About this property

Bila - glamping overlooking the Great Dividing Range

Wake to the extraordinary spectacle of clouds in the valleys of the seemingly endless blue eucalypt hills of the southern end of the Blue Mountains National Park. Bila is a spacious 4 metre Bell Tent and beautifully styled in all the earthy textures and tones of the surrounding landscape.

There is a comfortable gazebo like camp kitchen which we have developed for tourists to retreat to in case of bad weather. There is a living area with a fireplace and a dining area. These seperate areas allow for different groups of tourists to enjoy the camp kitchen at the same time. The camp kitchen offers another possibility for group gatherings with it’s generous deck, bar and outdoor sitting area. There is a cast iron BBQ on the deck for cooking if the camp fires become too wet.

There are two showers. Both a glass fronted and are perched on the very edge of the hill so you get the feeling that there is very little between you and the mountains! It is truly a spectacular experience. There is a solar heater on top of the showers which allows for hot showers. We do ask however that you are careful to restrict your usage for the shower to 2 -3 minute showers.

There is a toilet block at the back of Tanjenong camp. The two toilets are composting toilets. We have at Tanjenong Camp, tried at all times to be sensitive to the environment. We have tried as far as possible to use locally sourced materials. All our energy is renewable and off grid. The water at Tanjenong Camp is either rainwater or spring water.

You will be able to connect with one of the favourite Tanjenong walks, the Abercrombie River walk. This walk takes you through a diverse and pristine Eucalypt landscape to the Abercrombie river. The river walk offers a possibility of spotting a diverse range of wild animals, kangaroos, platypus, echidna, trout, wombat, goannas, goats and deer . The walk itself is roughly an hour and half to two hours long. It is steep in parts so it is important to wear good walking shoes.

Incredible but would only go in spring or summer

It was absolutely amazing with a pretty tend, beautiful views and cute animals. Bathrooms were clean and surprisingly warm! I went at the end of April and it was too cold at night in the tent even though we had all our thermals, beanies, scarves, etc so we didn't have the best sleep. Would go back in warmer weather!

Peaceful and stunning view

Amazing place, cleaned, organised and very well looked after by the owners who received us so nicely, including their lovely dog Lucy. We definitely reccommend it.

About the host

Hosted by Rob & Deb Kane

Host profile image
Rob and I (Deb) have both had backgrounds in the film and television industry. We were drawn to the rugged beauty of the bush 12 years ago. Tanjenong belonged to my parents who arrived here from Kenya in 1971. They were drawn Tanjenong because it reminded them of the rugged wildness of the African landscape. We have a strong interest in creating sustainable, environmentally friendly and beautiful spaces so that all our visitors can sink into this wild landscape the same way we did. We hope you have a wonderful peaceful stay at Tanjenong. Enjoy! Deb and Rob Kane
