets you know what the fishies are biting on.

Come stay and have a great time!

FAQ: Beach Just Steps Away
Is the beach in front super sandy?
The beach in front is a mixture of sand, shell, and rock. It's not a sandy beach that you dig your toes into. I provide a beach pass that allows free entry into all local area beaches and ponds to give the sandy-toes fix.

Do you swim at the beach?
Yes, we all swim here. The best time to swim is at high tide. The tides change every 6 hours. You will see two tides (high/low or low/high every 12 hours.

Can you swim at low tide?
Yes, my preference remains at high tide. I prefer at low tide to take a kayak (rental information provided) and head out to the sandbars that occur out front. Or, do something else (like hangout in the yard, walk the beach, etc.) and wait for high tide. I also include a beach pass that allows you entry into all the area beaches.

Is the view obstructed?
It is an unobstructed waterfront view. Enjoy and be amazed!

Can I bring more than two cars?
We are very close to the ocean - our parking is limited to 2 cars.

Fantastic location!
My wife and I rented the place for a week in late October and were joined mid-week by another couple. We had a wonderful time, and would gladly rent this place again. There was excellent communication with the host before and during the rental. The kitchen is well stocked. There were also plenty of blankets, extra sheets, towels, etc. to go around. Of note, there is one fantastic bedroom on the 2nd floor, and two "acceptable" rooms, which are comfortable, but not as grand as the one with views north/east/west and access to the 2nd floor porch. The 1/2 bath downstairs is quite small. You also should pay attention to tides, as a walk on the rocky beach is limited to an hour or so on either side of low tide. There are strict warnings about staying within the property lines above the high-tide line. Plan accordingly. Overall, we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay with excellent sunrise/sunsets and views of the waterfowl, boats and distant lighthouse. Convenient to Barnstable village and close enough to the mid-cape and Hyannis ferries.

INCREDIBLE !!!
The house is located in a very very nice neighborhood and was so clean and immaculate. It had everything that we needed for our week long stay. The views of the water, sunrises, sunsets and the lighthouse off in the distance were absolutely beautiful !!! It was quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The information packet that Shannon sends a couple weeks before your stay has everything in it that you need to know about the property and area. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again.

An Enjoyable Week
We all enjoyed our stay in Barnstable. The cottage had excellent views of the harbor. Each of the three bedrooms had its own harbor view. We enjoyed a wonderful week of whale watching, fine food, and an excellent place to stay. Barnstable was the perfect place to begin exploring the rest of Cape Cod.

Sunrise and moonset - all at one place!
It was incredible to have views of the bay from three sides of the house! We saw sunrise, sunset and moonset. It was beautiful. The house was fully equipped, very clean and even better than pictured. Shops and restaurants, paddleboat and kayak rentals (and the whale watch boat) were all close by. Our host was responsive and very kind. It is a delightful site and one I would definitely hope to return to.

About the host

Hosted by Shannon Smith

Host profile image
After spending nearly every summer of my life on the Cape in Barnstable, my husband and I were fortunate to purchase locally in 2002. We purchased this house in 2018 from the most wonderful and warm friends and neighbors. It's with joy that we share our Cape Cod experience with you.

We are nearby and are available for you during your stay.

Why they chose this property

The house is one of the furthest out on land closest to the ocean and built on the site of an original fisherman's shack that got damaged during "The Perfect Storm." They, really, don't build them like this anymore...

What makes this property unique

You will be part of ocean life in this house. It is completely unique!
