We were a party of eight over 50s for a couple of days to take in New Year’s Eve.Beautiful old house. Very well equipped. Excellent location. Annie the host was very helpful. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
Homely and comfortable and yet accommodated 10 adults and 2 young children easily. Great location for shops and park. Perfectly decorated for Christmas. Anne is very helpful and amenable and responded speedily to questions as well as welcoming us to the house. We thoroughly recommend.
10 of our family and friends spent a week here, people arrived and left and we spent our time connecting to each other. Talking, playing the piano, drinking tea, exploring the city, exploring the countryside. It was like s tr aying in a friends home. The host let us use her home including all the kitchen facilities and feeding Hargreaves, a chilled, grand, cat. We loved it!
We stayed in Baye House for our youngest son’s wedding. We have a large family of all
ages and this was absolutely the perfect house to stay. We had a wonderful welcome from Annie and immediately felt at home. The house and garden are gorgeous- if only it were ours! Just lovely.
We rented the whole of Baye House for a family christmas with relatives who were visiting from overseas. The property was ideally set-up and provided the perfect backdrop to an English christmas. Each bedroom is large and many have their own sinks / bathrooms. There are also 2 'family' bathrooms with baths which was excellent for the kids. The Kitchen has everything one would need, even to make a full christmas dinner, with many oven trays, pans and lots of crockery. Anne had kindly provided a great supply of coffee, tea, fruit etc. which was very helpful. The large dining room table was perfect for dinner for 12 people and we enjoyed playing the piano. The large living room is gorgeous and wood-pannelled, and the Christmas tree was beautiful. The fireplace is also a great size for setting out stockings - Father Christmas had no issues getting down the chimney! We would highly recommend this well set-up house for larger family stays and its position in Colchester makes it ideal for exploring the historic sites of the town. Thank you, Anne!
An excellent property for a large group of friends or family. Very well equipped and comfortable. Great to have the piano! Great communication with the host.
large, beautiful property and in a fantastic location
A very large stunning house, lovey garden and amazing location, its in a quiet side street but just of the high street and parking!
It was ready early for us with fizz in the fridge, what more could you want
Host responded quickly to messages, it was my 60th birthday and nice touches by the host, a welcome card, bottle of fizz, bowl of fruit, biscuits etc
Very quirky house, comfy beds
There were 12 of us with some empty beds although could be queues for the showers if more people
Lovely garden
Excellent location, literally 2 minutes to the high street
The house is old and so there are some sloping floors and few steps up and down in to rooms, although the stairs are very shallow. We had 2 guests, 1 in their 80s and 1 in 90s and they managed fine
Would recommend
This lovely old house and garden had many quirky features, including the upstairs plumbing
It is very central but still has a large garden, bbq and parking. It is also close to cycle routes 1 to Dedham Vale and 51 to Wivenhoe.
Anna had left many treats and a well stocked pantry. The kitchens were well equipped but it was difficult to find somethings. There were plenty of child friendly touches, indoors and out
You need to be a cat lover as Hargie needs feeding and lots of love.
Excellent location, comfortable house and extremely warm and welcoming owner
Perfect location, excellent facilities,
The house is perfect with all essential requirements and more!
Communication with owner was excellent and very helpful, prior to the trip, and then a very warm welcome on arrival, with some lovely welcoming gifts!
Highly recommended!!
We booked the house for a family get together to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday and as there were 9 adults and 5 children the size of the house and the layout was perfect for us would recommend it to others .II
