We invite you to put your toes in the sand and a beverage in your hand...Horse Inn Around is our little oasis where we escape to relax and enjoy a secluded beach vacation. We visit the area as often as we can and love it for it's peaceful laid back, away from it all atmosphere. Enjoy your complimentary (Horse Inn Around bottle of wine) while soaking in the serene hot tub under the twinkling stars.

Almost everything is new including: hot tub, wet bar and a fully stocked kitchen. There is a washer and dryer. Even a high chair for the little one.

A 4WD VEHICLE IS A MUST TO GET TO THIS PROPERTY. Seriously, You're going to drive 10 miles up the beach and LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT!

**Linens (bedding and towels) can be provided for an additional fee or bring your own. Please advise at the time of booking.

**Pets welcome for an additional fee (more fun to bring with you and definitely most cost effective than boarding).

The location is a remote, wooded lot, where the horses love to roam and take shade from the sun. While private, you are just a short two-minute drive to the beach, where you can chose your favorite beach front parking spot and relax, look for sea shell treasures, maybe spot a school of dolphins or watch the horses play. Beach parking passes included.

Note: In Carova, there is a large dune that separates houses from the beachfront, so most vacationers choose to drive to the beach regardless if 50 feet or 1100 feet from the beach. It's part of the charm of Carova -one of the only beaches left in the USA that you can still drive and park on. No need to pack and unpack all of your beech stuff, all week! Why carry the cooler when your 4 wheel drive can do it for you.

Great week on the beach

My family and I had a wonderful stay in North Carolina thanks to Rene and Dan. Their property is on a lovely piece of land behind the dune field. It's quiet and isolated from the loudest aspects of the beach, but a comfortable walk or drive to the surf. We enjoyed picnicking on the patio and relaxing, very much.

An excellent house in a prime location

This house had everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. We especially enjoyed the games and the fire pit. The location is perfect to enjoy all that Carova has to offer. We loved seeing the horses and enjoying the beach. Can’t wait to return.

Wonderful host!!! House was great, clean,and had more stuff to use then listed. We had a wonderful stay. Highly recommend visiting Carova Beach 🏝️ lots of horses 🐎 visiting the house yard and around the neighborhood.

Relaxing getaway

This was a great holiday getaway. Property is exactly as seen in the pictures. We arrived to a clean, cool home with the air conditioning and ceiling fans on awaiting our arrival. Our daughter also appreciated the snack selection that was prepared as an arrival gift, a very nice touch. Thanks for a great time... and oh yes, the horses did visit us.

Absolutely gorgeous, nestled in the trees. Beautiful woodwork. Design lifting upward with unique windows that shaped the sunlight. Comfortable and restful. Porches off bedrooms and living room that portered closeness with nature - to hear the ocean! I long to return and will.

Perfection!

Words cannot describe how wonderful this beach home is… Yes, I said home! My family and I enjoyed this place so much that we stayed another night, if it wasn’t for adult responsibility we would have stayed longer. The horses came right up to the house and walked the beach plenty of times, plus we got to see dolphins almost every day. The 4x4 beach was absolutely amazing and a great place to explore. We found the most beautiful shells on our morning and night walks. We definitely plan on making this apart of our new adventures in the futures. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Secluded and quiet

We had a great time in our vacation! We loved driving on the beach, getting in the hot tub, and seeing all the horses! The new decks were nice to relax on. The owners were so nice and he let us bring all of our dogs! There were issues with the AC and a broken board and they were fixed promptly. We had wonderful shrimp from the farmers market. Great fried chicken from the chicken coop. Make sure you bring all of your grocery items because getting to town is a haul. We also had fun on a rainy day at the indoor arcade and souvenir shopping. We didn’t hear a single car from our house- we really enjoyed the sounds of the ocean and the quiet. It was a nice getaway. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a secluded, quiet getaway!!!!

Amazing memories and our new happy place

The host is incredible. Hands down. The property is an adventure to get to and everything we wanted from a beach vacation. We made beautiful beach drive in our Subaru day in and day out, tide in and tide out. We loved the memories made staying outside of town, visiting the towns, driving on the beach, exploring the islands, seeing wild horses every day, and new things we learned. On the way to the house, we pressured down tires to 20 psi, which takes less than 10 minutes, made it no problem. High tide we had to take some back routes, which everyone does and made it every time. Free air is available right where the pavement starts to pressure backup for longer drives. Food Lion is easy to get to and the host recommended some great places to visit. If you like to make memories, ready for the beach mindset and are open to adventures…this is the place. Age ranges from 65 to 3…everyone had a blast.

Clean roomy pet friendly quiet secluded all around amazing! We loved it we saw horses right at the house!! The beach drive was a challenge at night but still as breathtaking as it is in daylight! A unique adventure and we will be returning!Renee answered instantly and resolved what I needed!! The house has a hot tub which is also a bonus!! Very pretty up to date FULLY stocked with dishes/utensils! Love, love, love this place and we took our dog and she loved the beach and the beach is EVERYWHERE!!!Next time we will stay A LOT longer

After 40 years of OBX vacations, we decided life’s too short, not 1 week, but 2! Horse Inn Around was the perfect choice for our group of 7 adults. The home was spotless, welcoming, and beautifully stocked. The welcome basket and bottle of wine were such thoughtful touches! We spent every day on the beach, and this home was the perfect retreat after long, sandy days. We had plenty of space to gather in the evenings, cook big family meals, and relax. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the living room was cozy with ample seating. A couple of suggestions: an extra fridge downstairs for drinks would be helpful (we brought an ice maker for our coolers), and an outdoor shower would be a great OBX classic touch. Rene and Dan were incredible hosts, responsive, kind, and proactive. Rene called before check-in to give us a heads-up about the washer & dryer needed replaced and kept us updated throughout the week. We saw the wild horses on the property twice and loved how the house felt tucked away, yet we could still hear the ocean. Whether you’re a group of adults or a family with kids, this home is a wonderful fit. The game room downstairs is perfect for families! Thank you, Rene & Dan, for sharing your home with us. It was exactly the vacation we needed!

Great Remote Beach Property

If you like a remote beach experience, this property is a great option. We set up on the beach, stayed all day, and regularly saw the wild horses on the dunes. The house was clean, comfortable, and we all slept well each night. We also enjoyed the hot tub!

Summer OBX June 2025

We had another great beach vacation on the 4x4 in the OBX! Weather was picture perfect. The ocean was clear and warm. Our hosts were very quick to respond to any questions we had, as well as quick to answer our call during our stay with a question. House was exactly as advertised.
