Hale Hapuna is in a small residential village on the hillside overlooking the ocean in Kawaihae near the harbor. It is located between Kailua-Kona (40 minutes) and Hilo (90 minutes) and 30 minutes from KOA airport in Kona.

Just up the hill (15 minutes) are the ranching town of Waimea and the eclectic town of Hawi, surrounded by acres of green hills and pastures. Plan your day trips to explore these charming towns and be home for sunset on the deck at Hale Hapuna.

You are never far from the many activities here on the Big Island whether it's snorkeling, diving, ziplining, shopping, surfing, golfing, dining, stargazing at the top of Mauna Kea or just reading a book on the beach. It's all here waiting for you.

Very private and relaxing. Everything you need for a vacation. The location requires some driving to get to groceries and sites but the quality and the privacy of the property is well worth a few miles. Would totally choose this over a resort any day!

This bungalow was a perfect base for my family of four (including two young kids). Spacious, clean, peaceful and quiet, and stocked with everything we needed. An easy 7-minute drive to several perfect, beautiful beaches while also very convenient to shops, grocery stores, and restaurants in Waimea. The host was very helpful and responsive. We loved staying here!

Great Location and Value!

The property was just as described - sparkling clean and well-appointed. The kitchen has everything you need and more for vacation cooking. Communication with the property manager was smooth and easy via text. The location is great - easy access to the resorts and beaches, as well as Waimea and points east. We had zero issues during our stay - would book here again without hesitation.

My family had an outstanding stay at Hale Hapuna, it was truly perfect! The home had everything we needed for a relaxing and memorable vacation. We especially loved the outdoor living area, which was perfect for unwinding together, and the star gazing deck was an absolute highlight, so peaceful and beautiful at night. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and would absolutely come back again. Highly recommended!

The location is very convenient to beautiful beaches on the northwest side of The Big Island, to Waimea and to other areas in the north. The house has several interesting and beautiful outdoor patios where we had coffee every morning.

The property served us well. Good proximity to local beaches and Waimea...a bit of a drive from Kailua/Kona but we knew that and were okay with it. Clean and well appointed.

Great spot north of the busy spots, and conveniently close to both Waimea and the northern beaches. The outdoor patio spaces made the stay amazing - fenced and with varying amounts of shade was perfect for kids (and adults!). Host was very responsive.

Easy, happy stay

Well equipped, well managed, design forward, snug unit. Fantastic outdoor areas. All exactly as pictured. Six minutes drive to lovely, lovely Spencer Beach. A pretty good distance to grocery and drug stores. Would return in a minute.

Beautiful home near Hapuna Beach

My sister and I had a wonderful stay at Hale Hapuna in Kawaihae. Very nicely appointed home with all the amenities to make it a very comfortable stay. The property manager very thoughtfully put on the AC before we arrived. Gorgeous view from the upper terrace. Look forward to coming back to this property.
