Three on a Date for Our 40th Anniversary

When we arrived, it was warm and humid outside. It was also warm and humid inside. The A/C unit had been set to cool to 50 degrees. As a result, the unit was completely frozen up and inoperable. I spoke to the host and he said there was nothing he could do that evening, but that he would send somebody out in the morning. We got the call Saturday morning that a guy was on the way. We got up and got dressed and he arrived. Obviously, this problem took hours to defrost. We left and came back in the afternoon to a cool unit and had a fine evening. You are probably thinking the host offered us something for an awful night. We were offered no consideration or compensation for the inconvenience. Bring towels too if you want more than 1 towel each for a 2 day weekend. We spent our honeymoon 40 years ago at Bernard's Landing and have had many great trips there. This is no reflection on the resort.

Great spot overlooking the lake

The communication with the owners, the location overlooking smith mountain lake, the restaurant recommendations and everything was very good. Small issue with WiFi not working the first few hours, but the owners replied and helped resolve that quickly, so it wasn’t a big deal. Overall would highly recommend. Thanks!

Great View Easy Access to town Close to everything Cons Very cold and Fireplace was unusable DVR was there but in a cabinet not hooked up NO room for grocery storage Sleeper mattress can still feel bars and springs Horrible upstairs neighbor up all Nite Still was a nice stay!

Very peaceful location, nice view, great for reading and relaxing in the condo and on the patio. We were very disappointed with the amenities. It was advertised that tennis/pickleball courts could be accessed easily by a code - we were given the wrong code #, then after searching around to find someone working at the Clubhouse, because it was not open (he kindly gave us the correct code). The indoor pool and hot tub were filthy! The owners advertised they had tennis equipment so we did not bring our own, only to find out there were no tennis balls! There was not enough soap, shampoo or toilet paper and we ran out! Not enough hangers or warm blankets. The battery for the bathroom clock needed replacement, the Keurig coffeemaker did not have a filter. The water is not good for drinking. The grocery store is pretty far away, not much local shopping and many restaurants had closed for the fall/winter! On our last full day the neighbor was replacing their patio so it was very noisy. A disappointing Anniversary getaway to say the least.

Quick getaway

Wanted to stay overnight at the lake and came across this rental at the last minute at a great price! Everything was nice and clean! Beautiful views of the lake and mountains from the patio. Had a great dinner at the restaurant on site, Napoli by the Lake. The only thing I regret is not staying long enough! Lol. Would definitely rent again!

Anniversary trip

it was nice. There wasn't as many things open as listed on the description due to renovation of the store and restaurant but we had a great time. The view was beautiful and the condo was cozy and comfortable. Definitely would recommend it.

Deb is a high school English teacher, John works for the USPS, Natalie is in 10th grade and Kelly is in 7th. We live in Virginia, work hard during the year and wanted a place to go to get away from the daily grind. We hope to share a place other families can come to get away also! Although this may be a new listing we are certainly not new to VRBO.
